So the awesome lilacgal and I were talking and we loved the Bash it challenge and wanted to expand on it. Many moons ago I helped run and designed for Counterfeit Kit challenge (awesome still!) so this is a spin off of it. But we wanted more guidelines per say so here we go. We want to challenge you to make a kit from your stash! You can add new things you buy during the months if you like but the majority should be from your CURRENT stash. The goal will be to use as much of it throughout the month as possible. Bonus is as you go along you can add to it as you need to to make it work! Here is what this month's challenge should include:
5-10 pieces of cardstock (color your choice) 10 or more pieces of pattern paper to include the following patterns: 1 stripe 1 small repeating pattern 1 BOLD pattern 1 specialty paper (vellum, foil, glitter etc) 1 Lined/gridded pattern 1 woodgrain pattern 4 of your choice 1 MESSY element (spray ink, gelatos, mixed media element, wet embossing, etc) Something bulky (felt, bows, wood, foam, etc) Handful or more of die cuts/ephemera that match your kit LITTLE letter stickers A stamp set or two 2-3 items of your choice
NOTE: You may substitute ONE required item with ONE of your choosing. Please notate. You may ADD anything else you wish but you must have ALL of these (minus your ONE substitution) to start.
Now gather it up, post a picture or describe it.
Now comes the fun part, we want you to play in at least ONE of the ongoing challenges here with your new kit you just made! Then make and create whatever your heart desires!
For all entries posted by midnight EST March 31 (going into April 1) I will draw a winner for a 5.00 ACOT e gift card. Sound fun!? Let us see your creations!!!!

Love this as well, and creating a kit to use just might get me to finally finish some of these challenges. Thanks

I am glad that you all like the idea. I love making kits so this is one I hope to continue each month! Here is mine. It is bigger than what was required but I really wanted to bash some 6X6 papers. For my additional items I choose flowers and flair since I never use them and really want to. If they are pulled and there they may get used. I call this one "Light and Free" The top pictures are the same papers, just the a/b sides which I am sure I will use both of. For my specialty papers I pulled some old Bella Blvd Invisibles, these will be a challenge as I have never used them so we will see. The bottom left paper doesn't include the white cardstock that will be my base but does include various Bazzill raised swiss dots I just got and my lined paper. In the 6X6 you will find my woodgrain and a ton of others. I have spray inks and nuvo drops for my messy items, 2 stamp sets, my bulky items are wood veneers in arrow, circle and sequin shapes and buttons (another thing I forget to use). There is a brand new pack of die cuts from the Jillibean line but I am sure I will pull from my die cut drawers too as I tend to when am making them. I included several colors of little letters and some stickers I found that matched the main colors of the kit. Now to find pictures and we are good to go! I can't wait to see what you make!

Okay. I have a "kit" put together. Still working on a bunch of masculine pages. My cs colours are red, copper, navy, kraft, and gold. My pp's are mostly Photo Play, from "My Imagination" and "This Guy", but I also have a sheet of HOTP holographic stars, and some very old pieces from my stash, some with no manufacturer's label. Grabbed some sticker sheets from Bella Blvd tiny letter stickers, plus Paper House "One Big Family". And for extras, I have some KC wood gears, some copper ep, half an old Lego sticker sheet, and some Scenic Route arrow diecuts. Do I swear an oath on the Bible that I will use all this and nothing but this on my pages? NO! I like keeping my options open right up to the last second. But I think I can and will find a place for most of this before March is done. The next challenge in my sights is the single page sketch in the Sketch/Scraplift challenge. Maybe if I added some flares and some ledger paper I could also attempt the Stash challenge. Meanwhile... back to Calvinball! Attachments:

What a great idea. I have played along with the counterfeit kit blog when I am able. I like having more structure. I will see what I can throw together.

