The spa at the Grand Wailea in Hawaii has an area with different spa experiences/fragrances. You shower before you enter any of them. Pretty much everyone was naked.

NO --No one wants to see me naked and I don't want to have to make sure my eyes are averted so no one thinks I'm oogling someone else's personal bits.

Nay for me personally, but it wouldn't bother me if someone else was nude.
I do go in to the steam room in just a towel.

My mom and sisters and I love to go to this crazy ass place called The Spa Castle - tons of hot tubs and saunas and massages etc... You can't wear a bathing suit in the hot tub area. The signs say so, so it's just bare assed or nothing. There are women of all shapes, sizes, colors, ages there and no one is looking at anyone else, so we go for it.

Count this ole granny woman out.
Do any of you have health concerns with sharing a hot tub with others? Other than family.

Count this ole granny woman out. Do any of you have health concerns with sharing a hot tub with others? Other than family. Some years ago DH and I were in a naturally-heated geothermal swimming pool with some of his work colleagues (it was during a trip out of town with his work-place soccer team). DH and his colleagues were all microbiologists - so here we were in the heated swimming pool with them talking about all the other organisms that were likely to be in there with us!! However, I figured that if they were ok about, then no need for me to be too concerned. They did say not to put your head underwater in there though!

I don't care if people wear suits or not in the locker room hot tub. I've seen both. Why do some people say it's so icky? I don't get that. Are there special naked cooties that can't make it through a bathing suit? Water goes places...kwim? PLACES. And then it comes back out...like a douche. Ya wanna be sitting in a big, giant douche bowl? Yuck. Good lord Miz, talk about a hideous visual LOL! I know that logically a bathing suit probably doesn't really make that much difference, but in my mind it is saving me from other women's floating nasty bits.

Pea bay- we are going to NYC in December and King Spa and Spa Castle are on my list to visit. As close as I can get to a "real" spa in the us!

I'm not a fan of the human soup that is a public hot tub so I would not be comfortable myself, but no judgement here if you want to let your bits and pieces show.

I say "nay" but whatever. Even weirder: There's a lady at my gym (elderly lady) who likes to sit bare ass naked on the benches near the lockers (not on a towel) and eat her apples. Okayyyyyyy.... Why is it that it's always the elderly ladies walking or sitting around nude. And Nay on the naked in the hot tub.

I wouldn't like that at all! I want people to be clothed in the hot tub.

Locker room - ok. Sauna - towel, please. Hot tub - weird! (and I'm not going in there)

Big NO. I don't belong to a gym now, but when I did, signs were clearly posted that everyone must shower before entering and swimsuits must be worn.

I'm sure Melissa could expand on this, but actually, I don't think the water goes in, in. Doesn't pressure keep it out? Or am I high? Like it doesmt usually go in, in your ears, and when it does it's a big pain in the ass, but it usually doesn't. I thought there was some sort of pressure from the water or something that kept it out. Course it's swirling around all the pink bits, but that is regardless of nudity, so the Asian method of "scrub every bit, then go in sans clothes" is more hygienic than the us "wash nothing and wear a bit of Lycra".
Am I nuts? I just really don't think water is swooshing in my vagina, for some reason. Help me out, someone.

I can picture it now. We're on vacation and the kids ask if they can go in the douche bowl. I'm not a fan of hot tubs for this very reason and never use them. A strip of Lycra doesn't change the cootie issue. But now I don't think I could ever let my kids use one either!

Meh. Don't care.
The gym I belong to is actually a "health and fitness spa", and so it caters to a wealthy clientele that curves toward the 65+ range. If I was worried about nudity, I could never be a member there. There are literally gaggles of old naked women having conversations in the locker room. I never see them working out so I assume the nakedness is the point. Who knows? I get my workouts and my showers and don't ask any questions.

Nudity in a hot tub doesn't bother me. Then again, I went to college in Santa Cruz and going to the hot tubs in Big Sur (where everyone was naked) was a co-ed trip we took on many weekends, not to mention no clothing at any of the local hot tub and massage places.

I swim laps at my gym but I would never get in the hot tub with or without a suit. It's is just icky and slimy to me. I always change in the private changing rooms after I swim, but most people are fine just stripping naked and changing right out in the open. Today there was a naked woman having a full blown conversation on her cell. It was annoying that she was on her phone, but pretty weird that she was naked.
