I was in the Big Box neighborhood so I popped in to see if my super-duper crappy Joann's had the good stuff, and sure enough half the shelves were empty, which sadly is normal, but this time they had signs about new products coming soon! And they had American Crafts paper pads already stocked, included some Amy Tangerine and Shimelle and other lines I've never seen there before. Great news. I felt bad for people going shopping there and only having crap to choose from. It seemed to give scrapbooking a bad name.
(SLightly random, but something that surprised me -- last year I went to a LSS just up the road from this Joann's, a nice place that has tons of good brand name stuff. I asked the owner (I assumed) if she was going to get Shimelle's Starshine collection and she looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. I repeated myself in a different way (I do have an accent) and mentioned that Shimelle was an American Crafts brand and all I got was a blank look and some nonsense that made it sound like she didn't know who American Crafts were... Seemed very odd. To think that crappy Joann's is now carrying these lines and the LSS is not seems very odd to me.)
Anyway, while I was at Joann's I picked up some of the single sheets from AC and sure enough, they're as thin as copy paper. I handed one to a friend to feel and compare to paper from the AC pads and she was shocked the second it was in her hand. She's not a scrapbooker but she was expecting something a lot sturdier than the paper I handed her. Seems very strange to me that the single sheets would be thin and the paper pads thicker - seems like if it was the pad paper that was thin they could get away with that easier. I don't even know how you'd get those single sheets home without creasing them up unless you bought dozens...

I stopped in today and there wasn't anything new but there was an empty space so I'm hopeful. I'll check back again soon.

I ran to Joanns today and they had started adding to the stamp section - Mama Elephant stamps + dies, and more Hero Arts Stamps + Dies. From the packaging of the ME stuff, I guess they partnered with Hampton Arts? Anyway, they had Hampton Arts stamps and dies as well. OMG! That would be great. I really dislike them the way they are now, but if they would consider joining the rest of the scrapbook world in terms of their supply, I would deal and shop there.

I think it's great and while I fully admit I'm happy to shop sales, I can't help but think of the impact it's going to have on the industry...especially LSS and small online shops if things like this continue.

I hear you. I will always shop online, but there are no LSS w/in about 40 miles of me and haven't been for at least 5 years.

Can you give me the barcode to one? I would love to call my store and see if they have them...screw the SB, lol. The best commercials will be on YT anyway. They are so cute...and I kind of had a squirrel moment and didn't see the part of the HA partnership because I was too busy going 'omg, omg, omg, need to buy all the things.' Sorry about that! I never got around to calling J's yesterday...going to do that this morning, but my concerns were confirmed. I asked about the partnership on Mama Elephant's page and they said it was a limited release. We usually don't get those, which means I probably won't be able to get any of these lovely stamps. We did get the KP stuff last year, so that's my only hope right now. Sigh.

mom I think I'm going to become a pain in the ass to you. Did you pick up all of the options or are there more than four? My store isn't doing that part of the set up until next week, so it looks like I'm going to have a wait.

I went over there this morning to get some tape to hem a pair of pants and looked over at the scrapbook section. It is getting a complete overhaul. Shelves were bare. Will have to check back in a week and see what happens.

There were still a ton of empty spaces where stamps will be going, so there may be more coming.

Stopped by yesterday, there were Tim Holtz products on clearance, they also moved TH inks to to the expanded TH section. The album section was cut in half. The stamping section now fills a whole aisle on one side but they weren't stocking product until that night.

OK, FINE! I'll go next week!! Sheesh! Twist my arm why don't ya! This is my Joanns too. It's like the bargain basement of a store in some third world country. I only go there if I need thread, which is sad, because I would spend money there if they had any products. Almost spit coffee on my screen!!

That explains it! I stopped at a Joann's yesterday and it looked like they were going out of business. Most of the paper craft shelves were empty and whole sections had been removed. I guess my location is getting a major reset, too.
^^^ this is what my local J's looked like, too! I was kinda worried, actually. I did find all the paper pads from the photo, down the aisle with the DCWV paper stacks; it seemed like an odd place to have them all, to me. Most of the other aisles were empty, and the shelves were halfway dismantled-- it was kind of creepy.
After all that searching, I only bought one Pink Paislee 6x6 pad. All the Crate Paper lines looked too similar to stuff I already own, and the Amy Tan and Shimelle stuff looked 'too cute' to me. I think that means I'm either getting sick, or I have way too much paper already, lol!! I wish they had better / different embellishments, too. I'm getting tired of the same old stuff on the wall of Sticko and Jolee's stickers.

So I stopped in today to see what all new they had added to my store.
All of the new AC lines were there, in 12x12 pad. Nice thick paper. The new Dear Lizzy, Shimelle, and Amy Tan lines. I was super surprised to see them there already.

I have 2 JoAnns near me. I went to the one 1/2 an hour SW, but they were still just clearancing out the old stuff. The only paper packs they had were there own DCWV. They had lots, but they were spread out to cover the length of the whole aisle.
The store 1/2 half a isn't hour to my west is a bigger nicer store, but I don't get out that way too often. Soon, I hope!

I went to one today that I don't normally go to. They had clearanced out a TON of stuff, lots of Tim Holtz which surprised me. But they had at least thirty stamp sets from Mama Elephant, Hampton Arts, and Hero Arts, most with matching dies. They also had smaller stamp sets for $1.99, but the sentiments in them were pretty decent sized for cards. I spent way more than I meant to!

I wonder if it's worth a trip to my local store.... It's the saddest place. Not small, but any means. But the shelves are always two-thirds empty and they never have anything good. I have no idea how they stay in business. (OK, I guess I do - they sell a lot of fabric and decor stuff). But their papercraft aisles are pathetic. The Michaels two blocks down the street looks like a high end store in comparison. I hope they do get some brand name paper pads for the sake of their customers. This is exactly what my Joann's is like. I only go when the kids need something fabric or sewing related for school. Save
