I continue to be surprised that people have hope in this guy. For example Skypea, what is the hope? When the entire world is being alienated, how is that making America great again? How are you finding hope in what is really a dismal reality. I think that for skypea and millions of others like her, they literally only care that he isn't Obama. They don't understand Trump's EOs. They don't understand who Bannon is. They don't know enough about politics on a world scale to be scared. They literally only care that there's a rich old white man in office again.

How are you finding hope in what is really a dismal reality. It is surprising me too. I am just waiting for some more reasonable Republicans to admit that this was all a big mistake. The thing is, they can't even say 'this isn't what we voted for', as it is EXACTLY what he said he would do. Looking at it all from this side of the world, it is very scary.

Skypea - can you actually respond to any criticism of Trump without referring to Obama? No, she can't. Well, if you are doing the donate $1 to ACLU or PP thing every time she brings up DBO, this could be ok. Save

Can I ask a silly question? Are these real covers published by the magazines or just mock ups by people? They are quite shocking but definitely how I am feeling.

To be fair, every photo I've seen of Bannon he has the red nose and bloodshot eyes. He's often unshaven. In fact, I saw a photo of him yesterday cleaned up in an offical White House meeting (meaning he was actually wearing a pressed suit) and I was shocked at how bad his nose looked. I was going to say the same thing. Pretty much every photo I've seen of him looks like that.

Here’s what worries reasonable people who are beginning to realize Bannon is the one making policy. (Excerpt from the Time Magazine in this thread)
In Trump, Bannon found his ultimate outsider. He frequently had the candidate on his radio show, and former staffers say he ordered a steady stream of pro-Trump stories. Now Bannon’s imprint can be seen on presidential decisions ranging from the hiring of former Breitbart staffers to key White House positions to the choice of Andrew Jackson’s portrait – a Bannon idol – for display near the President’s desk.
"Where Bannon is really having his instinct is on the policy front,” says a longtime Trump ally. Which policies? “All of them. He’s Trump’s facilitator.” In a Trump White House, this adviser says, you can only get – and keep – as much power as the President wants you to have. But Trump and Bannon “sat down before the election and made a list of things they wanted to do in office right away,” says this adviser. Trump is the one deciding which items to tick off. “Bannon’s just smart enough to give him the list.”

So far, I've been OK with all of them except for one. Most of them seem to be showing a concern for the results of his presidency, and its effects on democracy and the reputation of America.
The one cover I've disagreed with was an Irish magazine (Village) that shows him with a gunsight on his head and the title "Why Not?" That one doesn't have any sort of commentary on democracy and is a call for violence rather than anything constructive.

You can take a look at a few more at the Barnes & Noble newsstand section under current events. I applaud these magazines for their powerful covers and am sure the panic is moving to a fever pitch in the Republican leadership. They thought they would be able to control Trump and use him to push through their agenda and have no clue how to rein him in and get rid of Bannon. B&N current event magazines

A tangent: "snåsamannen", an old man who (at least according to his hordes of fans) predicted the assassination of John F. Kennedy, has said that Trump will be shot.

This one might provoke a response: Believe me, I am no fan of Bannon but they either found or sketched the most disgusting picture they could find. This picture has all the elements: dirty hands, bloodshot eyes, red nose (stereotype of heavy drinkers), dirty hair, hairy body. The only thing missing is pointy teeth and his hands are shielding his closed mouth. Pretty funny though. I imagine this is an actual photo NOT phostoshopped. This is what he appears to me to look like on tv. I think other photos of him may have been photoshopped to reduce the red nose and bloodshot eyes.

Interesting though. Has he predicted any other assassinations that didn't happen, that he was wrong about?

Shabbat. Javanka isn't there to mitigate the crazy today. I just read that somewhere. He does seem to be particularly unchained on Friday night and Saturday.

She is angry, bitter, and needs someone to blame. I don't put her on ignore because she responds exactly how many in this country would respond if they were on an anonymous message board and it is important to see how crazy and assholian the other side can be.

Honestly, I can't remember any image of him where he doesn't look like he just woke up on someone's couch after a two-day bender. Makes me wonder how alcohol-impaired he is. Scary when you combine it with Trump's mental illness.

CNN had several women from Arizona on this morning that supported Trump. The blind adoration, frankly, frightened me. It was like they were followers in a cult. They made comments like, "I love him." And, "He's wonderful." They didn't say even one thing that made me think they understood, or even knew of, his political policies and actions.
