I have to make 9 gift bags for people staying in a hotel from out of town. They are visiting for a family function. Any ideas of what to put in the gift bags or how to decorate the bags.
Basics to include would be things like Water bottle Bag of nuts Bag of crackers Chocolate bar from local chocolate place
Any other ideas? Salmon is our local specialty so that would be hard to include.
Tia, Paige.

What about candied salmon?
I'm trying to think of Canadian/Vancouver things.

Can you include small one-portion cans or packets of salmon? Of course it would probably stink up the hotel room once the packages are opened.
If there are kids coming, you could include bottles of lemonade, too. Apples, oranges, bananas. Gift card to a local place to eat. Directions to restaurants, gas stations, places of interest, etc. Travel-sized sunscreen, deoderant, toothpaste, etc. if necessary.

DH is a commander in the military. When we have DVs visit, I include A drink (usually water, but will include a favorite if I know it) Crackers Apples or clementines A treat
I also had a sheet of paper with local restaurants and shopping info. And I'd include a hand written note. It doesn't need to be elaborate, but after a long day of travel I wanted them to have a snack available to them.

A postcard or two showing local sites? The gift bags are a nice idea.

i would welcome a detailed schedule of events including transportaion options and estimated travel times from the hotel. Including sunscreen in the goody bag is a great idea if any of the events are outdoors.
ETA: I don't know how much time you have, but tote bags that say something like "Smith Family Reunion" would make really cute gift bags.

For women, maybe a pamper item of some sort --- like a sheet mask.
Mints.
If there are children, some simple toy like silly putty, a yo-yo, or one of those balsa wood gliders.

Stuff that I always want in a hotel- water, chips, candy, undocumented hand cream (I'm leaving that spell check on purpose - "unscented" is what I typed.) An itinerary of events with addresses and times would be helpful. If there are people they haven't seen in a long time, maybe a sheet listing who will be there?

Maybe some mini toiletries like toothbrush/paste, deodorant. People always forget something when traveling. I love Targets selection of that stuff.

If you have a local place that makes maple syrup I'd add a bottle of that and /or honey (it's just about syrup time here and the same farm also has honey from their bee hives), bottled water, hand cream, chocolates.

Advils and/or Tums. Great parties can usually mean hangovers or upset stomachs.

I always include lip balm whenever I'm putting together a bag of items. Is there a little coffee shop nearby where you could give a small gift certificate that would be enough to cover the cost of a coffee? There must be a Tim Hortons around there somewhere. I live in northern Minnesota and Tim Hortons is just starting to show up here.

Are they from out of the country? You can go to your local Member of Parliament and they will give you 30 or so Canadian Flag pins for free.
