So remember a few years ago, when we all bought those awesome MM paints? for our pages. Great colors. Covered well, etc. I LOVED them. Well, I haven't used them for a few years. I'm going to a sb retreat in a few months so I have been digging out my supplies and going thru them. All my paints that I have used before and opened are all dried up. booo! I love these paints. Has anyone tried to rehydrate their paints before? I am wondering if I just add some warm water? and let sit? or that won't work and they are toast?!

I tried adding water to one that had dried up and had no luck. I ended up throwing out a bunch when I moved my scraproom last year. Maybe you'll have more luck than I had, but no, I could not revive them. Same with the Heidi Swapp paint from around the same time frame.

Are they pretty hard? Toss them! They will never be like before. Plus the water will dilute the color even if you do get it to work. I threw all mine out.

I tossed all of mine years ago, they had all dried up or separated to the point that they were no good anymore. Acrylic paint is cheap, treat yourself to a few new bottles!

Acrylic paint is cheap, treat yourself to a few new bottles! LoL...do you remember what we all paid for those paints because of the adorable little bottles? Making Memories was always aces at gorgeous packaging that convinced me to overpay. It was like $12ish for 6? I could never get the blasted lids off. I think I owned all of them, and about 1/3 have dried out. I'm amazed it isn't more! I was just getting ready to get rid of mine via donate/yardsale/trash.

I think I got mine on sale, but still on sale was more than a bottle of good acrylic on sale back then. I still have a couple of bottles, but most of my opened ones dried out and got tossed.

Oh but the colours they had! I remember the green was awesome and there was a red and a pink I was always painting hearts with. The colours were so pretty!

I still have a set that is mocking me. My hope is that they will somehow magically gel back together. Yeah, time to throw them out. But the colors are so pretty...

I had to have them all too and I bet I didn't actually use most of them. Those were the days!

I'm pretty sure all of those colors and more can be had at Michael's or JoAnn's or Hobby Lobby, etc. I haven't bought any recently but I'm pretty sure they're all under two bucks a bottle. Too bad you're not from here! You must have something similar, no?

I tried to save a few that were still moist and I just had to add a bit of water. They were still clumpy, and I ended up throwing them ALL away. So, so sad. But I have a fine new paint stash now so I no longer miss them. Just the memory of the pretty colors and bottles lined up.

I have thrown away lots of paints over the years that dry up or clump up. Wondering if anyone has thought of trying to reconstituting the MM paints with a little oil? Or acetone (paint thinner or nail polish remover)? If they are not watercolours, adding water wouldn't do much.
If I had some, I might try some of the liquid from the bottom of a Wet Ones container...

Get new paint. Throw them away. I know its sad. But paint is one of those products we can't hoard. Its a must use now product. Take a pick of the colours you used the most and go and try to match them. Where you just covering chipboard with them?

Acrylic paints are plastics. Once they've dried, that's it.

Ok. So I did some googling, and some experimenting and what I did worked!!!
Open up the paints, if you can see a glimmer of shiny, it will work. If they are dried flat, it won't. I put some distilled water in a measuring cup in the microwave til boiling. Then poured a small amt in the bottle. Took a long kabob stick and poked and stirred. let sit. Then go back and pour another small bit of boiling water in, and stir. at this point if it's going to work,it will be easy to stir. Then put the cap on and shake shake. I took out a paint brush and painted some on paper/cardboard and the colors are just as strong and bright as before. So this DOES work!!! I am so happy. Yes, I could have gone to joanns and got more paint, but I LOVE these colors. They just seem so much more...hip? bright? IDK.

You are so right...this is a great reminder to me that I actually need to USE some of the gorgeous acrylic paint that I bought for my gelli plate, because I am not using the gelli plate enough to use it all up. I think it's time to get out the foam stamps and make some pages, or maybe cut out some chipboard and paint some embellishments. Paint is one of those things that I never seem to use before it dries out.

We have Hobbycraft in the UK and Spotlight in NZ/Aus but they're not to the standard of your US stores unfortunately I did buy a big box set of Pebeo Acrylics on Amazon for quite cheap and they're awesome paints if anyone is looking for some good but cheap ones?

Their colors were great. Mine dried up and I tried to revive but they were completely dried up and I tossed them. I also loved the Heidi Swapp ones in the large tubes. I still have them and not sure if they are good. I need to pull them I yet and see if they are still usable or dried out they weren't the last time I pulled them out but it was a while ago.

I just went looking and found SEVEN bottle of this paint in an wire stand I have. Strawberries and Cream still has the silver foil lining but does look a bit dried up. However, Evergreen, Meadow (my favourite!) Manila, Monarch ( great orange), Expresso and Shopping bag are not dried up. They seem a bit thick and gluggy but I am definitely going to try and use them. I wonder if storing them on an angle has made any difference. Surely they must be very old. Now, to decide how to use them?! I confess that I still have a few sets of their foam stamps which I have used with ink a few years ago. Maybe I should try a stencil? I'll update when I get a chance to play with them. Corinne

Funny you mentioned these, I was just thinking about them the other day when I saw someone painted their wood pieces I need to check mine as I have a few little wooden items I want to paint!

I think I still have a few should probably check to see if they are still usable. Those came out years ago, at least 10 years. WTH am I keeping them for lol. If they aren't I'm tossing them not worth my time or effort to fix them. Besides that I don't really use paint anymore and if I did need some Martha Stewart paints at Michaels are available.
Curious as to what people are using the paint for.

awwww mine are all still on my shelf that hangs on the wall.. You know that one shelf, I can't remember who makes it.. but you can put ribbon or washi tape on the bottom where the rod is at... then all my paints are lined up in a pretty row.. some of them are dried but they still look pretty so I haven't tossed them yet.. I even have some of the ones with the original metal lids.. Yeah those puppies will never open again. I should toss, but they are still cute on my shelf!!!
I actually inherited a bunch of paint when I worked at school. Someone stored them and they were never claimed so I got them.. They are Liquitex Acrylic Colors and come in huge tubes (4oz tubes).. I have over 20 of them....So I have enough paint to last a lifetime!!
