I figured out a long time ago, if I didn't have time to watch a show, I never found time to watch what I recorded.

I have a short attention span. I wouldn't miss it very long. I would probably read more or watch some TV show on netflix.

I can not imagine life without it anymore. Saves my sanity.. if the kids need something and I am at a pivotal moment in a show....no biggie, I can pause it. Haha! When my,kids were little I always said the pause button made me a better parent. It was, "Yes, honey, what do you need?" instead of "GET BACK IN BED RIGHT NOW!!!!!!" TiVo should have marketed it that way when it first came out.

I've never had either and you don't miss what you've never had. I rarely watch TV though so it's not worth the price for me. Same here.

For quite a while I was convinced I didn't need or want one. Then there were a few times I was going to miss Grey's Anatomy, and so I asked my Mom to record it for me to watch when I came over for Sunday dinner. Finally I talked to people who do have one and decided I should just get one. I love it. I never want to be without it now. I love the convenience of watching shows whenever I want. On Demand costs money here, and because of how our cable is set up (I live in an apartment building & the landlord got a bulk deal for the entire complex), it's too complicated.
I do think I should get everything watched that's currently stored on there before the new season starts.

We are moving and I canceled ours 2 months ago. Haven't really missed it but I think it has more to do with it being summer time. Come end of September we better be in a new home. Jen

My cable box/DVR died last night. I went and got a new one today and haven't been able to get it to work. So I am working on 24 hours with no cable or DVR. I watched a movie on Netflix but man their selection is crappy anymore! I want my precious back.

I'd give up my first born child rather than give up my DVR. Well, not really but close. PeaS: my first born child is 48, and I'm sure if asked, he'd give up me before his DVR. Especially during football season!

I occasionally record things but then forget that I have - I can't actually remember the last time I watched something on my DVR.

While we've had DVR for 5 years and love it, we haven't even watched real-time TV in over 3 months. We bought a Roku and pretty much only watch Hulu, Netflix, or PBS. Of course, new prime time episodes for most series aren't airing right now, so that will likely change in the fall. I noticed this week when I turned on the TV that it is set to the Roku. We've stopped bothering to change the input to live TV.

We have had a dvr since 2003 or 04, but I love it. We actually have 2, one for the kids and one for us. Love skipping the commercials, pausing and having the freedom to watch when I want. I hope we never have to give it up.

We have a TiVo on every TV. We've had them for years and when I upgrade, I just use the older models on the other TVs. I never watch stuff when it's actually on. I DVR the news every night and DH and I usually watch it about 9 pm. With all the kids' activities, we are seldom home in the evening. It's nice to not even think about recording the show--TiVo just does it. If we do watch live TV, we wait until about 15 minutes into the show before watching so that we can FF through commercials.

This summer easily since there isn't much on I care to watch. Now come Fall when I'm homebound with my new baby, I would never dream of it.

DH and I went 5 years without cable and only got it again about a year ago. I think we would both be fine being without it again. Just don't take our internet away!

I could get along fine without it because we've never had one. lol. Just about everything that I watch on TV is online the next week. The CBS shows like "Survivor" and "Amazing Race" are online, and I watch other series on Netflix. Yeah I'm not watching in "real time" but I don't care. I guess I don't really have a series right now that I'm invested in. Well, "Doctor Who" (seven more days, in case you weren't counting ) but I don't plan to miss that one. lol

I'm the only one in my household that ever uses it, and I don't use it often. I think I could easily live without it.

I love love love my DVR but I could live without it. There isn't much TV that I consider can't miss. If there was something that I couldn't miss, I would just make sure to be home to watch it. I guess the one time I would really miss it is football season. My kids make watching a football game live really hard. The pause button on the DVR comes in super handy during the game.

We got rid of cable over a year ago so no DVR. I really don't miss it but I watch far less TV now.
