Work work work. This work thing is getting in the way of fun. I was AWOL last night. Want to know why? Because after I finished my daily chore and cobbled together food, I fell asleep on the couch. But tonight I made...wait for it...funeral potatoes with chicken thrown in. Took about three minutes to throw together, and it is out of the oven and cooling off now. I am going to go all healthy and put some frozen peas in the microwave. I know y'all are jealous. You know what I hate? I have missing the dinner thread. I feel like I missed a phone call from a good friend.

My son has just started high school. This semester he is doing Food Tech (what we called Home Economics in my day) and he is LOVING it! So much so that last night he begged me to let him cook dinner tonight. I had to think of something a bit more exciting than pizza pinwheels (which is what he made in food Tech yesterday!) but not too complicated that he couldn't do it himself. I had a whole lot of chicken thigh fillets in the freezer so he is going to make Sticky Chicken. I originally found this recipe on a now-defunct weight loss website. It is really quite simple, you make a sauce out of equal quantities of sweet chilli sauce, soy sauce and crunchy peanut butter, pour it over the chicken and bake in the oven. He made up the sauce this morning before school and put the chicken in with it in the fridge to marinate. We will serve it with rice.

I forgot my lunch today and all the kids come in the clinic during their lunches so I can't leave and get food. The freakin vending machines are turned off till after school is over. Anyways I came home made scrambled eggs with ham peppers and hash browns. Now I'm kind of hungry because I ate too early. My kids will not take home ec at school because the teacher is awful. I can attest to that. She's awful to adults. So no one's begging to cook here.

A role model of persistence and determination, scrapmaven , are you. Thank you for your upbeat, realistic attitude that supports all of us. That is SO true!!! I need some of scrapmaven 's positivity!!! I try---I realllly do---but some days, it is hard! By the way, maven--I'm confused about what you said about a pain pump. Aside from your stomach tube, are you ALSO trying to avoid getting one of those implanted pumps that deliver pain medication? teddyw....are you a school nurse? I'll bet you were starving! I don't understand why the vending machines are turned off ? CarefreeSadie ....Ohhh, I know EXACTLY what you mean! After our families would visit, I'd enjoy the quiet BUT miss them at the same time! I would start cleaning frantically--my sisters do the same---we call it "emotional cleaning!" Gets your mind off missing them, AND I do love to get the house back in order after people leave. anxiousmom ....I feel the same way---even if I'm off the board a few days, I ALWAYS catch up with these dinner threads....such a nice lil' group we have here! Oh, and I hope you've found some shoes that don't "poop" and some pants that don't keep falling down!

The problem is that no one ever accepts your invitation. The pain pump is implanted and I am here to avoid it. I have enough trouble staying coherent w/o narcotics. scrappintoee, you are very supportive to others. I never see you as being negative. You present as hopeful and nurturing.
