We all have them. What is the strangest thing you have in your space that you USE for creating?
What is the strangest that is just there?
Fess up!

Not in my office, but our graphic artist at work bought a silhouette to cut vinyl wall art for work. Cracked me up when he came to pick my brain about what to buy because he knew i was a scrapbooker.

I don't know: like the Febreeze ad that says I might be "nose blind", maybe I am "strange blind"...
Is using a step stool as a shelf under my scrap counter strange? I can always move the stuff off it and then use it to climb up to find more stuff...

I don't have a paper trimmer. I use an Xacto knife and a thin metal ruler on a homemade cutting board that I made in the 1980s in an art class.
It's a sheet of glass adhered to a sheet of Masonite by wrapping the edges with masking tape, and there's a sheet of white paper sandwiched between them. It works as my acrylics palate too, and any dried paint is easily scraped off into the trash with a straight razor.
I never needed or wanted a trimmer. It's just one more plastic thing that will break and have to be replaced. This has always worked great for me.

Magnetic vent covers. I remember going to Menards and looking for them and asked my DH what aisle they would be located in. He said something like "you want what for what???" It took longer to explain why I wanted them than it did to find them in the store. One day he came in to my craft room and asked if he could have one to use what it was actually meant to be used for. LOL

My husband, on the rare occasion he comes into my designated craft room, appears uncomfortable & out-of-place.

Looking around, I'd have to say me. lol.
My craft room is also my office space and the entryway to the only current working bathroom. So I have a shelving unit which is divided into some craft and some storage (medicines, vitamins, extra soap, extra light bulbs, etc.) and another cube unit that has towels/washcloths, rugs, and a bin for each of us for gloves/hats. I just consider it a necessity and not odd though.

My craft space is in what would be a formal dining room in a normal house, but since it's between the living room and kitchen all kinds of random stuff ends up in there... but on a permanent basis the oddest thing is probably this 1950's era statue (probably 18 inches tall or so) of a woman in a hula skirt. It was my Grandpa's... I have a hutch in my room, the statue fits in the top area, and I don't have to worry it will get knocked over by kids or it falling off a shelf in an earthquake. At her feet are all my small craft tools (can't leave them out or my kids will "borrow" them) and adhesives.

bench I bought for extra seating at table. I use it in my scrap book room when I don't have a lot of guests.

My husband, on the rare occasion he comes into my designated craft room, appears uncomfortable & out-of-place. Mine too! I don't think he likes it down in my lair. It can't be the mess either because his office is ten times worse than my studio! Now having said that, I probably have a lot of odd things that I don't really consider odd simply because I just like them. A five year old lollipop that is attached like a pacifier to monster teeth that cover your mouth? A pack of 8 sets of "ugly teeth" that I was going to take to a themed crop but forgot them at home. 3 or 4 red foam clown noses. I don't know. I have a lot of weird stuff!

I would have to say baby wipes and a tension rod. But they are really not that strange once I explain how they are used.
Baby wipes of course is used to clean my Pazzles mat.
As for the tension rod. Since I am paralyzed from the waist down I had to get creative in storing things. A couple of years ago I was having a hard time figuring out how to store my growing stash of washi tape. What I had been doing wasn't working for me any more. I was having a hard time trying to think of somewhere I could store it that I could see it, it be out of the way, and that I could reach.
On my scrap table (which I ended up designing) are two cubes with drawers in them. I store small items and adhesives in these drawers. Above the drawers is a shelf that give me additional space to lay things when I'm working on a LO. I ended up putting a tension rod below the shelf to put the washi tape on. It has worked well for me.

The oddest item I have right now is an old DMC floss store display with drawers of cubbies that I use for small storage like clips, buttons, etc., or the loop floss threaders I used to get ribbon, strings, etc. through small holes since I have problems with my hands.
What I've really been thinking about that would definitely be my oddest item is a laser cutter. I REALLY wish Silhouette would step up and make me a reliable home version, but I'm sure the safety issues are a nightmare. Hobby lasers are comfortably under $300 now, and I'm really sure I'd put it in my garage bc of ventilation, not my actual scrapbook space, but with a laser you can make your own rubber stamps out of actual pink rubber, both etching and cutting the rubber, you can cut felt, cut/engrage wood veneer and acrylics... (Small lasers won't cut metal.) Wouldn't it be awesome to use your die-cut designs with all those OTHER media? I figure as much as I live and swear by my Cameo, and since I make so many of my own designs anyway, I might really have fun with a laser cutter.

I don't use it to craft with, but I guess the oddest thing in my scraproom is the people treadmill we bought for the dogs to use I asked for it for my birthday to get my dog in condition for dog sports (agility and scootering). Luckily both dh and I use for ourselves in addition to the dog. But the original purpose was for the dog

i have two typewriters behind my desk. How about three laptop computers and a desktop computer? All on the same desk! next to the typewriters is a sewing machine that sits next to large MAC. the iPad comes and visits once in a while but stays largely off the desk area. i finally got rid of my printer and just use DH's printer in the other room.

For a long time I had what seemed like a lost, dirty sock in my scrap space. Actually, I used it to press down on glossy pictures to adhere to cardstock or paper and wipe off fingerprints. It looked dirty because I used to ink the edges of all my pages back then. One time at crop I muttered to myself, "Where is my dirty sock?" My friend looked at me strangely and said, "Your what?" I realized I needed to call it something else. It was so convenient, though. I could just slip the sock on and smooth down the pictures. I wonder what happened to my dirty sock...
Another strange thing in my scrap space is an emery board that I don't use for my nails. I use it when I adhere patterned paper or cardstock to chipboard. I file down the sides and corners to give it a blended look. You can hardly see where they come together. I also use it on paper that I've cut when my trimmer blade has become dull and doesn't make a smooth cut. I file off the rough bits.

My collection of tin robots? My collection of vintage toy kaleidoscopes? A huge dollhouse I designed, that I have in my studio for my grandkids to play with when they come to visit? My whole studio is pretty strange actually.

Dental floss. I use it to peel photos out of those yucky old magnetic photo albums.

It took me awhile to answer this because of the caveat of something strange I actually use for scrapbooking. Well I have surmised that the strangest thing I have is actual scrapbook supplies! My scraproom has been taken over by everyone else's stuff including bins of clothes from my son's room, husband's games and books, so much other CRAP that the fact there is any scrapstuff in sight is the most unusual thing.

I had to think bcz right now it is a huge mess bcz I decided to just start pulling everything out and purging and reorganizing. But I did remember, it has nothing to really do with creating, but I have a heart eyes emoji beach ball. I used it for a photo once, and now I just bop it around the room when I'm thinking. Mostly I just move it around from couch to bench to closet.
I also have a few older collections of things from when I was a kid, a thimble collection, my Dad's old drafting rulers/templates for blue prints.

LOL ^^^ so, inquiring minds want to know: what are you using them for in your craft room?? Do I need to go to the hardware store on the way home from work today? LOL!! ETA: and on the topic of the OP, I don't think I have anything overly strange in my craft room, but I guess 'strange' is subjective. I do have a metal cupcake tin that I sometimes use for mixing acrylic paint... I have a few kitchen-type things for making patterns in paint, too, like a fork and a rolling pizza cutter.

^^^ that is going to be me this weekend, too- hopefully, anyway! I finished a few projects last week, and the place is a shambles. plus, it never actually got 'set up' when we moved. (We've been in this house, now, since Labor Day weekend- it's about time, I think!)
