similar albums? I just made the title page for our October HI trip. I did the same type of page for our Kauai trip, and love how it turned out, so I decided to go the same route with the new one. If we go, again, I will carry on the idea to that album, as well. Hawaii- the Big Island: Kauai: Have you ever done something like this? (Similar title pages) If so, would you mind sharing your creations? I'd love to see how you document your trip, as a whole. 🙂

Those are really cute. We travel somewhere tropical every year. I do two 50 page books (for my kids). I haven't done a like yours, but sometimes do a flight page or a passport page. I have also done maps of places we have gone and put little "pins" in the places we stayed on the map with small pictures around it.

I actually have a different approach to my travel albums!
For me, the title page kind of sets the tone for the whole book - color scheme, destination ( tropical, mountain-y, winter, summer, cruise, etc) so I do whatever strikes me for that particular trip. Once I figure out the title page, I know where the rest of the album is going to go, and I make a huge kit from my stash and fill in with stuff that I need to purchase. Usually it starts with one particular collection, and I'll build from there.
For one album, I actually found a beautiful collection and bought multiples of each paper before we even went on the trip! ( SOOO glad I did that.....RIP Basic Grey....I did my best to single handedly keep you in the papercrafting business...) Then went back through my stash and pulled out lots of stuff that worked with it. I try to stick to about 5 main colors, have a basic "Go-to" for the majority of my background papers, and a few specific icons that end up being the "signature" for a particular trip. It may be travel/destination themed, like a camera or globe, anchor, compass rose or flamingo, but it may be something specific to that trip, pulled from a family joke, activity or incident that just "made the trip." Other than that, I use whatever papers and lines that go with that scheme.
Bad side: it can take me FOREVER to commit to a color scheme and make that freakin' title page! Like, a couple weeks has not been unheard of, of playing around, here and there, and making it feel "right."
Good side: Once that's decided, it's decided for the entire album, and I don't have to go back to the drawing board for each page. I just use some combination of the 5 or so colors I've chosen, and the rest comes together as quickly or as leisurely as I want. Some pages I speed through, some I do some kind of time consuming sunburst paper piece, or mixed media, or whatever, but I already know what colors/themes I'm going to use.
So I guess my answer is no, I don't make the same title page for every travel/vacation album, but I do follow the same basic formula in making them!

I'm thinking that mine are different -- sometime a collage of a group of people on the trip, sometimes a BIG favorite picture. One album I had a very elaborate title page - a big chipboard arrow that flipped open to a world map with our destination in little gold dots -- A big trip to a little place .... something along those lines justcindy you weren't alone in keeping Basic Grey in business! They used to be one of my favorite companies and form the background of many pages. Like you, I like to find a collection, 5 or so main colors, a "signature" icon (or items) that runs through the album ---

My title pages usually come after I've done a number of pages for the album - like justcindy I like my title pages to set the tone for the album, but unlike her I need to have a few pages done to really know what that tone is.
I don't have a go to page design although I often use a map print paper. Sometimes it will just be a list of the destinations, sometimes it will include some of my favourite photos, and sometimes it will include leftover photos that don't fit anywhere else in the album.

Hi I put a large 8x10 photo on my title page and scrap that. I love how it looks. Shutterfly is always having free8x10 so often that I choose a favorite photo of us from the trip and have it made 8x 10 ( a couple of times 8x8). I also include an 8x10 within the album for some special activities.

Just finished my trip to Oklahoma album. I don't have a formula for title pages but I do like to have an outline of the trip because I often need to go back and see exactly where we were when dh and I are discussing where we went and what we did. I like a map, too. I chose this pic because my goal for the trip was to hike with our gk.

For travel albums I like to do an itinerary-style title page (or second page), sometimes with just words on the day-by-day activities and sometimes including a photo from each day. I usually just do this on longer or special trips with lots of variety in daily activities (like Disney).

I take a similar approach as justcindy in that I choose a color scheme and embellishments that I use throughout the album to provide continuity. For instance, right now I'm working on an album about our UK trip and I'm using red, white and blue and I've got some stencils, stamps and embellishments that I'll use on every layout to make it cohesive. I don't worry about that with my PL or my kids' albums, but for albums that are all from the same event, like a trip or a wedding, I view the entire album as one big project instead of a series of separate LOs.

My title pages vary and are often the last thing I do to complete an album!

The online photo printers that i use provide a little contact sheet with a miniature of every photo. I usually use these in some way for the title page.

I'd love to see some of these if you feel like sharing. This is what I'm aiming to do for a couple of travel albums I'm still working on, but I haven't decided exactly what they should look like yet.

I like the trip in review pages you have done KikiPea. If a design works that well, it certainly deserves to be used again. I tend to just let the photos and stories take me when I scrap, rather than plan out a whole album ahead of time, so if I ended up with similar pages in two albums it would just be a happy accident.

Oh.... I'm about to leave Israel and have over 2000 pictures on my camera. Of course not all them one up in the scrapbook, but I'm already trying to think of ideas on how to scrap. I have never done Similar title pages..... Although they usually have the countries name and a map on it.
