Random tweet.....
"Now @presssec denies AP report on National Guard/deportations, via pooler @zekejmiller"
This morning the AP reported the White House was considering mobilizing up to 100,000 National Guardsmen to help round up undocumented folks. The news spread as other news agencies picked up the story.
Now Melissa McCarthy aka Sean Spicer has said the story is not true.
But here's the thing. How can we believe anything the White House says? We have caught trump, Kellyanne alternative facts Conway, & Spicer in lie after blatant lie.
I get people feel occupants of the White House lie but not like this. This is just one more problem for the man who claims he won the election with the largest electoral college win since Reagan.

I think it's an intentional choice. A trial balloon of sorts. It was a draft memo. AP got it, asked for comment multiple times, but the White House never responded. Then the AP released it and the White House denies it - and the WH gets to further feed their anti-media fake news agenda AND see how the public reacts to the proposal. It's a win-win for them. Don't mind me, I'll be over here in my office in my tin hat

It's really scary when the President calls CNN fake news. This is what dictators do that hide the truth from their country.

I believe this is likely true, but I honestly do think the Administration wants to see the reaction to something radical like this so they can get a grasp on how far they can go.

I don't believe anything they say and do not trust their intentions in anything. When people show you who they are, believe them. If they will lie about small things, they will lie about anything.

Or they figured it really didn't matter. Because he won in a landslide, you know. 306 electoral college votes. A tremendous victory. Save

Maybe the AP shouldn't be reporting things that aren't confirmed.

At this point I will not believe most of what comes out of this administration. It would be unwise to believe anything they say at face value, as they lie so often about almost every single thing.

Maybe the AP shouldn't be reporting things that aren't confirmed. Bingo! Having said that--like said upthread, if someone will lie about the little things, good chance they'll lie about the big things. Little boy that cried wolf comes to mind also. So when an unconfirmed report spreads like wildfire, and the WH (which has made up shit) denies it--we have a hot frickin' mess.

How can we believe anything the white house says ? We can't. At this point if anyone in the administration, especially Trump himself, said the sky is blue I'd have to go look before I believed.

With Trump as President, i swear, I'm starting to feel like a latchkey kid with an irresponsible parent. I'm left to fend for myself and I can trust anyone who comes to the door.

Where did you see confirmation from DHS? The AP article says neither WH or DHS would comment: www.apnews.com/5508111d59554a33be8001bdac4ef830

Which means it exists. Plus, the full document has been shared by a journalist from Time's DC bureau (which I linked above).

The conspiracy theorist in me says this draft was circulated among select staff to narrow down the list of suspected leakers.
This "plan" is so outrageous that they KNEW the source would leak it. Now they would have a shorter list of suspects to investigate.
I hope the WH leaker is being extra careful!

Curious how the White House planned to give themselves the authority to call up the National Guard over the governors? Wasn't this a plot line in an episode of Designated Survivor?

^^^ yes, it was- there was something they cited to say it was constitutional to deploy the national guard, but I don't remember what it was... the governor didn't let them do it, though, either. But that was just fiction; this is 'real' (unfortunately).
ETA
Here's a line from the draft action, referring to the National Guard: "Based on their training and experience, these men and women are particularly well-suited to assist in the enforcement of federal immigration law..."
-- ?? What in their training makes the National Guard 'particularly suited' to assist with immigration? ??

That said, you can't believe anything they say. If they told me 1+1=2 I'd grab my calculator.

Curious as to who everyone thinks the leaker could be? Got to be someone in the inner sanctum. I'm hoping it is Mike Pence lol. That would be awesome! If I were on the list of people who received a copy of this "draft," I would be comparing it to the leaked one wird for word. Why? Because if I wanted to catch a leaker, I would give each of my suspects a copy with one word changed where no one would notice. Then if it were leaked you could verify which person leaked it by which version surfaces in the media. If I found ANY differences between my copy and the leaked copy, I would be watching my back and waiting for the next booby trap to make the rounds.
