I sort and store, but rarely use, unless it's the basics - white, black, red, or brown. I need to delve into that drawer more often. A few nights ago I made a card that was 90% scraps and was tickled that I actually did it.

Mine are sorted by color in accordion files - two big ones. I also have a compartment for paper that makes good embellishments - like butterflies, flowers, hearts, etc. When I make a layout I try to use something from the files. I also use them to make cards and recipe cards, but I still have way too many scraps.

I cut my scraps down to 6x6, 4x6, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 or 3x4 depending on size of the "scrap".
Anything else goes in the garbage.

I have a set of drawers by my desk that hold various supplies and I have two drawers dedicated to scraps - one for patterns and one for solids. I tend to look in there first when I need less than a full sheet. I used to have my scraps sorted by colour or pattern but found I spent longer looking for the right piece and missed some great pp combinations that way. It doesn't take long to rifle through my scraps and as others have said, if whatever techniques I'm trying don't work out I don't feel guilty about the paper use.

I have a 4 drawer plastic organizer
(starting from the top) Drawer 1... all patterned paper, velum, metallic, and other specialty papers Drawer 2... all Solids..blues, greens, and yellows Drawer 3... all Solids..pinks, peaches, purples, reds, and oranges Drawer 4... all Solid neutrals...Black, white, grey, brown, etc.
I only keep 1x1 inch and larger papers and recycle the rest.
In the past, I tried to separate the patterned papers by color, but it just frustrated me so now I just put them all together and It works for me.

If I have a scrap that is a larger piece and part of a collection pack, I often keep that scrap with the collection until most of it is gone.
All other scraps, pattern paper and card stock go into a basket together. The papers stand up in this basket, so I can flip through them quickly. When the basket gets so full it is hard to flip through, I do a quick sort and dump anything I do not think I will use. Or I will have a card making session and use only paper from my scrap basket.
This works for me. I do not want to waste my scrapping time sorting my scraps. I tried to do this before and it did not help me use them. The basket does. It is there, out in the open, and visible to be used.
I have found I am a "rummager" and like to dig around to find something to use. Or a treasure I forgot about.

I am the same way...once I put all my scraps in one place that was easy to go through, I find I use them sooo much more. Having a limited amount of space to store them really helps to remind me to use them up.

Yes; I use scraps on every layout! After every scrapping session, I immediately assess scraps. The larger pieces are trimmed into usable squares/rectangles/circles/strips & stored in two stackable Pottery Barn trays - solid colors on top & patterned on bottom - which has inspired color/pattern combinations over the years! All remaining smaller/odd-sized pieces are placed in a bowl & eventually punched/diecut into frequently-used shapes (e.g. stars, arrows). Any unused scraps/shapes are donated to our church preschool program annually.

My storage for scraps is cheap, but works quite well for me. I sort my scraps by predominant color and they go in a gallon size Ziploc bag. These bags are then in a box that will keep them standing up. I can just grab the bag of red and see all my red scraps before I cut into a new sheet. It keeps them clean and unbent. I also store my alphabet stickers this way in the same box.

I was thinking about a basket/jar to toss mine in on my desk - the smaller 4x4 types for using with dies. I haven't actually done it yet - but I'm a visual person and I think I would be more likely to use them.

i keep my scraps. It have a file with folders for each color. I am always going through them so I get good use of them. Lately I've been using collections so I leave all the scraps with the collection. Makes it easier to use up.

If the scrap is 1/2 page or bigger, I put it back in the folder w/ the full sized sheet of the same color
If the scrap is less than a 1/2 page but bigger than 4X4 it goes in a file folder next to my table
If it is 4X4 or less, I keep it in a big zip lock bag in my punch drawers
If it is a long paper strip, it goes in a mason jar on my table
This keeps them organized for me, and in the area of the scraproom where I'm most likely to notice/use it.
