I'm really warmed by the support I receive from this thread. I'm sorry that I'm not thanking each person personally. I'm typing on a tablet, not my computer. It means the world to me that I have so many wonderful peas behind me. To that end, here's my soup report. Uh, maybe it was not a good idea. Or, it could be my guilty pleasure. I had one jelly bean tomato(small bite sized tomato). Granted I didn't have The Biiiiiiiig salad( AussieMeg , Iloved that), but I sabotaged myself. So, it's been a dicey morning. Since my cold put things behind both my dh and sister are recommending that I stay longer. I'm going to talk to my doctor today and see if it would win anything. I miss home, but I came down here in order to avoid a lifelong pain pump and to hopefully be able to stop tube feeding eventually. I have to keep working this. Last night youngest dh and his girlfriend made pasta Ameretrice. Dh and other ds said it was good and dh also reported that my kitchen was left intact. Apparently, everyone enjoyed a nice meal together. Awwww..... scrappert , how are you doing? Did you get results? cadoodlebug, are you over moving by now? @pascoepea, I hope you're feeling better today. What's on your menu? Have a happy Tuesday.

It is a miserable day here weather wise - cold and grey and rainy. Dinner tonight is chicken fajitas. Simple and quick to throw together when DH gets home from work.
Visitors arriving tomorrow and I still have things to do. Dining table needs all the junk moved, so that more than 2 people can eat at it. At least one living room chair has knitting supplies on it, and the coffee table is still buried in a pile of magazines.

Good day here - going out to eat lunch so I'll load up there instead of eating dinner. Dh out of town until later. I am going to make some muffin meat loaves, though, to have for tomorrow and Thursday. The meat has been defrosted for days so I need to cook it up. A role model of persistence and determination, scrapmaven , are you. Thank you for your upbeat, realistic attitude that supports all of us. Thanks for the thread.

Listen to your DH and sister. No results yet, the ultrasound tech said they would send them out yesterday. So I am hoping to hear something today from my doctor. Fingers crossed! That's all I have to contribute. LOL We had leftover sloppy Joes from Sunday last night. Don't know what tonight will hold. Perfectly said desertgirl A role model of persistence and determination, scrapmaven , are you. Thank you for your upbeat, realistic attitude that supports all of us.

I'm really sorry the soup didn't work out for you. Even though you miss home, I hope the doctor has some other tricks up his sleeve to try. Don't worry about thanking everyone, silly! Just know that we're all here thinking of you and hoping for a positive outcome. After seeing me cook several things during the day yesterday, and not one of them was being served last night, my family was very confused. Ds looked at me, and in his best impersonation of Don Adams said, "Oh. The ol' bait and switch trick, huh?" Totally made my day! Now to why you opened this thread.....tonight we're having maple glazed ham steaks, rice pilaf with asparagus, roasted sweet potatoes, corn (canned, of course), and the ever-present rolls/bread.

Please let usknow what the doc says? Are they checking for a hernia? Btw- this is absolutely none of my business and you can say so. You have earned some good news and fun. Too much stress lately.

I will definitely let you all know. You are my tribe! As far as I know, they are not checking hernia. All the organs - liver, pancreas, appendix, gallbladder and bile duct. All the pretty organs.

Um. Great question. The steaks that we had to throw out really messed up my dinner plan for the week. I suppose we will have day 2 of the brisket sliders. The brisket was ok. I don't think I would buy it again though. Last night we had mac and cheese with them, tonight I think we will have chips and baked beans.

Umm, front page of our paper - main article was about the upcoming storm. It's reported that since October 1st we have had 68.21 inches of rain!!! What??!! That's crazy. We get around 70 inches annually.
I.AM.OVER.IT!!!
Phew, now on to dinner... We had ground beef soft tacos last night so tonight is sweet and sour chicken, rice and either roasted green beans or broccoli.

