Anyone have one. It is getting really good reviews but I'd love to hear from the peas. I'm looking to replace a 2004 Honda Pilot that we love and having a hard time decided between the Pacifica and the Odyssey.

I see you are looking to go from an SUV to a van. Are you sure? I went from a van to an SUV and I won't ever go back! Melissa

I traded my Odyssey in on the Pacifica. I hated the Odyssey. Hated how basic it was when I had a top of the line model. I have a lot of bells and whistles with the Pacifica. Like a heated steering wheel. I can open my doors with my leg. I have remote start! I have passive entry (where the door opens when the keys are near), I don't need my keys in the ignition to start. I had all of these on my car previous to the Odyssey so I felt like I stepped back in time when I bought the Odyssey. I LOVE the folding seats in my Pacifica - didn't have that in the Odyssey! Overall, we have more control over our space. I have a vacuum! Now, I bought a pretty loaded model but my Odyssey was also "loaded" and I had none of this stuff (1st world problem??) We got a great deal and I lowered my month payment about $80 going w/ the Pacifica. I like new cars. I buy new for the warranty and updated safety. I'm okay with that and my budget has that built in. Also, my Odyssey was a gutless POS. I have some power back with the Pacifica (I think it is now highest in class). The back up camera SMOKES the Odyssey. What I do not like - I had a problem with a sensor on the engine. Under 2K miles... I was not a happy camper. But it was an easy fix - the car sends a report on how it is functioning monthly (weird!) so they were pretty quick to identify it. But, my odyssey was in the shop at 4K miles for a similar issue so I take that with a grain of salt. To be fair, we bought the Odyssey right after the large tsunami that hit Japan. We were warned not to buy it because they didn't have money to invest in the market upgrades. Maybe they have caught back up - but for $ to $, the Pacifica has so much more to offer. Infomercial over. Give them my name when you buy it so I can get my cut.

I really want to hold out for a deal but i didn't known what is realistic, still doing our homework. Are the seats comfortable? They seem really thin. We drive 9-10hrs 2 or 3x a year and need something comfortable. We are looking forward to all the conveniences minivans offer (sliding doors!). My inlaws have a new Pilot and we are not fans which was disappointing.

There is no way I'd switch from Honda to Chrysler. I had an Odyssey and loved it. I traded it in on a SUV a couple of years ago - my kids were finally old enough to make the switch - and I still miss it sometimes.

So funny how our experiences have different mileage. I had a Honda Accord prior to kids that left me stranded at least once a month. I hated that &^%%( car so much I swore to God I'd never drive another Honda. But, along came baby #3 and I needed a minivan. I wanted an SUV. I'm too tall to have three kids in car seats, a fully extended leg, room for the double stroller... and not have 11 MPG. Our Odyssey had a very similar issue when we first got it so I'm not freaking out. I would agree that I am not as convinced that it is as well made or reliable - but I also don't believe that many cars really are. I also rarely hold onto a vehicle passed 3 years. I like a warranty and updated safety features. Since our budget can handle it, I'm cool with it. I grew up driving beaters that you never knew where it was going to leave you. And while I have great road side assistance the thought of being broken down freaks me out. I know not everybody thinks like that and everybody assumes it is "all about the Jones" and you simply couldn't be farther from the truth.
As for what we paid... It was around $45K. I take on the challenge of car negotiations like I should do this for a living. So if you aren't a good negotiator, you might pay higher.
The seats are comfortable and move around much more comfortably than the Odyssey. One thing about the Honda is the seats are really high and can't come down as much as I needed so I always felt like my head was in the roof. We opted (and had to search very hard to find) the 8 seater Pacifica.
When I was shopping for the Pacifica I was really gunning to get back into an SUV. I'm no longer needing the double stroller, etc. The ease of the sliding seats where you can get in the back without having to climb over OR take out the car seat is a huge plus for me. I was ready to settle for a new Honda Pilot as it was the closest to what I wanted but the seats. Always with the seats. I'd love to design my perfect SUV!

I would never go from anything to a Chrysler. Any Chrysler we've owned has been loaded with problems that a car of that age just shouldn't have.

Comparing Hondas from 20+ years ago to today's Hondas are night and day in terms of reliability and quality. OP if you plan to sell it down the line, the resale value on Hondas is far better.

I don't like the look of the Toyota but we are going today to see it and the Highlander. We had a really negative experience at our Toyota dealer when we were looking to buy our Pilot and that colors our view of the brand. But I know they rate well so trying to give them another consideration. My other concerns with moving to a van is no 4 wheel drive. We don't need it on a daily basis but we do go to the mountains 2-3x a year. DH said he is willing to put on chains but I just love the ease of 4/all wheel drive.

