I've noticed two changes to both sites recently that has my panties in a wad. Nothing earthy shattering, just changes to the way I like things and now I've got to get used to something new. Facebook - looking on my newsfeed and it has a photo/status/something that a friend has liked/shared/commented on. Before it said "Mary Doe liked this". Now it just says "Mary liked this." Well guess what ... I am friends with four Mary's. How do I know which one it is? Yes, I know. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Pinterest - when pinning something, the way to choose which board to pin to has changed. I have 85 boards but there are a handful that I primarily use. I named those boards with a number before the actual name because the boards with numbers automatically come up first followed by those in alphabetical order. That way I didn't have to scroll down to find my Needlework board because it was up at the top under 7 Needlework. Now the boards are alphabetical first and those with numbers come last. Grrrr Again, probably not a big deal to most but very annoying for me. Ugh! Why can't they just leave everything alone and stop trying to make it "better." Thanks for letting me vent, I feel better now.

I get so very tired of FB and Pinterest changes. I hate how FB (and I think Pinterest althought I haven't been there in a while) auto-update new posts every milisecond on the computer. I can't even look at FB on the computer b/c the screen changes so much it hurts my eyes. And then the posts are not in the same order. I look at it on my phone exclusively because of this. It's slower on the phone. I only log in if someone sends me a message b/c I'm not downloading the messaging phone app.
Does Pinterest not still have your last one or two pinned boards at the top of the list? Sometimes, I will just pin card posts, b/c I don't want to have to scroll through my boards if I'm jumping around on topics. Or course, I miss pinning some pins but I'll probably live.

I don't use facebook much. I mainly use it for private groups I am in. I love Pinterest, though. I spend can spend hours on there and have tried 3 things this week that I found on there. I didn't even notice the change on there.

for a publicly owned company, Facebook just chugs along with its philosophy of "we're doing this and we don't care what you think about it" -- it's a total frat boys are in charge mentality. I don't think there's a single thing they've changed or updated that anyone has liked! Most frustrating company ever. Pinterest I love ... just yeah.

Or maybe people in general are resistant to change. I know that I am.

oh I agree Sharlag, I can be resistant too. But to have posts show up as "new" 4 days after the fact simply because someone "liked" it is annoying! And it makes no sense considering they have that little update bar at the top.
And they decide what we see - despite who we "like", despite what groups we "like" - if they don't want you to see it, they don't have it feed it.
Thanks to the IPO, it's now all about advertising ... so and so friend likes Viagra - don't you want to as well? uhhh no.

I agree that it is annoying that we seem to have little to no control over our feeds. I also really wish they would quit switching my feed to "Top Stories". I set it at "Most Recent" - now d@mn it, leave it there! My FB/Pinterest vent this week has been about a friend though. She uses FB to "pin" things - many, many things - like it was Pinterest. Her reasoning, when I suggest Pinterest might be easier to keep track of her things? She doesn't need another time suck. I finally had to quit following her because my feed was nothing but her "likes" and "shares". Except now every single thing she does still shows up under my Notifications. There are times I'll open the page to see 10+ notifications of her activity. Anyone know how to get rid of that? hover over her name and a box will come up, click on the little arrow next to "friend" and you will see a list of titles you can select to mark her as your friend, such as Close Friend and Acquaintance. Just above that you will see "Get Notifications" Uncheck that and the notifications will stop

I have a SIL who feels it's her duty to educate all of her friends on the unhealthy world we live in, or how bad vaccines are. She believes every article that she comes across on the dangers of using this and that. She won't eat chicken wings anymore because she read an article... she won't drink OJ because she read an article... She no longer uses the self clean function on her oven because she read an article... and yet she won't go on medication even though the doctor told her that it doesn't matter how healthy she eats, she is at the beginning stages of diabetes. Why? Because doctors ONLY want to sell you prescriptions and she just knows she can keep it under control.
