And he is coming to his Winter White House yet again! At least that is what all the news media in S FL are reporting.

Of course he is. He's doing it "his way". Taxpayer costs to support a non-tax-paying billionaire jetting to his golf resort 3 weekends in a row be damned.

You know, in a regular world, I would not care where the President chooses to spend his weekends. But since THIS guy was elected by the same crowd who roared in fury every time President Obama took a vacation or played golf, the hypocrisy of them being perfectly fine with this is infuriating. Trump is being exactly who we'd knew he be. What exactly do conservatives stand for at this point? Fiscal responsibility and national security apparently aren't anywhere on the list anymore.

Obama was roasted for taking time off and this is ok? Every weekend?
The Presidency is NOT a five day a week, 9-5 job.

Obama's travels averaged $10 million a year. Trump is approaching $9 million in less than a month.
Where are those bean counting Republicans?

I was under the impression that he was still doing presidential things at Mara-largo (sp?). Either day, save the money and get them done at the WH.

The taxpayers pay for the White House in DC. STAY THERE. I don't have a problem with vacations and such, but this is bordering on ridiculous, especially when you take into account the money being spent to secure Trump Tower in NY because she won't move to the WH.

I predict we see a rise in provocative international incidents on weekends. Wonder how much building the "Winter Situation Room" is going to cost the taxpayers, not to mention the rent for the space to Trump.
Shouldn't he at least try Camp David once before writing it off if he wants to get out of the real White House?
And where do all the aids/security stay? Are they at Mar a Lago or billeted somewhere else? Who was paying for Gen Flynn, Bannon et als wedge salad dinners? They getting per diem and then paying Trump's place for dinner? I'm sure a room at Mar a Lago is above the normal government travel rate.

Yes - we are paying for their meals, which in turn are paid back to him at HIS restaurants. Huge conflict of interest that is being systematically ignored by the GOP currently.

Obama's travels averaged $10 million a year. Trump is approaching $9 million in less than a month. Where are those bean counting Republicans? I think politico is overstating the cost of Trump flying to Florida as they based it on Obama's Florida vacation that cost $3 million - but that included a "detour" to Chicago. If you actually look at the report the logistics of moving personnel to a city is huge - so that little detour to Chicago was actually substantial. Check out page 9 - which shows the various flights of the military cargo planes. It's not just Air Force 1. I was also shocked by the number of Coast Guard ships involved! www.gao.gov/assets/690/680400.pdfI hear Judicial Watch has requested under FOIA the costs for Trump's first trip down. Unless the costs are hugely overstated, he's going to need to find a cheaper way to get out of White House or keep his ass in DC.

It's not just the cost. It's where a big chunk of that cost (taxpayer money) is going. Right into trump's pocket.
If he wants a weekend away. Let him go to Camp David.

Isn't Camp David pretty rustic? I'm betting that won't suit King Donald at all.

Isn't Camp David pretty rustic? I'm betting that won't suit King Donald at all. It is. It's beautiful and rustic and simple. Not his style at all. Those 3 helicopters fly over my house to get there and as far as I know, he hasn't made the trek. One of my former students was staff there and always enjoyed it when Bush or Obama came.

I tried to determine just how much of the $ is going into Trump's pocket. The GAO piece detailing Obama's trip to Palm Beach really gives one a sense of the sheer magnitude of the security operation. I doubt they could realistically house all those people in guest rooms at Mar-a-lago. I saw one little snippet from a local Palm Beach paper that discussed the impact on business and one of the local hotels mentioned being sold out with media and secret service. I imagine a whole lot of the logistics for security for the POTUS is classified. I know the first family is always responsible for their own lodging - and there was a snippet about Trump not allowing foreign guests to pay to avoid an ethics law (which is why he made a point in saying he was paying for the prime minister). I haven't seen anything on policy regarding other government expense for additional personnel.

Regardless of who stays where in Florida there will be members of the Secret Service and his White House staff that will be at Mar a Logo and money will be spent that goes into trump's pocket. That is what I have a problem with a president benefiting financially for his business. We may get a clearer idea of how much trump is benefiting from these trips to Mar a Logo as I read Judicial Watch is filing suit to find out that very information. Judicial Watch is the group who filed suit to get Hillary's emails at the State Department

I saw pics of Melania in the WH with Mr & Mrs Netanyahu on this morning's news; I hadn't seen her there since the inauguration so I was wondering if she just prefers the Winter WH and if that plays into his decision as much as the golf and such.

The world doesn't stop just because Donald trump wants to go play golf and sit in the sunshine every weekend.
