Recently there was a thread abut what projects each of us have to work on this year. I responded with a list of things I'd like to work on. But now I can't choose. So how do you choose your next scrap project? Do you work on current photos and then work backwards? Do you do just work on special albums?
I am wondering what is your process for deciding what to work on. I have a 3 day getaway in February and I have until then to decide and then gather everything!

I look at my kit club stash and see what speaks to me then find pictures that go with that kit. I scrap with that kit until I am bored and then repack it and move to the next one. I don't scrap chronologically. I just see what speaks,to me and play with it.
I did 9 layouts with the kit I just put away - winter/Christmas kit. This afternoon I moved into a more summertime type of kit. Took my time unpacking everything so I could see what I had, looked for inspiration (as I am a huge scraplifter) and got the pics picked out. Tomorrow I will start making layouts.

I'm always working on my regular PL album (by events or months, now, rather than by week) but have two albums going besides that. One is a mini album of special trips/long weekends in 2016 (no problem, I think 6x8 comes pretty easy to me!) and the other is my 12x12 2014 PL album (big problem!). I wasn't into scrapping then but 2 years ago, I printed off all my instagrams from that year and added them to pages. They're all squares so I have no idea what to do with them! Gotta find inspo for that style of page... any advice for me? New stuff usually gets me ready to make new stuff, so I buy off-month kits (on sale, natch) and then work that in wherever I feel like I want to work. So my advice is... buy stuff!

i am working through all my old kits from SG--so i grab a kit, grab some photos and scrap. Then I either use more of the kit, or return it to the bag, and grab another. When I am done with all of them,I will resub to a kit club and also use my old old old pp and CS that i have left (about 6 inches of pp) and create some kits with those. I may buy a couple of embellies as i don't have anything left except brads (!!!) But i want to keep the stash small.
I just do 12x12 now. Haven't really thought of doing any mini albums, and tried PL once but only lasted about 5 months, so right now I am not going to do it again.

I usually rank by priority - what is something I need to get done by a certain date? Then I always pick PL because I don't want to get too far behind.

I usually move between my current photos and either a special album or an older album
For instance...right now I'm working on my Road Trip album - next I'll work on 2016 photos but when I'm tired of that (or caught up - ha) I'll either work on one of the older year albums that isn't finished (2015 maybe or 2006? - there are lots of options) or I'll work on another special album (Disney maybe or one of the GS albums or the Navy album)

I just go with whatever photos are motivating to me, and it's not always something very current. I have a lot of great photos to scrap and never enough time to jump into it and actually make a dent.

I tend to work from new to older photos and stories, unless I am doing a challenge or a class to work on something else.
My motivation comes from the latest photos I am excited about, and I usually have some new seasonal papers and other elements to go with those photos, and the new stuff motivates me too. And I file my older stash by season, so when I pull that out, I meet old friends there and that gets my creativity going, too.
To pack for a crop, to be honest, I pack up way too much, but I usually make sure that the supplies I bring match the photos I want to work with. Seasons, of course. But also themes, like maybe plan to do a bunch of birthday LO's, and maybe a batch of birthday cards. Or maybe I pack up a bunch of western themed supplies to scrap a rodeo or a visit to the horse boarding stable, or various sports themed stuff, depending on what photos I have. And, with 5 dgs's under age 5, I am always safe packing a bunch of little boy themed goodies.
Right now I am in my happy place: just printed a bunch of winter and Christmas photos, and I have new and old winter & Christmas themed papers & elements all over my scrap room. The winter issues of my favorite magazines are full of ideas. And Pinterest still seems to have alot of winter and Christmas eye candy to oggle. Inspiration is everywhere!
When I finish a project, I sometimes go through a feeling of letdown. And sometimes I just decide to walk away for awhile. But eventually, I decide I have to clean up this room, and inevitably I will find some photos &/or some product I really look forward to using, and off I go again...

I have so many projects that are in progress that sometimes it's hard to choose. I don't mind hopping around if one isn't speaking to me at the moment.
I haven't been scrapbooking much lately with DD19 home from school until tomorrow. I'm really excited to throw myself back in! I would like to finish my December Documented before the end of this month. I would also like to work on my 52 stories each week. Those are at the top of the list for time sensitive projects.
My next criteria for choosing which project to work on would be which one is speaking to me...calling to me to work on. That could be because of the pictures or even a kit that is specially chosen for that project. I'm really excited to start working on DD19's college albums and my 2016 year in review. The pictures are in sheet protectors/pockets just waiting to be scrapped.
If I've just ordered fresh pictures I might be tempted to work on that project. I can see ordering DS29's vacation pictures as soon as he sets up a cloud.
If one of my kids is excited about a project I might work on that. DD17 is helping me make an album about the many books she reads. She had a really hard time reading when she was younger and now it's a passion for her. That makes my heart happy.
I have way too many started projects to mention. Christmas through the years, Disney(2014), my last cruises(2012) DD19's Italy trip(2015), and many many more! I LOVE that I have soooo many projects! It doesn't overwhelm me...just makes me happy
If I cannot find my creativity, I can tell stories. With or without pictures. After reading about 52 stories here, I knew that would be perfect for me because that's how I've gotten out of a slump before!

I am all over the place as I just scrap whatever I feel like. I have several albums on the go including digital projects. If I'm trying to work out what to scrap next I'll do often start with some of the ideas already mentioned - look for photos or products that inspire, a story I want to tell (regardless of whether I have photos to support it or not), or a project I want to get completed.

I'm all over the place too. I scrap whatever grabs me at that particular moment. I do have pages that I "have" to complete, but for some reason those are the ones that I feel less inclined to work on. Too much pressure maybe! And I don't usually work on "albums" because when I do, those projects are usually the ones that stress me out the most. For example, DH and I took went on an amazing trip to Italy in 2004. I started that album but it still sits unfinished. I can't get motivated to do it and I think it's because I'm not at all happy with the couple of pages I've created. So maybe that should be my challenge this year - start over and do a couple of pages every few weeks. Maybe by the of the year it will actually be done!

I work better when I work within a theme or specific subject.
Right now I'm working on my DD still (just got photos on the 11th).
After it is finished, I will start working on a batch of school photos I have from December. They are three different kids' pics, but all school related, so I will pull out all my school themed embellishments and paper, and go at it.

Add me to the list of all over the place! I have several projects in progress, projects I have all the stuff for but haven't started, and projects I plan on starting. I scrap what I want with no rhyme or reason!
Sorry, I'm no help whatsoever! 😁

The guesswork is eliminated for me because I'm a chronological scrapper. I finish a layout and then move on to the next set of pictures or vacation or themed album. The one thing that might change for me in the near future is adding in some layouts that I'll be redoing. I may set aside a day here and there and set a goal of redoing 5 layouts. That might only be once a month, though.

Usually it's whatever I feel like. But for those times when nothing is really making my fancy, then I usually have a couple of fall backs. Right now, I have my Christmas photos that I'm trying to work through. I rarely ever did Christmas layouts until recently, so there are years that need to be completed. And my other fall back is art journaling. I realize that is probably not your thing. However, it really jump starts my creativity and love of paper.

I work on what inspires me. Sometimes it's photos, sometimes it's wanting to use new product, sometimes it's just following along with a challenge and pulling out a photo or photos that works it (I usually pick a few things that work and choose from those options the one that inspires me the most).
