I need to purchase a new platform for my electric Big Shot. Should I get the regular size or the extended size? I don't have any of the longer dies so I really don't need it for that. I just wonder if it's worth it so I can cut more things at a time.
Any opinions?

I have both the multipurpose platform and extended one plus the magnetic one. I don't have a lot of long dies but do like lining up a whole lot of dies on the extended platform. Saying that, I probably still use the regular size more. Still if you can get it for a good price it would give you options for the longer dies.

I would only get it if you need to cut a lot of shapes at one time very often. I have the Big Kick and the regular multi platform, the magnetic one and the extended one. I only use the extended one when I am using one of the long dies. I only have a few of those. If you have the extended platform that means extended plates too, unless you carefully line up the others. Plus it needs more room behind the machine to let the die roll through.

If you get the extended you have to buy the shims separate I have all 3 but use my magnetic the most Definitely the extended platform. If you are only cutting a few dies, you can just use the smaller cutting plates (instead of the extended cutting plates). The platform will just slide through after it gets to the end of the cutting plate, since the sandwich then isn't thick enough to hit the rollers. I'd also recommend the magnetic platform if you use wafer thin dies. I like how it keeps the dies from shifting around. Now if it only came as an extended platform, I'd be in heaven!
