I just spent a whole afternoon having huge difficulties doing something I do every week without issues in a quarter of the time - complete my week's PL pages. The left page came together with no problems but oh my, the right hand side almost had me screaming. Why? Rather than use my regular Design A, I used a different design (don't know which one) because I wanted to include a 4 x 6 party invitation.
It left me wondering, am I the only one who uses the same old same old Design A every week? And those of you who switch the format, how on earth do you do it!? I am in awe!

I would love to know this too! I feel like if I try and change it up and haphazardly use different design pages that I get in a flutter and get nothing done but pushing around papers!

While I don't do Project Life on a regular basis I use it in combination with regular layouts to scrap events and trips where I want to include lots of photos. I do switch page protector designs, but I think the difficulty is when you mostly take landscape photos, then you are much more limited in how to fill other pockets.
When I am trying to make things fit in a protector that doesn't have quite the right orientation for my photos there are a few things I might do. One is to take out the problematic piece (in your case, the invitation) and fuse/adhere it in a separate pocket somewhere on the page or include it in its own little page protector. If I really want it in the pocket page I will do my journaling in pockets that don't fit my photos, or use those pockets to hold ephemera (even if it isn't oriented the right way), or just for embellishments (shaker pockets, decoration, titles, etc). The other thing to do is to crop your photos and mat them with paper to fit in pockets that aren't perfect. I have also enlarged photos to get them to spread across two pockets and then cut them so they fit...in this way you can make two portrait 4x6 pockets hold a landscape 6x8. Similarly, I will take one piece of paper the size of all the pockets I want to fill and decorate with a title, die cuts, photos, embellishments, etc. Then I cut it down to fit in the pockets.

I scrap my family Album using PL page protectors. I use Design A and D the most. It might bother some, but the dates aren't always in order, but almost. Like when it's a birthday at the end of the month, I tend to take vertical shots. If I find other photos in that month that are vertical, they go on the other side of the page protector. I can see how this might not work for doing weekly spreads. ETA: The Photosheet program sometimes help when you want to change the orientation of the photo quickly.

I almost always use Design A. I take most of my photos landscape so I don't have to think about it. Sometimes, I'll use Design G as an insert if I have enough portrait photos I want to use. That's rare though. I even have my sister trained to take landscape photos of her kids because I'll scrapbook them in PL too. It takes less thought. I have a ton of the other page designs but it's rare I'll use them.

I stick to Design A. The invite i would punch holes and put in album not in page protector.

When I did regular PL albums I almost always used the same designs because getting photos with the right orientation was the most time consuming part of the process.

I use all different layouts, I think I have 5+ styles that I rotate. I am a 12x12 traditional scrapper but for my DDs album I have so many pictures I started doing 1 PL page for every 12x12 page. I have no problem rotating styles but maybe its because Ive been doing it ever since I started PL? I can see how it would be hard to switch it up after using design A for awhile

I always choose my photos and then make my page protectors work for me. If I only need some 4x4s, then I'll chop the rest of the page protector off, for instance. If I only had an invite to put in that wasn't working, I'd do like the other ladies suggested and put it on its own. I rarely have a week of PL without an insert or six. Another thing I do is go through my page protectors and choose an especially neglected one and challenge myself to use it, then that week when I'm taking photos, I have it in mind to help with my edits for when I print my photos.

For PL I use only Design A. This year, I am using Design A, but I am making all the pockets to be 3x4 (with my fuse tool). I just plan my photos that way. If I have a landscape photo that needs to be added, I would do a smaller insert. For December Daily 2016, I used a 6x8 album and used all different sheet protectors. I loved it. It required a little pre-planning, but I like to plan, so I made it work for me. I have used some pocket pages in my regular 12x12 scrapbooking and that can get a little stressful, but so far it was fun to switch it up once and awhile.

fuse/adhere it in a separate pocket somewhere on the page or include it in its own little page protector. infochick, that would have been way too obvious a thing to do I don't know what was up with me - just couldn't get my head round it somehow!! I'll try to listen to your wise words the next time I have the crazy idea of using a different design page!

