I woke up this morning hearing about the two trains that hit head on in Arkansas in the early morning hours. Two people are dead and a couple of others injured. (Not passenger trains). Many people were being evacuated from homes due to hazardous materials that the trains were carrying. I was having a hard time finding any other information. My DS is a train conductor and his primary route goes through Arkansas to Oklahoma. It took me a few hours but I was finally able to reach him and he is fine. I am one relieved mom this morning. The trains that collided are not the same railroad that DS works for. My heart goes out to the family and friends of those killed and injured. I know that even though I have relief this morning, there are others that are not getting the same news I did. Arkansas Train Wreck

So glad to hear your son wasn't involved, it sounds like it was bad. I'm in AR too, but on the NW side of the state.

Glad to hear that your son is ok. My dad worked for the railroad yrs ago. He worked on the derailment team. It was always so stressful.
I live in Arkansas and haven't heard anything about this. Wonder where it was? Off to check.

I'm glad your son is ok. I haven't been on the computer much this today and hadn't even heard about it. I'm sorry for the ones who did lose family members.

Thanks Everyone! My heart hurts for those that were affected. The trains that crashed were Union Pacific.
One thing that I am going to HAVE to do is tell my DS that when something like this happens, PLEASE call or text and let me know he is ok. LOL He doesn't have to do it for all train crashes, derailments, etc. but at least the ones going through the 3 states that his route travels. He may be an adult but I am a mom and no matter how old your kids are, we still worry about them.

That would have made me worry as well. I am glad to hear that all is well with him.

So glad your son is safe. Mine would probably not think to call me, and I would be frantic in that situation.
