I am having serious deja vu. Didn't we just talk about a blog where if you have to try so hard to convince somebody of something (I'm so different! I'm so smart!), you really aren't convincing anybody of anything.
At this point I just have to laugh. Am I losing sleep over an obviously staged and ridiculous photo of Trump? No. But I'll take my laughs where I can get them these days. The responses on the internet were pretty funny.

Melania helped him write it. If she gets her "inspiration" from Michelle Obama, it might be good!

I am about to get someone in charge of my job who has no clue what IDEA is and is worried about protecting my students from grizzly bears instead of mentally ill people with guns. So yeah, a ridiculous tweet from the Donald is amusing at this point.

"Trulsy smart people don't feel the need to constantly claim that they are smarter than anyone who disagrees with them. That's what insecure people do."Didn't Trump claim he was smart? Smarter than the intelligence community and generals? By that logic, Trump is insecure. Plus, if you're so smart and secure, why did you feel the need to throw out the "I'm better educated than you" card? I dumb it down to "If you claim to be the smartest person in the room that is a good sign that you're probably not." 'cuz I know I'm not and am okay with that. Chicago news station just reported Trump talked at Lincoln Memorial and is claiming his cabinet has the GREATEST COMBINED IQ EVER! 'the highest IQ of any cabinet ever assembled'... damn, we are so lucky!

AmeliaBloomer In fairness, Mar-a-Lago was once bequeathed to the nation for Presidents to use as a winter retreat. Indeed. Let's review that story just for fun. -Mrs. Rich Lady leaves the property to the government as a presidential retreat -Presidents Nixon/Ford/Carter decline/decline/decline -Government gives property back to Rich Lady Family -Family turns down $15 million offer from intrepid - and perhaps prescient - thirtysomething real estate mogul whose name rhymes with "rump." -Chagrined, Mr. Rump-Rhymer threatens to build a monstrous house to block the Mar-a-Lago ocean view. -Rich Lady Family cries uncle and sells to the crafty young mogul for a mere $8 million And now the place will be returned to its rightful role as the Winter White House. Such symmetry; nay, noble symmetry.

This was my comment on FB as well, and Trump's supporters seem to feel that their wealth is evidence of their yuge IQs.

I'm so tired of the idea that you people seem to have that unless we voted the way you think is the right way to vote then obviously we were duped or we weren't smart enough to see what was going on. That kind of elitist attitude is precisely the reason, or one of them, that Hillary lost. People are just plain tired of the Condescension. I am willing to bet that I am more highly educated than 95% of you. My friends are the same way. We were not duped. We understand exactly what was at stake in the selection. We understand trumps strengths and his weaknesses. Get over yourselves with the idea that you're somehow smarter than everyone else. Truly smart people don't feel the need to constantly claim that they are smarter than anyone who disagrees with them. That's what insecure people do. FWIW, not all of us are "you people." I don't think anyone needed to vote the way I vote. I also don't put all Trump voters into one pool. I'm not sure I've ever posted my thoughts on Trump voters, and if I have, I would only remark on the Trump voters that I know in real life. This is what I can tell you about the Trump voters that I know. Some are hugely educated. Some are rough necks who live in trailers. They all have the same things in common. Can you guess what they are?? There is simply no rationale for voting for a willfully ignorant individual like Trump to be the leader of our country. In my opinion, people up and had a snit fit. Feel condescended to? Vote to undermine our country. Feeling slighted by Mexicans? Vote to end our country as we know it. Scared out of your wits that anyone who is of a different religion is going to harm you. Vote to make the US a laughing stock. That is all that any Trump voters have really done. There is nothing I've heard from anyone that successfully defends my opinion. (Not that anyone is required to, mind you. That has just been me holding out a grain of hope in the humanity of this country.) I was even going to "give him a chance," but he has blown that right out of the gate with every move he has made and every thing he has said. Mostly, I just hear Trump voters say we don't understand. Well, the sense that I have to understand this is absurd. If anything, Trump voters should understand what they've done and just own up to it. DeVos, anyone? Perry? You guys really okay with this craziness? So, don't peg me as "outraged" at this silly photo. I'm only outraged that short sighted people (even smart, educated ones) had a huge snit fit that will greatly impoverish this country. You are my new favorite person. Well said.

The following is a comment from President Obama when asked about the written word and his love of books:
“At a time when events move so quickly and so much information is transmitted, the ability to slow down and get perspective, along with the ability to get in somebody else’s shoes – those two things have been invaluable to me,” Obama said. “Whether they’ve made me a better president, I can’t say. But what I can say is that they have allowed me to sort of maintain my balance during the course of eight years.”
This next comment is from dt when asked the same thing.
Q: Is there a book you actually like that you’d recommend?
TRUMP: I like a lot of books. I like reading books. I don’t have the time to read very much now in terms of the books, but I like reading them. This one is just one that just came out. CNN. The CNN book just came out.
(He was referring, of course, to a book about himself.)

so, ~Lauren~ , I'm just curious: What do YOU think, then, when you see a photo of Donald Trump sitting at a desk which has been shown to be the CONCIERGE'S desk at his hotel, where he says he's hard at work writing his speech? Are you okay with that? Or do you actually believe that he was writing his speech in the lobby of the hotel? It's a staged photo. I don't feel the need to "think" about it at all. Am I ok with it? I don't think this is a big deal. Of course, as was stated on another thread, news that Trump had lunch today is fodder for outrage from the left.

My DH started the day with a bit of CNN. I am not sure which political thread to post this query on. Could someone please clarify: DT allegedly had a cringeworthy moment, called KellyAnne Conway (sp?) "baby" at some point in the day before inauguration proceedings? hope not!

Yes he did, at about 18.15 along this Video ( sorry I don't know how to embed a video in a thread) Just scoot pass the rest unless you want to listen to someone with verbal diarrhoea talking a lot of nonsense about nothing of any substance. I don't want to imagine what kind of speeches we'll be hearing over the next four years after listening to some of last night's, I really don't.
