having an ablation done feb. 21. have searched here and read about cramping, what new periods were like, etc. but I'm not seeing anything about how long the discharge usually lasts. we're going on a caribbean cruise 4.5 weeks after the ablation and I'll basically be living in a swim suit. I'd like to not have to bring a ton of feminine hygiene products with me.
are my chances good that my business will be back to normal then? or should I wait til after the cruise to get it done? I want to get it done like yesterday but i'll suck it up and wait if I have to.
ETA it's the novasure procedure, if that matters.

I had mine years ago but I think I only had discharge for less than a week.

I think you'll get a lot of different responses, but I had a watery...like pee my pants...discharge for about 6 weeks. I don't remember at what point it was enough to where I was considering the pee pads, but I think by 4.5 weeks out it should be light enough to be safe in a swim suit. One word of caution, while I suffered through the discharge by using period pads, they aren't really meant for such a thin liquid. Poise pads, or the like, would be a better choice.

I had my ablation in early December. I believe that the discharge lasted 3-4 weeks. However, I have bladder issues anyway so it may have been hard to tell. I didn't have any bleeding, though.

It's been about 6 years since I had mine (Novasure). I remember just a couple weeks of on/off discharge. After that point, you may have a drop or two, but seriously you will only notice when you wipe. I say go for the vacation! It will be better than having a horrendous period on vacation! Although, check with your doctor, you may not be able to swim or use a hot tub right away.

ETA oops, my quote from my phone didn't work. was going to say, thanks for the tip about the pads! I was thinking panty liners, but that might not work then.

I had the ThermaChoice done, so maybe that's why I had so much discharge. I didn't bleed though.

Could you use a Diva cup? I've never had an ablation - so just throwing it out there as a possibility.

thank you, I hope we will! it's our first, taking our 2 boys who are 9 and 12. we're all pretty excited but I do wonder if i'll like it as much as just relaxing at a beach resort. it was the best way to see several different locales tho!

I wonder if it would be ok or if the suction of removing it would be an issue? not supposed to use tampons or anything in the vagina for a month afterwards. i'll ask tho, thanks for suggesting it. I tried something similar a couple years ago and couldn't get the hang of it, but I could give it another go.