I think part of my problem was thinking about the other side at the same time, knowing that just because one page fitted the things I wanted to include meant that the other side would have to conform to a different layout too. Who knew that I could make such a big deal out of something supposedly simple!?

Have I seen it correctly in Kelly Purkey's videos. That she glues/tapes her pocket pages together? For example, she does her 2 page layout (6x12, I think) and glues the left side to the back of the page before. She has not said anything about it; as to why, that I know of, but in watching a few videos, that is what it looks like.
Seems interesting.

While I prefer design A, I dip into my stash of different designs regularly. I'm just rogue like that

This is the reason why I do PL style layouts stuck onto a 12x12 card stock in a regular page protector. I can't cope with figuring out the back.

I stick to design A and only use others as extra inserts in a week. It *probably* wasn't just lucky that the Valentines we made for the kids' school parties were exactly 4x6 and landscape If I have a vertical pic that just has to be included, it will be as a 3x4 in its own pocket or paired with a journal card in a 4x6 pocket. For something like an invitation, it wouldn't bother me to stick it in sideways for the sake of the overall flow and routine.

I like using design A because it makes it easier for me to batch print my photos when I'm behind as I don't have to think about what size each photo should be printed at.

I'm a multiphoto scrapper and I often scrap in a grid fashion. But no special purchases for pocket page protectors, and no worrying about the back. ETA: I did buy a pack of the H style, 6 x 12, for when I have lots of extra photos to scrap. On each side it holds two horiz 4x6s and two vert 3x4s, so not too big and not too small. It came in really handy not long ago when I was scrapping prom photos.

This is exactly the reason why I can't seem to make these pocket pages work! I'm not a project life scrapper but I have tried many times to incorporate a couple of pocket pages into my albums without success! Funny timing of this thread because it's exactly what I'm trying to do right now!! Chances are that by the time the layout is finished it won't be a pocket page!

I don't scrapbook weekly or even monthly layouts, but I do use PL products for most of my scrapbooking. Since I do take both horizontal and vertical photos it makes it easier to mix in different PP.

I use pocket pages for vacation and my kids school albums and I vary the pages protectors plus I throw in 12 x 12 layouts. I used to stress about it but now I take a sheet of 12 x 12 paper and cut it up to the configuration of the pocket page and make my page. So it kinda looks a 12 x 12 pg and then I'll add embellishments on top of the page protector. If I can figure out how to post pics, I'll post some of my pages where I did this. When I decided to let go, I definitely had more fun with pocket pages.

Because I had to have every single letter of her page protectors, now, I use them. I went to her site and copied and pasted pictures of each of the styles of page protector into a word document so I can easily look at each style while I look at my photos and decide which letter fits the best. I will usually just take a quick look at the next week's photos too just to make sure I can make that page protector work there too.
And, hi Deb (Miss Colorado Cropper)!!

I use mostly G because I like that it has horizontal and vertical 4x6 slots but I mix up my styles too. Occasionally I will sketch it out on a scrap piece of paper so I know what size I want to print my photos but I mostly just wing it and then make it work. I just got a wide format printer for my birthday though, so I've just started doing my pages in a digital PL template (using the App and using photoshop), printing, embellishing, and slipping in a regular 12x12. I've got 5 months worth of 2015 pages ready to print. With that I've been using design A. No idea why exactly, that's just what I felt like using.

I use mostly G because I like that it has horizontal and vertical 4x6 slots but I mix up my styles too It was a Design G I used, but I looked more closely and found it was an American Crafts branded page and not BH. I found the pockets slightly oversized which meant for the first time, I had to use washi tape and staple the pockets closed when I was done, to stop the stuff moving about. I don't know if that's a brand quality thing, or if it's as a result of the openings being vertical? Anyway, though I have one or two more of those (must have bought an assortment at some point) I don't think I'm going to use them again in a hurry! So many great ideas here - thank you all for sharing your skills (and my pain <G>)
