I don't know about any of you, but this man deserves better than to have his last days and now remains to be treated better by his wife than this. This man was such an integral part of my childhood that it infuriates me that such a wonderful person had such a crappy end. His impact upon the world of music will never be forgotten; his wife did not honor this legendary man at all. www.billboard.com/articles/news/6221511/casey-kasem-to-be-buried-in-norway?utm_source=twitter

TMZ joked that it's like weekend at bernies. I'd love to hear his wife's side of the story. I just can't justify any of her actions.

She really has been despicable in this whole situation. The poor man deserves to be laid to rest where he preferred, and where his entire family can visit. Such a shame...

fixed: who knew all you had to do was just paste the link in by itself, without having to insert, lol.
Casey Kasem was a pioneer in the arena of radio announcing; his most notable work included the weekly "Top 40" recap on radio. He also lended his voice to a lot of commercials later in his career.

That is just so wrong. Is she doing this to spite his kids? What a piece of work!

Personally, I do think she is doing it out of spite. She didn't get her way so now she is trying to have the last laugh come hell or high water.

Yea so sad for the family, it sounds like it was out of spite they've been in battle for some time, I still remember listening to him on the radio.

Without us being privy to comings and goings of that family, I am amazed at how many are so quick to jump on the anti Jean wagon. As I have learned over all my years, there are always two sides to every story. It isn't as if she was married to him for just a couple of years. They were married over 30 years which is longer than most marriages these days and the articles I read made it sound liKe his children from his previous marriage never liked her, nor made amends to smooth the waters. I think as the current wife of such long standing should have been able to bury him as she sees fit. Do any of us really know why she chose Norway? Is there anything written from Kasey stating his final wishes? It sounds like the relationships were strained for years. If I were Jean, I would be hopping mad if someone tried to take over my husband, as his daughter was attempting at the end. I don't even know why a judge would have gotten involved. My dad has been married for 20 years, after a 32 year marriage to my mother ended and I believe that his current wife's wishes when that time comes, trumps mine and my brother's wishes. If she asks me, I will be glad to speak up. My mom in her spitefulness has requested that she be buried next to him. I don't understand that at all but funny how people get caught up in things like this.
My other thought is why are they still fighting over his remains anyhow. He has passed and what is left is not Kasey. What they really have and maybe should be focused on is what is in their hearts as a tribute to his memory. Money seems to be at the root of this and that is sad. Do they really even remember what they are fighting over. This certainly can't be good for the relationship that the first children have with their half sibling. It depends on which side you are on as to who is being spiteful.

His wife was being investigated for elder abuse. I wonder if that is why she cremated his body.

Casey Kasem was also the voice of Shaggy (Scooby Doo) for 28 years.
It's my belief, though I have no proof, that Jean Kasem purposely drove a wedge between Casey and his children so that she could control him and his estate and be the sole beneficiary. Her actions all these years that his children have sought contact with him and her actions during his illness and after his death kind of solidify that belief.
If she truly cared about him, she wouldn't have dragged his decomposing body around all these many weeks before putting him to rest in a place that makes no sense, with none of his family or friends in attendance. He deserved so much better than that.

It's really odd that they (which means the local Church council) has agreed to this, because the main rule is that only residents in the parish can be buried there.

His wife is of Norwegian descent... I don't know if she has family or a summer home there, but maybe she plans to move back there... Retire with the money? And wants him close...
I always remember her from Cheers... She was Carla's ex (the hockey player), second wife - or wife after Carla, at least... Super tall, very blonde long hair, and in the show, a very ditzy voice... Played a very stereotypical dumb blonde type character... She owns a crib business though, and has a bunch of inventions/patents... Thanks all I got...lol

It states in the article that Casey specifically requested to be buried at Forest Lawn in Los Angeles. His wife has serious issues, to say the least.

Penny - I remember her from Cheers, too. She creeped me out then, she creeps me out now. Unfair as that may sound, my gut says what it says. And I trust my gut. It's never steered me wrong.

The local parish council has stated that they don't know anything about this (it's not for the county administration to decide where he can be buried). If his children are against the wive's plans, all they have to do is to appeal to the parish council. The parish council's decision is final, and because none of them are local residents, it's very likely they will not agree to a burial.

I actually started following the story when he was still alive. During the last few years as his health was declining she started keeping his kids from visiting. He always had a relationship with his kids but the kids and current wife apparently never did get along well. Once his health started getting really bad she barred them from seeing them so they had no communication as to how their father was doing. The kids went to court to get visitation with him and it was granted. He had his will was set up so that his daughter had the authority to make medical decisions for him but his wife was able to make the burial decisions. Once they were granted the visitation she took off with him as he was dying and "hid" him from the kids. They had to go to court to get a court order for her to turn him over....they just wanted to see him before he died and see how he was doing. The court granted this in Los Angeles but they had to go to court again in Washington to see if the court there would uphold the decision - and it was upheld. Once the kids got to them they were permitted through the court to have him taken to a hospital to be examined - that's when he died in the hospital and the Los Angeles DA had pending charges of elder abuse because apparently he had sores from the traveling and everything the wife put him through in the end. Once he died she had his body sent to a mortuary in Canada, she wanted a cremation so that the investigation couldn't continue because of no body to examine. So now she has moved him again and it keeps on going.
I think it's just sad...there is obviously no love lost between her and his kids but it's just wrong for her to put him through this in the end and in death.

So so sad. That poor man's body has been hauled all over the place, and I believe because his wife was afraid of the pending investigation of the charges of elder abuse.

I feel sorry for his kids. It does seem like they wanted to see him and she thwarted their attempts. Now she's just coming off as a few bricks shy.

When she threw a pound of hamburger meat at the daughter and had Kasey hid in a home with little or no medical attention, that's when I said she's kooky and wants to retire on a ton of money.
