Huh, I was looking at the next lot after the top 15, and #17 is Sinking Building Outside State Library in my town. I've lived here all my life, 49 years, and I have never seen that - I didn't even know it was there! I even went on a school excursion with DS's class 2 years ago to the state library.

One of those looked really familiar to me (the circle of people underwater) and I realized I saw it on a webpage showing a collection of his work. He builds these amazing sculptures with a specific type of cement to encourage all the ocean creatures to take up habitation on them. Jason deCaires Taylor's Underwater Sculptures

I'm particularly in awe of the ones that manage to make something so solid and heavy look so fragile and light, like the fairy dancing with the dandelion. Just breathtaking. They are all stunning though, so thought provoking too

Awesome! I clicked all the way through, and have seen 3 of these in the flesh. The shark in Oxford is just around the corner from where my Grandma used to live, and my brothers and I always loved to see it. (Others I've seen are the Singapore river people, and Bratislava worker)

Thank you so much! Two of those are within a couple of hours drive of my home, the fairy/dandelion is one in a trail, so there are lots more to discover.
Also the sitting figures with trees is an installation within a 500 acre sculpture park.
They always say that you don't really appreciate what's local to you. I think both of these are going to be worthy of visits this year.

I have seen a couple of them in person, and another was part of an installation at a museum here for a while.
They are all interesting pieces.

I loved them.
Every year Sydney has an art event called Sculptures by the Sea. I've been a couple of times and it's always a mixture of "oh my goodness - awesome" to "huh".
I think it's brilliant. I know that artwork in public places is expensive, but they bring an enrichment to the environment that the world needs.

Really loved seeing these so thanks so much for posting them!
I really liked #27 Kelpies in Grangemouth, UK. Kelpies I believe are waterhorses. Going by that photo these sculptures must be huge! I would love to see them in person some day.
All of them were really amazing.