Taco Tuesday here, with refried beans and maybe some Mexican rice. We usually get full on tacos and beans so the rice is iffy. Spring is trying real hard to make an appearance in my corner of MD - we have sun and almost balmy temps! Have a great day everyone!

scrapmaven, you should listen to your dh and sister and stay. Praying it helps. Trixie Bender, so they were paying attention yesterday. "bait and switch" ha. I ended up making the prosciutto wrapped chicken with sage polenta for lunch today. I've realized that if I'm going to cook, my dinner needs to be served at lunch, especially when DH is traveling for work. We'll do leftovers or fend for themselves for dinner. DS and I are suppose to watch a movie when he finishes school (he received the GI Joe movies for Valentine's Day) so I will probably just have popcorn while we watch for my dinner.

Well, the guests from out of town left yesterday so today is a recovery day. Last night was a little bitter sweet, it was so quiet in the house after being full of life for a few days. The quiet felt good but also sad. Only one family actually stayed at our house the other two families live local so they sleep at home. Still awfully quiet though.
For our dining pleasure this evening I believe we will have.....a large green salad with mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, and peppers. Served along side of this will be chicken of some sort, probably baked. And of course fruit of some sort....I'm sort of hungry for some sort of grain so either brown rice or quinoa.

I have beef stew going in the Ninja pot. My trip to San Jose for a scrapbooking day got cancelled due to our current crappy weather, so my local friend is coming over here pretty soon to work on our crafts instead. I'm also making banana cake since I have three dying bananas. ETA I also pinned Julie W 's sticky honey chicken recipe. It looks easy and delish, and I think the 7yo will eat it. Thank you!

We had a class to go to mid-morning so that we can continued being Election Commissioners here in Louisiana. Then we made a fast trip to Walmart for 'pill pockets' for The Big Guy (the dog) for his pills that he is taking - Predinisone and an antibiotic. So we had sandwiches for lunch/dinner. Made consisted of a veggie roll-up with fresh tomatoes and cucumber. Fresh is better.

scrapmaven, it's cliche to say "take it one day at a time," but please do just keeep putting one foot in front of the other. You have an entire tribe at your back. Today I took my parents to a huge international market in Atlanta (Dekalb Famers Market, if you are a local). They have food from abound the globe and it's an experience just to look around. I didn't go too international in my shopping, but I did pick up some Greek mysithra cheese, which is a pungent hard cheese that is excellent on spaghetti. (Anybody remember the Old Spaghetti Factory chain? They had mysithra cheese on the menu). So spaghetti it is for us tonight. No bread, so I better get around to making a side salad. Everyone feeling on the mend today?

I have been guilty of complaining about my DD's health the past few days (but perhaps not here?). High fever Friday and Saturday, nosebleeds on Sunday and Monday morning (but yesterday only for an hour). Winter vacation....ski trip.....yada, yada.
(They did go skiing yesterday, despite the nosebleed in the morning).
Today a 9 yo girl was critically injured on the slopes, and had to be airlifted to the hospital. It puts things in perspective......

I took my mom to get her stitches out today from her MOHR surgery on her nose. She had to have a plastic surgeon put a graft over the hole the dermatologist left and the itching has been driving her crazy. The rule of the house is if someone gets stuck, poked or prodded hard, they get treated to a meal out. LOL Mom let me know fast she wanted brunch once the dr was done.
I have a bit of rotisserie chicken left so it's chicken pot pie tonight. Maybe a salad to go with it if I can find a dressing I like. Any suggestions?

We are three days post move and we're still working almost all day at the house. We go over to ds's town house around 6 and have dinner and then watch some TV together and then come home since we still have a bed and read and go to sleep. We know that when we start sleeping at his house will be on a queen bed and we're used to a California king so we're sleeping in our bed as long as we can. DH just made his 6th trip to the dump. The sun was shining an hour ago and now it's raining buckets. Oh, for dinner we're having Costco's crab-stuffed salmon! Yum!

I had the day off yesterday so I made beef stew in the IP for tonight (it's always better the next day). Tonight I made polenta in the IP using this recipe: grits
I don't think I will ever make polenta or grits on the stovetop again. They were so easy in the IP. Delicious!