Are you leasing or buying? If buying it is worth considering that Chrylser is the only company that you can buy a lifetime warranty for their vehicles. My husband has it on his Ram 1500 and it has been worth its weight in gold. Covers everything but wear items (like brakes). For exmaple, when the radio died they replaced it which would have been expensive as it is a touch screen that runs all the electronics in the car.. Had a Pacifica years ago - loved it and it was super reliable. About to switch from a Volvo to a Durango so I can get the lifetime warranty. Wanted a jeep grand cherokee but wasn't quite big enough for what we need. The Durango hits it all we need (with seating for 7 there is room for 4 people plus 2 dogs and the stuff we take away on weekends as well as been able to tow. So I am happily switching to Chrysler...

They revamped the Town and Country and renamed it Pacifica.

My neighbor has the Pacifica and HATES it. She enveys my Toyota Sienna. I have the LE with extras. Her van has been in the shop a lot and it is only 2 years old.
Now I will say my experience with Hondas has not been positive. My civic was a POS. Family members Hondas were also horrible.
Every Toyota I have ever owned (3) has been wonderful. No problems other than normal stuff.
Eta hers is a town.and country. Sorry lol but she hates it.

Also I laugh out loud every time their commercial comes on. Its not a struggle to vacuum my van with dh's shop vac (who puts the entire thing inside anyways?!) and the seats slide super easy and come out or fold down super easy.
The Sienna also has more space when all rows are up.

to me, all the bells and whistles on a Chrysler will never supersede the reliability, safety, and resale value of a Honda or Toyota. even with all the commercials you see on TV about the Pacifica, i still don't see that many more on the road. somehow i don't think that on-board vacuum and foot-door-opener will seem that great if the car itself doesn't have a good track record for safety and reliability.

Interesting. We will be buying. What ever I get I will be driving for about the next 10yrs. This is not the old Pacifica which I believe was a crossover. They revamped the Town and Country and renamed it Pacifica. we just traded in our 2005 Town and Country in December - it had 220K miles and we really didn't have any issues beyond typical wear and tear with it. When we bought it in April 2005 (as a used vehicle - it had been on the road since May 2004), we planned on driving it for 10 years. So we got that out of it and a bit more besides. We were always very happy with it. disclaimer - we now drive a Cooper Mini and a Ford Flex (which is what we got in lieu of the van) but we're also down to 2 kids at home, one of which will be graduating in 15m and the other one is almost out of a booster seat so we no longer need the minivan

here is a review on the lifetime bumper-to-bumper warranty - it totally makes sense if you are buying and planning on keeping it for 10 years. www.christopherprice.net/chrysler-mopar-lifetime-bumper-to-bumper-warranties-a-hidden-gem-2345.htmlI know they have totally changed the pacifica from back when I had it, but wanted to share how reliable a Chrysler was for me. While that may be true, after 30,000 miles all you have on the Toyota and Honda are power-train warranties - if the electronics break, or the the air-conditioner brakes you have to pay to fix them. After the power-train warranty expires (typically between 50,000 - 60,000 miles) you are responsible for all the repairs. While Toyota and Honda are very reliable, they are not immune from problems. With the lifetime bumper-to-bumper warranty you are fully covered for as long as you own the car. To me that peace of mind is a major reason why I am choosing to buy a Chrysler product.

Absolutely could be the Town and Country which they stopped making. My friend who has a T&C loved hers. She raved about it all the time compared to my Odyssey. I did not know about the lifetime warranty. Thanks for posting that heltr!

DH and i went to a Toyota and Chrysler dealer today. We liked the Toyota sales guy and are considering the Sienna now (not because of him).
The first Chrysler guy was fine. He brought in another guy because he said he was new and didn't know how to use the foot activated side and back door. Unfortunately the second guy didn't know either. He tried to do the hard sale, ugh. DH threw me under the bus and said i was hesitant because it is a Chrysler (true). I said that I have had my Honda for 13 yrs, 179k miles and i wanted something just as long lived. His response was that cars are disposable and they didn't make them to last 10yrs any more! OMG way to sell me on your brand. DH and I were just disgusted. IMO that is just an I-give-up answer. He still likes the Pacifica but now we have the Sienna to look into (it comes in AWD). We are still several months away from buying but we are dowb to three (Odyssey, Pacifica and Sienna) instead of the 10 or so we considered.
Any other experiences or thoughts on those three would be great thanks!

We owned a Chrysler a few years ago. That thing was the biggest piece of crap we have ever owned. Everything was peachy until a bout week after the warranty ran out. It was unbelievable how poorly made it was. I think I would buy a Yugo before I ever looked at another Chrysler product.
