I was thinking that I would love to do a PL album (probably 9x12) using the same color theme through the entire album. I LOVE kelly green and navy and was thinking of doing an album with those two colors and accenting with black, white and maybe gray or yellow. I have saved Simple Stories' A Charmed Life collection as well as a few of Shimelle's True Stories papers and a few others with this thought. As far as the photos go, I would print them all in black and white unless the colors in the photo flowed with the color theme. So, IDK something like this. I've done mini albums with a color theme but has anyone ever done this with an entire full-sized album?

I LOVE that color combo! A 9x12 fits a *lot* of pages, you would have to have a lot of supplies to fill it up- If you've got 'em, go for it! Otherwise, a 4x6 or 6x8 mini album would be super cute, too! Can't wait to see what you make!

I will regularly scrap events or part of a trip like this...maybe not enough for a full size album, but about 10-12 layouts. I think it looks great, but I do tend to get sick of the colours as I get further along into the project. Way back when, I did this for a couple of weekend trips using one of the Chatterbox "rooms"...I was really pleased with the final result.
I LOVE the colour scheme you've picked out and I happen to have both of these collections saved up. I like your idea of combining them...thanks for the inspiration and I hope you share what you make.

This is a lovely combination, but I wouldn't do a full 9x12 album with it. I did a 12x12 PL album for my niece's 1st year and had the idea of using the same basic colour scheme plus accents. I got sick of it after about 10 pages!

I've been keeping a drawer with everything I love that's kelly green and navy and anything I think would go with this. Maybe I'll have to think about a 6x8 album. I'll have to go through my albums and see what sizes I have. I don't want to start it and then become overwhelmed with it. I want to enjoy the process and love it when I'm done!

Ohhh, that is super cute! I love the stripes and that it's very neutral as far as gender. I'll probably have various pics in the album but since we have a son that would be great! TFS!

Those colors are gorgeous together! I love working in 6x8 albums with many sheet protector formats. I love to cut some down. You can take the one with four 3x4's and cut it down to two 3x4's so you have an insert. The sheet protectors that have all the 2x2's are fun to cut down also.
Whatever size you go with I'm sure it will be a beautiful album that you love looking at over and over again!

Thank you iheartpaper! I am a sucker for green and navy and your idea for cutting down the page protectors is great! Last weekend I did the same for one of my 12x12's and sewed the pockets to custom fit my photos. They were an odd size.

We've had some fun ST. Patrick's Day trips. Your scheme makes me want to put them in heir own little holiday album!
That's not a slam on using them for a Project Life, all year album! It would look good too.

I think your color combo is lovely. The only color-themed album I've ever done was one of our trips to Disneyland. I challenged myself to stay with bright red, white, black with some bright yellow accents. I loved doing it.... for about the first 10 pages! After that, I got so bored with the color combination that I thought I would never want to do anything like it again. I strictly stayed with the same bright red, bright yellow and the same color hue (or is it tone?) of white and black so there was really no variation. If I were to do it again, I'd definitely expand my color selections like you have!

I love those colors together! I think it would be fine as long as you don't limit yourself to the Charmed Life collection. One of the things I like about SS is that their colors are fairly consistent and coordinate nicely with other collections. I have also found that some of Echo Park's papers matches up pretty well too.
I did a color based album for my sister's wedding pictures. She had all fall colors so I used lots of papers with reds, golds, oranges, brown, cream and black. I think I used a 7 gypsies collection and another I can't remember. I don't recall how many pages I made but it looked really pretty when it was done.

Oh, I do this! I have this problem with colours and colour combinations. I just cannot stand it if the flow is interrupted. I have excellent (perfect scores for the in-depth Munsell hue test) colour vision (one of my few talents in life ) and that may, in part, contribute to this type of vision. I like a flow of colours in a limited complementary range (usually three colours and two neutrals). My secret is a neutral cardstock to help guide the colours through. I use one same cardstock in a "colour-themed" album (same shade, same texture). And I only do colour themes for the 6x8 or 4x4 formats. It's really fun and satisfying to flip through when you're done! Do not purchase the kelly green faux leather album from Becky Higgins! I have this one. It was lovely for a few years. And just a few weeks ago, I realised the faux leather started cracking and crumbling in the inside folds. Major ugh!

The sheet protectors that have all the 2x2's are fun to cut down also. Yes, cutting page protectors makes albums so much more interactive! I love an insert with just one row of 2x2 squares tucked inside a spread. I love adding "home made" faux-tobooth pictures in there. A row of black and white silly faces photos with a friend or family member.

I love kelly green and navy, too. It's a versatile combo. I have done something similar with an 8x8 album and it's one of my favorites. One of the things that made the whole process work was the fact that with the smaller size I didn't need as much paper and there wasn't much room for embellishments. But the color scheme I chose was still apparent.

Love the colors. I also love the idea. It's the same as when we do gift albums with a theme in mind. I think it'll look fabulous.

First of all, I LOVE the products have you have collected. They will look beautiful together!
Next, my wedding album (a work in progress) is all done on cream cardstock, with a red, pink and black palette. It has pops of other colours in it to help break it up (mostly mint/aqua and yellow). As you said black and white photos helps in this regard! It is definitely doable, and I think your colour scheme would work with lots of pages. I think it helps if the album has a cohesive theme and I have also found using a solid cardstock as a backing (even if for most of my pages it is a 1/4 inch border) helps tie everything together. Since this is PL that probably isn't the sort of thing you are looking for to tie your album together, but a little touch that can do a lot. I work on my album about 5-6 pages at a time because I do get bored of those colours and need a break. If you want to see some pages let me know and I can post them. (I don't want to take over your thread unless asked lol!)

Consider getting yourself some inks and paints in kelly and navy if you don't already have some. You'll be able to expand your embellishment collection threefold by adding your new colors to your older doodads. Sounds like a fun project !

Yes impearia please post them! I'd love it! I hope this is helpful...I forgot to add that depending on who is in the pictures I add more of certain colours. When my daughter, who was 5 at the time is in the pictures there is always pink (she wore pink, my maid of honour wore aqua) whether the photograph is in colour or not. Red/cream is for me because my dress was cream with red accents and my shoes were red and pink. etc etc. This probably doesn't mean much to anyone else but the colour coding reminds me of what they were wearing even if the photograph isn't in colour. Here are a few of my favourite pages...I am pretty lax about my definitions of colours, as long as they work with the feeling of the album i am okay with it. Save

Pretty colors! I love that SS collection. I did DS's high school album in all blues, creams and browns. All of the pages were a natural color background for continuity. I used several lines, and other colors -- green, gold,-- on some pages. I liked the way it turned out, but I was sick of using such a limited pallett by the time I finished. Same with DD's. Hers was mostly light purples and pinks, but with a lot of other colors thrown in, more of a bohemian vibe. Again, I was so over it when I finished, but I like the way it came out.

I did this for an anniversary trip to Disney. Everything I used was pink, gray, black, and white. I added a few touches of red throughout.
I love that album.

I love the idea for your album of black and white photos. I would not scrap that way myself, because I would still try to tell the story of the black and white photos with my paper and embellie choices. If you think you would enjoy working on it and looking at afterward see how it goes for you and let us know.

Not too enable you too much nicolep, but Zulily has scrapbook paper today. I didn't allow myself to look at it closely enough to know what brands it is, and you have to buy it in packs of 25, but there were some cute green papers!
