How are you doing in this crazy wet and windy weather?
I'm in Santa Cruz county and it was wild today. Well it still is. It's been raining non-stop since about 9pm last night. The wind just came up and is whipping our trees (oaks) around like crazy. Luckily none of them overhang our house. The cross street (one lane county road) is flooded and so pot-holey it's like an obstacle course.
Luckily my commute is south to the Monterey area. It's usually pretty easy even in bad weather but I'll be driving the truck tomorrow and leaving my little car in the garage.
I hope you all are coming through it all OK.

It hasn't been that bad up here (North/East Bay). Wet last night and all day today, heavy rain at times, but not really what I'd call "stormy." I'm supposed to drive down to San Jose tomorrow for some cropping time with friends at Scrapbook Island, but I think we're going to skip it because who wants to drive in that mess? (well, if you don't have to, anyway) You be careful driving to work tomorrow.

Ah "the Island"...I love that store. Can you just go in anytime or do you have to reserve a space in advance? And thanks Mom , I always drive careful. (My Mom already called me to tell me that!) ETA: It's the other drivers I worry about.

I've been thinking of all the West Coast Peas. I stayed in today and watched the crazy wind and rain. Also listening to the police scanner online and can hear all the reports of downed trees, mudslides and road slides. I am pretty tired of this rain!

I live in the city.. and had hard rain all afternoon.. took the dog out in the pouring rain (rain pants and rain coat). dh said driving from sunnyvale home was wild.. some small wrecks.. some slowing on 280 down to 35 mph due to lack of visibility.. glad he had the new car.
my fav story is the commuters on hiway 17 who found themselves stopped by a new tree across all four lanes.. 20-30 people got out, brought out their chainsaws, cut up the tree, cleared it off the road.. and were good to go in about 90 minutes. then I heard the road was closed again for a new landslide....
I'm glad I am not trying to drive home from tahoe...some areas of northern ca have had almost 100 inches of rain this year.. still not like washington's rainforest.. but wet enough..

We are driving home to So Cal from Tahoe. The mountain this morning was crazy, but at least it was mostly snow and not rain at the higher levels. There was heavy rain in the foothills. We took the 99 and the rain let up at Merced. A few showers after that but not stormy.

I'm way way north and it was SO windy after midnight through about 6am. It woke me up around 4:30am and I thought our tree by the drive way was coming down. Thankfully, just a section of our back fence fell down.
It's supposed to be stormy/possible thunderstorms with winds reaching 60mph through Wednesday.
I am ready for sunshine. Warm sunshine!

That's funny. Well funny the "civilians" cleared the road themselves, not funny about the new landslide.

It hasn't been too bad here. I think the highest winds were had while I was asleep last night because when I woke up my patio plant had fallen off the ledge. Other than that it's just been a steady rain all day but nothing too dramatic.

We've been getting out every day for hikes in this amazing weather - so many waterfalls and slides!

We're in southern Marin county and it's been awful here all day long! There was a mudslide a couple of miles from us but thankfully we have other ways we can get out. Now the wind is really picking up. Stay safe, everyone!

Things cleared up today here in So Cal. I drove across LA along the foothills and through the Hollywood Hills. It was crazy to see all of the hillsides that have eroded everywhere. I was reminded of why we all freak out about the rain. The water that runs off of the mountains, hills and canyons is unpredictable and scary. Stay safe up north, everyone.

We have had numerous trees fall around our town, large trees. We were expecting high winds, 40 - 60 mph, but it looks like they won't be coming tonight. Flooding is still expected. It's kind of a waiting game.

I spoke too soon. It got really wet and windy out there tonight. My doors are rattling from the wind. ugh You all take care out there if you have to drive. Ah "the Island"...I love that store. Can you just go in anytime or do you have to reserve a space in advance? And thanks Mom , I always drive careful. (My Mom already called me to tell me that!) ETA: It's the other drivers I worry about. I think you can just drop in whenever there isn't a class or organized crop going on. They charge you something like $5 or $10 to crop during the day, but you get it back if you spend that much in the store. I always spend well over that amount, which is why I can't remember exactly how much it costs. My friends get together there once a month on Tuesdays, but there is a much larger group who meet every Tuesday, I think. Sometimes they share their treats with us. They used to have Friday or Saturday night crops, probably still do, and we had a few 2peas get-togethers there back in the day. They moved a mile or two down the road maybe a couple of years ago, if you didn't know.

The front page article of our local paper was about the storm and past storms.
It reported that since October 1st we have had 68.21 inches of rain!!!!!
What the heck. I knew that we've had lots, but no idea it's been that much.
It's pouring down rain as I'm typing this. So so over it!

Ooh and I forgot to mention that we get around 70 inches annually here. There is nothing normal about this winter.

A news report interrupted the Bachelor talking about the levee evacuation in San Juan County. Hope everyone is ok there.