What a great idea. I have played along with the counterfeit kit blog when I am able. I like having more structure. I will see what I can throw together. More structure is what I like too. I need a recipe so to speak. I pulled my kit earlier and made a video of it. I just got around to photographing it. I was so inspired I went ahead and made my first layout too. Off to blog about it and then come here and post my pictures!

Finally done typing my kit post. Come check it out for lots more details than I posted here. I also included a link to the video. New Kit ChallengeI just love this challenge. I'm terrible at creating my own kit from just a picture. I need a list of things to pull from my stash. I added an additional challenge for myself. I wanted to use a variety of manufacturers and collections. I really wanted to make sure I included some Basic Grey. I have a ton of their paper (I'm addicted; I admit it.) and want to use more of it mixed with other lines. I managed to do that and even used the yellow with blue stars on my first layout. I'll post that tomorrow.

I have just recently tried working from a kit for layouts other than my Dec daily and I put one together that included my bash it items so I'm off to see if I'm missing anything from the list.

Ok, here's mine. I was missing the lined/grid and specialty papers. The cardstock is not pictured but will be all white. I added a background stamp and a roller stamp I don't actually remember buying, and added in two stencils and some texture paste for something messy. There's way more in the embellishments but after using a fairly minimal kit in Jan I wanted to try working with something a bit more full to see how that would fit into my process.

I am loving everyones kits. Here is mine. It is based off of a bunch of Dear Lizzy paper I have and love but is older and I have started to feel a tiny bit less in love with it than before. So I want to use it before my taste changes and I hate it! I wanted more white cardstock for the background but can you believe this is my very last sheet of White 12 X 12. Then I wanted kraft - I am out of craft 12 X 12. lol so I went digging and chose some others. I chose a bunch of stickers and embellishments and alpha to round it out. I plan on adding in things from my Bash-it kit as well. 2peas kit PP 2peas kit cardstock etc 2peas kit Embellishments

WOW, how fun! So sweet you and lilacgal to organize this! I would LOVE to play if I can find time. That is a big if. Trying to plan our little guy's birthday party, renovations on our house and working full-time seems to suck the time away. I really want to try though! Very fun!

DawnMcD gorgeous kit! I know what you mean about using it before your tastes change! I have some of that too. I pulled some yesterday actually to use for a Calvinball layout. Great kit, I love all the bits and pieces you picked, can't wait to see them ON pages! woohooo! nicolep that sounds super stressful, but we hope you find some time to come play. Don't worry I think we will be back next month too!

I love each of your kits! While I didn't follow the kit recipe, you all inspired me to kit up my recent LSS garage sale purchase. I'm pretty sure I love kit making as much as scrapbooking...lol. When I get home today I'm going to try and make a kit following your recipe and lift grammadee's page to try and find my creativity again.

Hey, even ONE of those activities would slow ME right down! Tomorrow we have the plumber coming in, so I need to get some cleaning out under sinks done sometime today, and tomorrow I am outa here! (Not too far, but spending the day shopping and meeting up with friends before I turn into a scrapbook myself.

Here is my first layout with this kit. This came together quite quickly YAY! I used THREE flairs like what? I never use those but now I use THREE at once WOOHOOOO! Big stuff here LOL!

Very pretty, crystalb! Love all your layers. Looks like lots of CB points, too, LOL. I have a really dumb question. What exactly is a "flair"? I see you used larger metal circles like a large brad or an inverted bottle cap. I have also seen cb pieces with or without zigzag edges. Also, someone used a badge (like a county fair first place ribbon). I have elements that sort of fit into any of those categories. Just wondering which are "flairs"..

Post by crystalb on Mar 7, 2017 18:40:33 GMT
grammadee for me "flairs" are the metal circles you see, like backless metal buttons. I flatten mine down some since I don't like tons of dimension on my pages. I think for others "flairs" could be other things like you mentioned but for me this is flair. I hope that helps. This layout actually only garnered me 14 points for calvinball (I havent looked today for new points) but it came together easily so that is good. My goal is a layout a day during calvin ball so I am good on that so far YAY!
