We've never been to the area, so I'm totally lost on how to even start figuring this out. I'm hoping to get some suggestions here. The plan is for DH and DS to fly from Chicago, either Friday night or Saturday morning, and then fly back home I'm guessing Monday. What airport would be the best, and is it close to the Stadium? If they stay near the Stadium, is there anything close to see/do on Saturday, and would they need a car? I'm not so sure DH would be up for figuring out public transportation, so he'd either want a car or I guess a hotel with a shuttle to the game. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start? I really hope this works out. Being from Chicago we're (DH for sure) Bears fans by default, lol, except for DS. He's a huge Tom Brady and Patriots fan. Luck would have it the Bears are playing NE ON his birthday! I don't know that this would ever happen again, and if it did, Tom Brady could be long gone. So we thought this would be one heck of a birthday trip. Too bad the game wasn't here. If the trip starts to get totally outrageous, the backup plan is they can drive to Indianapolis to watch NE vs. Colts, but the Bears would be awesome. Thanks so much!

How fun for your son! That's going to make a great birthday gift.
I'm not really familiar with the area but Foxborough is about 22 miles from Boston and 18 miles from Providence, RI so you might want to check the airfare to both to see which has the best price.

The stadium isn't really near much except a small outdoors mall. The mall has a few shops and restaurants. (Toby Keith's restaurant, Red Robin, etc) Other than the sporting goods shops there isn't much for two guys to do in walking distance. And as lindas said, it's miles to any airport. Hope they have fun at the game, what a great birthday gift! BTW I'd be rooting for the Bears out of that match-up, too!

So it sounds like it's not much difference, but for a few miles and at my first glance pricing doesn't seem to have a big difference, to fly into either airport. And doesn't sound like much going on around the Stadium to stay near it. Any suggestions on another area to stay, to be able to maybe see something, and shuttle to the game?

We've been a couple times (I am a Bills fan)...fly into Boston and that's where I would stay to be honest. It's not far BUT...do you have tickets already> Sometimes game tickets are hard to get. You could stay closer but I am unsure where...they play in Foxboro

What a GREAT birthday present! They will have a great time. I have never heard of shuttles to professional football games - I'll be watching this with interest. Is there any way for them to rent a car?

I know around here, some hotels and/or bars will have game day events; i.e., food, tickets, transportation, etc. I started to search Patriots Game Packages and am starting to come up with options, some for tickets only, some with hotel and tickets, some with hotel-tickets-car. I'm starting to think this is the best option to look further into instead of trying to piece it together by myself. If I can get a decent package, all we have to do is figure out where to fly into.
It would be nice if they were able to go see a place or two on Saturday. Maybe if we figure the rest out, dh can search some more into those options.
Thanks for the suggestions so far.
