I hate the coupon game too. I refuse to set foot in kohls because it just infuriates me. "You saved $456,986.73 off our pretend prices!!!!" That's a strong reaction!

I like to buy my activewear clothes there. Not much else.

Their girls dept is full of crap and does Hello Kitty need to be on every piece of clothing? Ugh. I used to do really well in JCP for my older DD, but now the stuff is gaudy and cheap quality.

I used to shop there lots--their Worthington line was great for work. More recently, I've not found much I like there. But it might be me, as I'm not finding much I like anywhere

Hit or miss for me too. I do like much of the Ana, Joe Fresh, Worthington, and Liz collections.

Mostly a miss for me these days. I have a couple pairs of ANA jeans that I love from about 3 years ago, but none of the new stuff fits just right. And speaking of the coupons, they keep sending me $10 off $10 purchase coupons (because I have a JCP card?) and so I go in and find a cute baby outfit for 10.99 or so, and walk out paying only $1.07 for a great Carters outfit. My nephews are very stylin these days.

I have noticed that the quality of clothing at most department stores varies wildly, even at Nordstrom. Some pieces you buy are really well made and others, not so much.

It's mostly crap anymore.
Years ago, it was my go-to store. Now most of the time I skip it.

I think I manage to find one good thing there once every couple years. It's been that way since I was a teenager (nearly 20 years ago) If I'm on the hunt for something in particular, I'll give them a shot but rarely ever find something there.

There are a couple of things that we used to buy there all the time that they don't carry anymore. I especially miss the store brand men's wrinkle free dress shirts in the style that my husband likes. I got a great dress and a couple of nice tops there earlier in the summer.

The only thing I find at JcPenny's that I like is the mens cargo shorts. I can never find anything I like or that fits me in the womans section. I have a hard time finding clothes that I like any where though.

I like it. It seems to be the best place for my husband - we can always find what he needs there. I'm plus sized and can do pretty well with the A.N.A. stuff and I also enjoy their jewelry. It's fine for my baby too- it's pretty much all Carter's brand (like EVERY single other big store)but I can sometimes get it cheaper there than anywhere else with a good coupon.

It's hit and miss. Sometimes I really like their tops and their petite section. Same with their clearance, sometimes it's great other times not so much.

I like the Ambrielle bras I get there. Sometimes I will find some shoes or yoga pants. Their clothes really don't do it for me.

We also have a Penny's as an anchor store in our mall. I forget it is even there. Just doesn't ring my bell.

I haven't seen anything attractive there in quite awhile, sorry to say. Used to be one of my best places to find clothes.

I like their JCP brand jeans and the exercise clothes. I got the BEST sports bra there a couple of years ago - there is no jiggle whatsoever, and I'm pretty sure it was less than $20.
They closed a handful of stores in the area but the one nearest me is still open (larger store, larger market), and it is usually pretty well stocked.

I don't know. I few months ago I tried to buy a few things but there were only two registers open on the entire floor. There were at least 10 million people waiting in each line. I left and never went back.

I am a plus-sized gal and they suck! I am 49 not 89. The prints, material, UGH! I do not know who the buyer is for these stores but they should be fired. I really shop exclusively at Torrid or LB. Mainly Torrid because Lane Bryant seems geared toward office wear, slacks, blouses, etc. Lane Bryant's stuff is hit and miss too but sometimes I get lucky. I used to buy my panties and thongs strictly at JP but they stopped carrying the brand I loves so now it's LB.

I am another who hates their girls department. The clothes are so junky and cheap looking.
Dh gets a lot of his clothes there. It is very hit or miss for me. I went today with coupons looking for shirts and didn't find much. I get really annoyed with all the paper thin fabrics. I wish they would just charge a little more for better fabric rather than going with such awful quality stuff.

It seems to be that way for most plus sized clothing. Do you have a Dress Barn? They have the exact same thing on the plus side of the store as on the regular side.

I agree that they tend to be hit or miss, varying with the seasons. I lie the young men's department and often my very picky teen daughter will find a few tops she likes. penneys was the only store (and we checked several) that stocked basic black and khaki pants for my daughter's job. It is our go to store for the guy's socks and underwear. I see that they have a decent workout grouping consisting of a lot of Nike. The kitchen department is very weak in my opinion but the bath and bedding store has some decent merchandise. When I redid my bathroom a few months ago, all the towels and rugs came from there. I also bought all new pillows for everyone an diked the prices and quality.
I think many of the issues have to do with them trying to rebuild their brand, fending off bankruptcy. I heard on the news this morning that they actually had positive gains posted for June. I also have noticed that they send to be sending lots of coupons (which do get me in the store) but not that long ago they tried everyday low pricing which I liked, but people complained and they brought back the coupons. I have things I like about the new JCP and other things that I miss, which includes the near obsolete draperies department. At least they are trying, not going down without a good fight. I hope they survive. Does anyone remember Monkey Wards and how sad they became before they finally lost the battle. One other thing, the stock really varies based on the store - the location, the size, etc. I have one store in a mega mall but the older mall feels like a dumping ground for unwanted stuff.

I hear a lot of people dislike them, but I love Penneys! And only recently, since we moved back 2 years ago, I don't think I ever shopped there before except for maybe baby stuff. My oldest (16 now) detests the stores like Aero, Rue 21, etc, but she loves Penneys and we always find so many cute things that are not "hootchy" in their juniors department. Quality is hit or miss- some last, some fall apart. I find a ton of cute stuff, too, for me. The ANA stuff I love. Good shoes too- my girls love Converse and they have a wide selection. I think DD prefers Penneys because she can get everything in one store, even shoes, she is NOT a fan of shopping.
I shop there a lot, because I can get everything in one spot and not have to run around- shoes here, dress there, etc. Ours always has lots of registers open.

I seriously love A.N.A. It's got a hip vibe for women; I'm at that age where I can't wear young hot mom clothes, but dread the falling into "old women" clothing. It's a cute and inexpensive line, with great sales and JCP coupons from my retailmenot.com app.
I took 16yp DD to JCP because we were looking for "old woman" clothing. She needed a business casual outfit for a student conference, and we left with a basic black pencil skirt and a classic cardigan. Cheaply made, but cheap prices too. I was satisfied.

I agree that it is it or miss for me. Some items are cheaply made but that's fine because I just get more bang for my buck. As for my boys-they are both teens and are growing quick so cheap is good for somethings.

I'm also going to go with "hit or miss." I have an a.n.a. t-shirt on at the moment and some classic pants (Worthington?) for work hanging in my closet.
I've been meaning to go in there and take a look at their workout type clothing. Want a few dri-fit tshirts for a Disney trip next summer and have been trying to find them at end-of-season prices!

I used to love them, but now they are very hit and miss. They used to carry a lot of Tall clothes (online), but now the selection is slim pickings.
