Very upsetting. I feel horribly for him.
Alzheimer's runs on my DH's father's side of the family. His grandmother and his father both lost devastating battles. Every time DH is forgetful, and he's always been scatterbrained, I get a little twinge of fear. I can only imagine how he feels.

I do the same with my DH. It's unnerving to think about.

Mom is in a care home and both her parents battled it. A couple of years ago my dad told DH to keep an eye on me. Like it isn't always in the back of our minds.

David Cassidy killed off many of his brain cells with his alcoholism. I understand addiction and dementia but it doesn't keep me from being angry at him for messing up his brain chemically when he said he always knew he was high risk.

I feel bad for him if it's true. I hope he is not using this as an excuse for his drunken performance that was reported on the news recently.

I heard this last night and find it to be so sad. I told my husband that I truly believe that I will end up with this disease. I am just so forgetful these days and my memory just isn't what it used to be and it is VERY frustrating. I wish him and his family the best.

He didn't have a great childhood and the kind of adulation given to celebrities and to him was unreal. And now, at a relatively young age, he has to share this with the world, because we (the public) insists. I read all the online suppositions about him being drunk and it just made me mad. So he has to share something he might not be ready to share. That makes me sad for him.

My grandfather and my father both had Alzheimer's. My father died at 59. He also drank consistently (I don't think I ever saw him drink water. Only ever beer).
I'm 50 and I am starting to downright panic when I can't think of something. I stay away from alcohol. Not sure if it will make a difference or not. I keep telling my husband things to remember for me. I'm sure the thought scares him too. It has always been in the back of my head.
Such a sad and scary disease.

It's very sad. He was my tweenage heartthrob.
There are videos from his last concert on YouTube. I am shocked he is people/family let him perform in the condition he was in. If I were there I would have sworn he was drunk.

In the interview he did, he said he wanted to finally come out and say something because he was forgetting words at his concerts and they were also slurred at times. That's why he canceled his concerts.

That is so sad. I saw him in concert maybe ten years ago. He was wonderful. His voice was great. He was very self-deprecating.

I had my teenage room wall to wall and ceiling with pictures of him. I saw him in concert twice when he wore his white pants suit. My cousin dated him for awhile - she passed away from cancer a few years ago but dating him was a dream come true for her. She had a teeshirt of him that I gave her when she was abut 8 and when she got to interview him for a TV news program she worked for she brought the shirt for him to autograph. I guess he couldn't resist her after that!

If I were there I would have sworn he was drunk. Very sad, but he might have insisted on performing - sometimes those close to folks like that can't always fight back. It reminds me of Glen Campbell and his last few performances. It made you sad to watch.

Not only does dementia run in his family, but so does alcoholism. His father was an alcoholic, who was also diagnosed as bi-polar. Alcoholism is a disease and not something that people willing choose to become. I've personally had a front row seat to seeing the multi-generational devastation of this disease. Very sad. He was my teenage heartthrob... The same for me. My room was covered in posters and the only fan letter I ever wrote was to him. A sad diagnosis no matter the age.

When I was little my sister and I each had a Barbie. I actually had a Skipper doll and my sister had a Barbie. We also had a couple of Johnny West action figures that we used as their boyfriends. My Skipper doll dated the Geronimo doll, but we called him Keith Partridge. My adult self totally gets why we thought he was so cool back then. I've always liked David Cassidy and I'm sorry he's not doing well.

It was the dementia and how he was dealing with it. ***That's the last I heard before I went to work this morning at 6:15 a.m. I don't know if there has been anymore information released.

Please don't judge him based on his behavior these last two years. My father was diagnosed a year ago (at age 60), and it kills me when I think about how outsiders are probably judging him by his actions sometimes.

Aww, that's a real shame. I would be terrified to have a diagnosis like that. I had an aunt who had it, and her son [my cousin] told me things that she did that were just off the wall. Terrible disease.
