... and Good Gravy! how did I ever accumulate so much RIBBON ? I had no idea it was this bad. When they're all tucked away in lots of little boxes, you don't think it's so much, so you buy more...But when you dump it all into a laundry hamper to consolidate them? Aye aye aye... it's bad.Anyone else getting a jump on their Spring Cleaning? Want to tear your scrap space apart and try to put it all back together again with new labels? Or do you have an otherwise organised space that's just a mess because you don't put it all away every time you finish a page? Look around and assess the damage, LOL. Maybe 15 minutes would do the trick? Get working on it and I'll give you a well deserved pat on the back! And if I actually get through some of my mess, I'll ask you to pat my back I'm really hoping I can get a whole lot of it done this weekend! Keep me company?

Good job for starting! I'm at a loss on how to organize my embellies but I've done pretty good organizing other things. I just pulled a stack of LOs that need to go into albums or need redone, so I am working on that tonight. I love creating when everything is organized, it makes it so much easier.

You know those cardboard photo boxes they sell for maybe 2 bucks? About the size of a shoebox and decorated with pretty paper? I just counted 23 of them, and I have no idea what's inside of them. I filled most of them before we moved in 2012, two houses ago, and even the ones with labels are a mystery.
I'm going in.

Our goal this weekend was the garage (we work on it and reorg and get rid of things usually about 2x a year...haven't done a massive clean in over a year, but did clean it up a bit in December to reach decorations, lolol) but now it's supposed to rain AND I'm on day 7 (just barely on the side of starting to feel better) of a nasty head and chest cold, so we shall see. The whole point was so we could move more furniture down there in order to get a new platform bed frame for our room (we still use the furniture that my Dad bought me when I was 12...I'm 30...it's a queen headboard and we now have a king bed, it's long overdue) so we're highly motivated, but that doesn't mean much when it's wet/cold and I can't walk more than a few steps without wheezing.
Good luck to you!!

I got my Christmas supplies all crammed back into their corner this morning.
I now have to sort and put away the other supplies I have out all over the counter space, so I have room to scrap and can see the stuff on the open shelves.
I have a place for everything, just haven't put anything in its place for a couple of months. Looking forward to getting access to my wood veneer and ribbon and twine. There's some washi back there too...

my scrap space is pretty small and I keep it organised since it's in the family room and thus everyone who walks into the house can see it BUT I reached for one of BH sketch magazines today and it wasn't where it was supposed to be SO...finding it is on my to-do list.

Found a box full of framed photos, so I've been busy taking the photos out so I can put the frames in the donation box. I found one photo, 1 inch by 1 1/2 inches, of my best friend's DD as a baby wearing a dress that's bigger than she is! Too funny, so I had to text it to her. Her "baby" is in her second year of college now. We had a nice long conversation, which was long overdue, but now it's time to get back to the boxes. dasmith2 , Have fun with your albums. My favorite part of scrapping is adding the layouts to the albums. it's so satisfying! scrapaddict702 , good luck to you! Keep the NyQuil handy. grammadee , I have no doubt you'll get things put away in no time. You seem to me to be the kind of person that gets things done when you set your mind to it! linda , you should try calling her name, and see if she calls back. Becky!!! Where are yooou?

Ugh! I found a set of alphabet stamps that apparently I liked so much I bought it twice! I have a few like that...bought them and then got them in a grab bag shortly after (but if I hadn't purchased them, I never would have gotten them...that's what I choose to believe anyway). Unless it's a tiny alpha where the company decided to put lots of vowels (and sometimes they do that) it's nice to have a second set to spell longer things IF it's the type that you can line up on a block. Keeps it straighter than having to go back to stamp another E.

I like things to be organized. I have a six tiered clip it up for my hanging embellishments, and I have various other containers for the rest. I'd like to think I know where my stuff is. I have gone through it all within the last six months, so I at least have seen it. I love organizing as much as scrapping. Possibly more.

I finished my organization in January. I refuse to Spring clean. That is my gardening time. I do my Spring cleaning in January. My room was so beautiful in January. Then I got a respiratory infection, the stomach flu and tore a muscle in my neck and shoulder in February. Now, my room does not look beautiful. It looks like a disaster. I have to go in there and clean it this week since I feel better.

Anyone else getting a jump on their Spring Cleaning? The other day I pulled everything that doesn't belong in my scrap space out of it. Random things just stuck there, for a moment's convenience.

Ugh! I found a set of alphabet stamps that apparently I liked so much I bought it twice! I've done this on purpose before so I have enough letters to spell words. So you didn't buy to by accident it was smart! I have a long weekend I'm going to work on my scraproom.

I went through my stack of LO's and got them into an album. Quite a few things needed glued down, but I'd say there were a good 30 pages or so into albums. I have a handful that need redone. I need one more 8 1/2x11 album for those, unless I decide to just make them a bigger size. I have quite a few 12x12 albums left. I am going to learn to extend the posts today so I can put more pages in them. I've never done it. After that, I need to come up with a system for my embellies

I have some clear boxes, about half the size of a shoe box where I store random, leftover embellishments by color. It helps me use stuff I'd never find if it was in an Iris box by theme. Whenever I've used most of something - like a sticker sheet or ephemera, I pull it out and put it in the box by color. Then when I need something yellow, I just grab the box. ANYWAY - I just went through each box and threw away anything I no longer found appealing. Now when i grab my box, there is much less to dig through and I am happier with the system.

