I'm also cleaning and purging today! I sell at a scrapbooking garage sale in April so I'm trying to get things together before the last minute. Of course I'm taking a break no and just starting my first run through of things I want to get rid of. And yes, even though I sold at this sale last year, I just found two photo boxes of ribbon

Well, I finished with the mystery shoeboxes. All of them are labeled with their contents except for 4 of them that contain stickers, alphas, dots, you name it. I don't know how I'm going to organize all that yet, but I'm going to put it on hold. DD wants to have a friend sleep over, and my attic craft space is the playroom/loft just outside her bedroom. They're going to be spending time in here, so I don't want to start another organizing project or unpack another mystery box. And I know I'm still missing some of my stuff - like all of my clear stamps. I really want to keep going, but it's time to clear out the trash and recycle, re-home the stuff I found that shouldn't be here, and get out the vacuum! But don't let me stop you from working on your spaces! Keep it up, Peas! It really does feel great to be on the other side of that mess. ETA: Here's a project I started last weekend. The labels wouldn't come off these jars that I'd been accumulating (for about 3 years) so I painted them and relabeled them. I have 31 of these, so I want to grab at least 1 more from Target next time I'm there. Those jars are awesome! I've always wanted to store some of my stuff in glass jars, but I currently don't have any shelves in my scrap area.

My scrap space is in the corner of my bedroom. It in organized and compact. I don't put everything away when I'm finished using it however. Instead I put embellishments in a small Iris case and cardstock in a thin 12 x 12 case. When these get full is when I put things away. It actually saves me time because instead of pulling out say the blue card stock (my cardstock and paper is filed in 22 Cropper Hopper paper holders) to file one sheet I now file 4-10 sheets. Same with embellishments. For example, when I put buttons away I put 3-4 packages away instead of just one. By using the Iris cases to "hold" items until time to put them away they stay out of the way and my work space stays neater.

The nuts were pretty good too. Not super crunchy, but DD toasts them anyway for her granola, so they crisp up in the oven anyway.

You know, I found a hidden gem in my craftroom today ... Remember those rubber band bracelets that were all the rage with the kids a few years ago? They sold looms and bags upon bags of those stupid rubber bands that ended up in every room in the house and clogged up the vacuum cleaner? I thought we were rid of them, but I found a bag and thought, these are just the right size to wrap around my ribbons after I take them off the spools! Have fun with your surprise 2 boxes, and good luck with your sale!

i just organized today! I thought i didn't have a lot of PP, but turns out I have more than i thought--lots of old stuff: october afternoon, bo bunny, and more. I have no idea what the best way to organize it is, as I only have a tiny space. I also have about 1 foot of cardstock! Only a few alphas, and basically zero embellies. I am not big on embellies and i dont have the space for that many.

Then organise that way (by manufacturer/collection or design or colour). Mine are by colour because that's how I scrap

I am thinking about getting a file folder with hanging files for it--something inexpensive. I know cropper hopper used to sell 12x12 file folders--do you think they still do? For the moment, I will divide into my 2 gallon plastic bags according to color, as best as i can. Thanks

Then i can just pull out the container and resume where i left off.

Remember these things--they were SO GREAT for those of us who needed to 'clean up' before dinner but didnt have any method of storing unfinished pages. Too bad they are discontinued. www.scrapbook.com/store/cw-84253.html

I think you should make him sleep in the garage for that comment, LOL. Maybe your garage is nicer than mine!

No actually, we redid one part of the garage, walled it off and put in nice lighting nad nice flooring--meant to be our homeschool area but we never really used it. We even put in windows and an AC, the problem is that in Florida it's just not strong enough during certain times of the year. It's really nicer than it sounds but it's still....the garage -- I think I just like to be in main part of the house with the family. Even when I had a separate 'scrap room' i didn't like to use it!

I store my projects in progress in Cropper Hopper paper files. It looks like Amazon has some available.

I should probably save a couple and scrapbook them - i think it would be easy to staple them on and tell a story anout that fad.

So finally around 5 30 last night I got up and started on my craft rooms. I even purged. Not done yet and still piles everywhere. But I made shelf space

I purged. I don't purge scrapbook stuff. Rest of the house I'm a pro at. But scrapbook stuff nope. But as I was going thru baskets and drawers I actually grabbed a box and said nope I will never use this.
So out went most alpha sheets. I kept a couple. A lot of my smash book embellishment stuff.
Chipboard elements.
I have a few scrappy friends so I told one she has first right of refusal and when we go to our retreat in May I will take rest of stuff and they can pick thru it. I know there is a couple new scrappers there and whatever they don't take will go to value village.
I threw out a basket full of plastic packaging. Was saving it for shaker cards. Well I have report covers for that so freed up another basket.
I had a couple binders full of page maps I had printed off and other stuff. Recycled those.
Felt great.

We moved into a new house 3 years ago. I had my youngest 8 days after we moved in so the craft room that I finally got was never really unpacked. Since them the room has just accumulated boxes of stuff. Now I'm not even sure how I want to lay it out and what furniture to put in there. I'm also not sure how to sort/purge. I don't really have a place to take everything out of the room and bring it back in organized. Anyone have any suggestions?

Can you make a quick sketch of your space, or snap a couple of photos, and tell us what your big furniture pieces are? Also, how else will the room be used? Do you sew? Does it double as a guest room or a family room? (Mine does.) Do you craft with other people or have small children lurking about? Just jot it all down in a post (you could even start a new thread) and the Peas will give you lots of ideas!

Nah, it's the cheapo craft paint that sells everywhere for under a dollar, but I had some already. I did buy the white paint marker though.

I organized at the end of last year when I got some new furniture. Now I sometimes have a hard time finding stuff bc I moved it-lol! I need to get labels on everything and there are a few things I want to move to be more accessible. Also I am waiting on my husband to put up some shelves I bought. He said he may try to do it today since he is off - fingers crossed!
There are a few more pieces of furniture I want to buy but I want to wait until the shelves are up before I buy it - make sure I need it.
I also purged at the end of the year and it feels good to have less stuff- don't worry, I still have plenty!! I also have an Iris container of "new" stuff- when it is full, I don't buy more until I have used (or partially used) what is in it. I honestly don't plan on buying more for awhile - beside basics like adhesive and cardstock. We will see how it goes.

For sorting, I would decide how you want to store it - like by collection, manufacturer, color, event, etc and then use piles or boxes to sort it. If by collection, big ziploc bags work good. I would just go one box at a time and make piles. Then once you have the piles, you can see how much you have and what makes sense to buy to store them in. Good luck! I know it's a big project but just go one box at a time...

I somehow have tons of ribbon popping up as well, and I'm worried that since everything isn't together I won't sort out designs right for it.... if that makes sense.
