We're not used to this. It's crazy here.
Two trees just went down in the neighborhood and the electricity has flashed.
We're not built for this kind of event.
Im sure this is nothing to the rest of you.

Yes, this storm is different than the rains we've had. It's starting to get intense here in the foothills east of LA. I hope we don't lose electricity. Other than that, I'm warm, cozy and dry, ready to hole up for the holiday weekend.

The electricity just flickered. Driving home from work was an adventure to say the least.

In San Diego, the wind has been crazy since early this morning. Now it's being combined with some pretty decent rain. And of course, now is when the dog has to be taken out...

We just got the emergency flood alert until 9. Also hearing lots of sirens. Luckily, we knew this was coming and everyone I know has plans to stay in tonight. I can't believe the amount of rain already!!

I had to bribe my dogs with cookies just so they would go outside for a pee break. Too much rain and wind. Even the one who loves standing in the rain wouldn't go outside until the bribe.

ha, we were on a video call today and I didn't hang up because we had another coming in about 10 minutes. So our co-worker, in Boston, is CRACKING UP because I was asking the team if we should cancel the next meeting because it is raining and we should all probably head home. So he starts slacking "are you guys going to be okay?" (with sarcasm) and my other SoCal co-worker answers completely serious about how we may not be It was a funny exchange, then we all left (Boston Guy) [2:18 PM] Are you guys even ready for this? SoCal #1 [3:25 PM] Stormzilla! SoCal #2 [4:03 PM] Not ready [4:03] I took my ping pong table inside and the garden chairs inside [4:04] Cleaned the gutters

]Oh no! I'm sorry for making light of it, that is terrible! Actually, I don't blame the rest of the country for making fun of us. During the drought, every single bitty storm became Stormwatch 20XX. The coverage is over the top, when it really matters people fail to take heed.

We were supposed to drive up north to sf for a wedding but had to cancel because my son had the stomach flu, I guess there's a silver lining that we didn't get caught driving in the rain!

In my area of Southern Ca we have had storms like this BUT it has been several years. I am just glad it is happening on a 3 day weekend when kids won't be in school and we have no where we have to be!

Other parts of the country can handle rain. I think some don't realize that California just isn't equipped to deal with that kind of weather. I'm waiting for my sister to text me when she gets home. She is driving from Burbank to San Gabriel Valley. š It's scary stuff.

It started raining at 10 a.m. and hasn't stopped all day. It's pushing 7 p.m. right now and the wind just kicked up. I don't like this very much. I haven't seen anything major happening on our community FB page about power outages or anything down. Someone did hit a light pole this morning. Thankfully, they were able to get the person out of the car, and there weren't major injuries.

I heard that there are many freeway closures up in the LA area due to flooding. I hope your sister gets home safely!

That and areas that have suffered from wildfires turn into mudslides. Roads have been collapsing and have had sink holes. A pretty major highway just reopened after being closed for repairs for three weeks.
im really hoping there isn't much damage this time around but have heard about several downed trees before the rain even started. I'm happy that everyone I know is staying in tonight and won't be out in it. The roads around here have a tendency to flood in heavy rain and the earth is just so saturated at this point that it can't soak up much more water. We are suppose to get about 2 more inches in the next 24 hours or so.
While I know we need the water I am over it at this point because of the mess and damage that have occurred. Hoping everyone stays safe the next few days with this storm.

I'm on vacation in the Palm Springs area and it's crazy windy. Rain just started. My sister and BIL just arrived at the airport but said it was a very smooth landing, thank goodness, because she's not a happy flyer. š¬
