My ds is getting married next June and they have decided on Maui for their honeymoon. His dad has like 900,000 frequent flier miles (not kidding the man is a pro at earning miles and doesn't even travel for a living) LOL and so he has booked their flights already. We took them out for the evening before they headed back for their senior year and they said they just need to find their rental and they would likely do a condo or from an person not a hotel or large corporation. VRBO and that type of thing. I looked on their and there are a zillion and I have never been so I have no idea. I wouldn't book something without their knowing and liking it but wanted to look into and give that to them as a wedding gift. They want something with the option of doing some of their own cooking. They hate the thought of eating out 2-3 times a day and want to be able to at least have a mini kitchen and good views. Does anyone have a link or name they can share that would be a great find? One bedroom, June 2015 and doesn't feel like you are staying at grandma's house. LOL I say that because I don't consider myself a picky traveler but when I have had not so great travel experience it is often because the room or rooms makes me feel like I am staying at my grandma's house. I loved being at my grandma's house but not on my honeymoon! KWIM? TIA

First, I'd check out Maui Revealed Resort/Rental Reviews as he gives some pretty good advice. When we were looking for a place we really like the Houna Kai as it's newer and the condos are very nice. We ultimately decided to stay at at B&B called Windward Garden which is along the Hana Highway. They were just finishing their studio which is a separate building from the main house. I believe it has a kitchen. The B&B is completely off the grid and you feel like you are in the jungle. They make fresh breakfast every morning with fruit/produce they pick around their place. It was fantastic. I would may stay a few of the days here as it is a bit away from the "main" attractions of Maui, but it's beautiful and very quite/serene, perfect for a honeymoon!

I just want to chime in and say that cooking on Maui can be very expensive. Have you seen the grocery prices? But a great place for a honeymoon!

This isn't a B&B, but it is the best place I have ever stayed. It is perfect for a honeymoon. Check it out... www.mamasfishhouse.com/home.htmlits called Mama's Fish House and Inn. It is amazing! It is at the base of Haleakala at the beginning of the Hana highway so it is a beautiful location.
