I don't have a plan but there is ONE pea that is a FaceBook friend and she might see my sister or one of my cousins post that I'm gone. The only reason anyone would notice that I wasn't posting here is that they'd wonder why they hadn't seen the pile of Dachshunds in a long time!
Which reminds me, I have to shrink the picture even further and upload it so people can see it again!

I am so freaking dealing with this right now. My oldest sister died May 18th. She was "special." I had been trying to get her into an assisted living facility for two years. She was a hoarder and special and handicapped. Not two months before she died, an attorney next door had me come to her office to ask me to witness and notarize some very special living wills and powers of attorney for a really lovely couple. The husband had early on-set Alzheimers, and for every single paper, he asked, "What is this about?" And for every single paper, his lovely wife said, "Sweetheart, this is you won't have to worry about _______." And every single time, he said, "Oh, yes, that is good, I don't want to worry about that any more." But one time, the attorney said, "Walt, this is because you might have a leak in the boat," and for that time, the man became very agitated and said, "WHAT? There's a leak in the boat?!"
End of life planning is very thick on the planning part. I'm here to testify. My special sister died, and I spend one day of every weekend trying to clean out her house. It is not fun. For some reason, she spent a lot of time printing out recipes. I have to go through them one page at a time because my parents were important people who lived in a lovely, historic home, and they threw parties for important people who were major league NFL football coaches (Norm Van Brocklin) or poets (Daniel Whitehead Hickey). Stuff like this stinks. But dang, you just have to get through it.

I'm friends with a few Peas on FB, so assuming my IRL friends posted about their complete devastation at my passing on FB, then I guess the FB/Pea friends would find out and perhaps post it here. Whether or not anyone would give two hoots is another story!! I would give THREE hoots! I always enjoy your posts and usually agree with you.

You better have your families tell us that you're gone and haven't ditched us for another message board. Without you my house would be clean, the laundry all folded and put away, five course meals served every day, and an award winning garden. I'd rather hear about your experiences with the crazy ass people at the store, your cray cray neighbors and your families that love to drive you to drink. My kids know my sign in, so if you start seeing a bunch of freaky posts assume that I am dead and my kids are screwing with you. OK, I changed my mind. ^^ That! ^^

ETA: What does when Midge Yahoos you mean? Midge is my little Dachshund. I was joking that she'd send a Yahoo message with the news.

Nope. Maybe the old NSBR, because my DH actually posted there once, but not here. He knows there *is* a new pod of sorts, but if I died, my online presence anywhere wouldn't register with him.

Hmmm...when I was single I had the "come and take the "stuff" out of my house before my parents come over" plan with my buddy. I guess I should send my BFF an email with my login and password so she can inform you if I croak.

I'm pretty sure that my dh would post that I was fatally sick or dead. I know it would be on Facebook, and I have a few pea friends who would post of my demise.
I don't think this talk is too morbid. Our society is so afraid of everything related to death. No one is guaranteed tomorrow. I have a few keepsakes that I want to go to certain people.
I have a serious disease and have cheated death a couple of times now. I know that there are other peas like me. Yubon may think it's ludicrous to have a lot of emotional investment in a board on the internet, but she has the freedom of her health.
What would be sadder? Using technology to meet like minded people and becoming emotionally attached to a great group of people? Or rotting away slowly on your sofa in a depression because everyone else is busy and no one is comfortable talking on the phone or visiting people at home anymore?
I hope I don't die suddenly. I'd like to be able to spend some time with my loved ones. I recently read about a woman that was in hospice care and knew she didn't have long. She invited all her friends to a large celebrate my life party instead of having a huge funeral.
I'm already planning on renting a posh place at the beach and spending time with my best friend and her family.

Well now, this is just too sad that there are so many people saying they wouldn't be missed. We are a community here that enjoys being together (proven by the abrupt and untimely demise of the old board), sharing good news and bad, happy times and sad. All groups have a way to notify the others when someone passes. Maybe we all should have a 'buddy' (be it another Pea or someone who could know your login info) that would come in here and make the announcement. Every one of us makes us who we are and somebody would have some memory, and maybe a kind word to share, about every member on this board.