I agree msliz...it would be like Christmas! I also have clear boxes that all the bits and pieces go into. They are sorted by color. I scrapbook with DIY kits. If a kit doesn't have enough embellishments I can grab the right box or boxes and easily embellish a page. It also works when making a kit. Grab the box or boxes that coordinate and put together a little bag of goodies to match the kit. Kinda like OA's miscellany packs. I'm in the middle of a redo on my scrapbook room. I bit off more than I can chew though. I added more bookshelves to my room and wanted to have "everything in its place" but feel like I'm just loading the shelves willy nilly at this point. I guess once all my kits are loaded on the shelves I can go back and sort through. I'd like Christmas to be all together. Valentine's, etc. right now that doesn't seem to be the case.

Me wanting to clean my scrap space always benefits the rest of the house more so. I've done 3 loads of laundry, clean off all counters in kitchen, did first round of dishes, about to start crock pot chili, and bathroom. If DH still wasn't sleeping laundry would be away and bed would be stripped. Vacuuming and washing of floors needs to commence soon as well. Hopefully my motivation stays high. Good luck to the rest of you.

First of all, scrappington, you're freakin amazing! mikklynn, I have a lot of areas that I need to go back and organize. I'm still at the stage of putting broader category like-with-like together, all my paints, all my markers, all my photos even!, so nothing will be perfect for awhile. And the premade scrap crap like stickers and dots and whatnot? That's a huge project that I would just prefer to ignore for the moment. It's all still better than it was before I started! Also, thanks for getting me to think about sorting by color. Yesterday I found *another* good size stash of scraps, And I think sorting by color might be helpful. Years ago, the last time I sorted scraps, I just divided them into "warm" and "cool" piles, and that worked fine. But if I go ahead and throw my 6x6 paper packs in there too, I'll definitely have too much for that now, so sorting by color just might be the best way to go. dasmith2 , when you figure out what you plan to do with your embellies, let me know! I've seen a lot of great ideas, but what works all depends on the space we have and how we work. There isn't one perfect way that's screaming out to me yet, so I'm still looking for all the ideas I can find. But, like I said above, I'm actually just going to ignore that little problem for now and work on the bigger picture issues. I'm starting again for round 2 on those mystery shoeboxes!

Sounds like Christmas: opening surprise packages!
I sorted and stowed most of the rest of my scrap crap this morning. Even sorted through the scraps (well, most of them). Last round--a few months ago--I set up large envelopes in a shoebox, each envelope with a different colour range, so this time I just had to sort by colour and then tuck into those envelopes.
I did find some more scraps mixed in with my stack of cs and pp collections. Some fit in the bag with the pp, but some did not, so now I have a much reduced pile of scraps.
Not sure what I will do with an overflowing shoebox of photos I chose NOT to scrap as I scrapped their mates. I set that box down on the floor in the corner, and think I need to go through it again before either sorting for storage or giving them to people who might like them, or *gasp* throwing them away. I now have a new empty box ready to accept unused photos from events I scrapbook as I go along.
I have declared my scrap room GOOD ENOUGH, so tomorrow morning I hope to start scrapping again. I have a set of sorted photos for scrapping, and I need to make a bd card. Now that I can find my supplies and see my scrap counters, this should be FUN!!!

I threw out so many photos last night of the nieces and nephews as they were growing up. I know their mothers ordered about 50 of each pose every year, so I'm not worried that I'm getting rid of anything one of a kind, but I know that if I try to give them back to their mothers they'd get mad at me and insinuate that I don't love their children. One kid just graduated from medical school and she's engaged to be married - I don't need her 2nd grade photo anymore!

I have an album for my side of the family and one for dh's, I scrap the photos from each niece/nephew that we receive and they go into the respective album. DH's family isn't as good about giving photos, but probably because are kids are the same age ranges and since we homeschool, I often don't have the reciprocating photo. My side, the kids are having kids. I was the youngest (accident) and started my family late to boot.

I still use lace on projects and still buy that at yard sales and junk shops but not ribbon; dh still buys me ribbon. It's so sweet that I just can't say anything. His last ribbon purchase was gift wrap ribbon. No, I couldn't tell him I don't use that kind on my pages. At least it will adorn some presents so not a waste.

I won't be cleaning up my space till at least May, as I'm working on my niece's graduation album. No need to clean up, cause I'm using all of the same stuff throughout the project. THEN, I'll clean up just in time to start on a big project for a friend/client.

Well, I finished with the mystery shoeboxes. All of them are labeled with their contents except for 4 of them that contain stickers, alphas, dots, you name it. I don't know how I'm going to organize all that yet, but I'm going to put it on hold. DD wants to have a friend sleep over, and my attic craft space is the playroom/loft just outside her bedroom. They're going to be spending time in here, so I don't want to start another organizing project or unpack another mystery box. And I know I'm still missing some of my stuff - like all of my clear stamps. I really want to keep going, but it's time to clear out the trash and recycle, re-home the stuff I found that shouldn't be here, and get out the vacuum! But don't let me stop you from working on your spaces! Keep it up, Peas! It really does feel great to be on the other side of that mess. ETA: Here's a project I started last weekend. The labels wouldn't come off these jars that I'd been accumulating (for about 3 years) so I painted them and relabeled them. I have 31 of these, so I want to grab at least 1 more from Target next time I'm there.
