I'm late to the knitting party. I made one today following the directions on the web site.
Just wondering if anyone did it in the round and used a kitchener or three needle bind off to close the top. Did it work?

Did it work? I know that some did. It was on one of the other threads. I prefer how the ears look when it is knitted flat and then seamed, so I've made 7 of those now. The hat in the round should be straight forward though. What is your question about in the round? You can can always look on ravelry for pictures of finished pussy Hats knitted all ways.

I used kitchener and it worked beautifully. I was actually amazed at how good it looked.

I will also add that I used a bulky yarn (I just used two strands of worsted) and was able to knit an entire hat in one evening in the round. I used the bulky pattern on the pussy hat website.

I'm working furiously on hat #5. I am knitting them in the round. I cast on 96 stitches, have done 2x2 ribbing for about 4 inches, and then stockinette for about 8-8.5 inches total length. I've used 3-needle bind-off because I can do it more quickly than kitchener stitch. I think they look pretty good, if I do say so myself.
I'm hoping to finish the last hat tomorrow night.

I truly envisioned something in a whole other direction. There's gotta be a better name for that. ETA. Just saw the story behind it. Makes more sense now.

Makes more sense now. I did the internal debate whether or not to Google too. I will admit that I thought women were going to walk around with very different hats on. I'm glad they're just cat ear hats. (Hey, come on... remember the vulva sofa? I'm not so off base thinking that hats could be similar.)

Am I the only one that thought you had to knit the little "ear" parts separately or differently? Now I see that they're created by the way the hat fits. Very clever. No wonder y'all were whipping them out so fast. Great job ladies.

I just knitted them flat like in the original pattern I did one flat and I'm doing the second in the round. I gave away the first one so I just wanted to make sure the second one would turn out ok.
