What are prices like? I haven't been to one in several years. The last time I went, scrapbooking was huge and there were many manufacturers in Utah. I got amazing deals. Now, I'm going to one in April that is for other crafts too like beading. There are a decent amount of SB companies coming that I do like; Echo Park, My Minds Eye, Graphic 45, SEI, Simple Stories are the ones I can remember.
There's quite a few Echo Park kits I'm liking and have seen on clearance for $7.00 on other sites. Would this be a comparable price at the Expo? Is selection limited? Or is it cheaper? I'm slow at buying, and not super picky so I'm sure I'll find some good bargains, I just wonder how the major manufacturers price things.
It's called Let's Create Expo.

I've been to the latest Scrapbook Expos in Southern California. They always have big tables of Echo Park, and an Authentique booth, that have good prices. Last fall there was also a Photoplay booth. I can't say if it's better than what you've seen, but they're always packed with people. Graphic 45 is stocked by a lot of vendors, but I don't think prices are a bargain on that, although the selections are good. There is also lots of Simple Stories at good prices.
In general, it's a good place to see everything in one place, with good prices on paper.

At the CKC the echo park booth was very discounted. I think collection packs were 4 and the diecut packs and PL Cards were one dollar a pack. They had quantity deals on the collection packs also. I got lots of greats things.

I just attended an expo. Most of the booths seemed to have retail type prices, but there were a couple exceptions. There was a vendor with Exho Park kits and they were $ 7 each, 4 for $20 or buy 20 and $4 each-they had the newest and some very old lines. Obviously if you had a few friends it would be easy to get 20. The problem with the expo is it lacks a lot of vendors that had been there in the past. There's much less (scrapbook) variety than there used to be.

I went to one yesterday. I haven't been to an expo in 11 years, so I wanted to see if there was anything new in the world of scrapbooking. When I went 11 years ago, there was so much new stuff like this funny machine called a Cricut. I saw nothing amazing yesterday. Anyway, in my opinion, prices at most booths were retail. Nothing special. Some had specials where you could get a discount if you bought x of something, but really it still wasn't that great of a deal (in my opinion). What caught my eye was a company that sold products to make shaker cards. It was intriguing, but I passed because I have rarely bought ready-made shaker cards, so why would I drop $50 in supplies to make them?? If I'm so inclined to make a shaker card, I can use and exacto and my Cricut. Queen & Co was the company, if you want to look that up. The only two places I spent money was at Paper Wizard and Echo Park. Paper Wizard had beautiful layered lazer dies at about $8 each (on average). They had a special where you bought 3, got one free. I bought 4. Two Harry Potter and two Disneyland castles because they were really nice. I think his stuff in online at scrapbook.com and Amazon. At Echo Park, their paper packs were 4 for 20, or 10 for $40, making them $4 each. I really only loved 8, and had to find an extra two. The owner of Echo told me the majority of the paper packs were several years old. Doesn't bother me, but may bother some. (It was all new to me.) He admitted many were second run leftovers that they produce for Tuesday Morning. (I wonder how much they are there?) So, was it worth it? Not to me. I don't regret it; it was nice to get out without kids. But it wasn't a deal by any stretch. People often talk about what great deals they get places, but often fail to factor in the cost to even attend. It was about $6 in gas, $5 in tolls, $10 to park, and $10 to enter. So $31 just for the privilege to shop. When I factor all costs, I spent $103 on 10 packs of paper and 4 dies cuts. If you add that $31 to the $43.70 for the Echo packs, that's $74.70, or $7.47 each--exactly what you are finding them for. I saw several of the same packs at Hobby Lobby half off $10, making them $5 each. So if Echo is what you're after, you can get them lots of places cheaper or at the same as the Expo. Hope that helps.

Thank you so much for all your responses. I am paying $12.00 to get in and do not live close to the Expo. I'm not sure if there's a parking fee or not. Honestly, this is more for my sanity than anything. I haven't done something by myself in a long time. I think I will buy 1 specific kit online that isn't super old and take my chances with the rest. One of the papers I received from myboysnme inspired me to get the whole thing. I am very slow to buy products because I constantly overthink if I will use them, if it's versatile enough, if it works with most of my photos, if..... I'm sure most of it will be new to me or I'll recognize it as something I wish I had purchased. I think next year I'll make my way to the American Crafts warehouse store. More gas money, but I'm thinking better deals.

For me, I don't really go to the Expos for the prices. I got to see all of the new products, that my LSS doesn't carry, in person. I don't mind paying full price, because I won't have to pay shipping. I also go to spend time with friends, and the all day crop.

There are very few brick and mortar LSS in my state anymore so Expos are a way for me to see products in person and to have a large selection in one place. It is not really about deals for me, though there are booths that have good prices on certain items.

While there are occasionally bargains at the Scrapbook Expo, I go mainly to find unique things there that I would otherwise probably never see.
For me it is usually worth going, but it really depends on what you are looking for.

I go to Expo to shop and crop. I don't care what the product is I will buy it. Echo Park practically gives away their stuff but they don't come east anymore.

I look at it as a chance to get things I haven't seen locally. Plus sometimes there are older lines that I never noticed before.

I just went to the Pleasanton Expo on the weekend.
Most items and places were retail prices, but there is always a good selection.
Echo Park was there, and had lots of collection packs of paper, with a few chipboard packs and embellishments. The paper packs were $7.00 each, or $4/$20, or 10 for $40. They had a TON of different ones, but nothing that was from their latest releases (at least mid-day on Saturday)
