I've been married in a church 3 times. But the first was in the pastors office in a hand me down dress. No guests. The 2nd had a few guests and was at the altar but I knew I was making a mistake. We hadn't known each other near long enough and I knew his rush to get married was so I was stuck with him when his true colors showed. The problem was I was desperate too.and it was cheap because I was the only one working :/ The 3rd one, we both agreed we wanted a church wedding but I wanted the dream wedding I never got complete with the fairy tale dress and a nice reception. And I got exactly what I wanted and it was my dream come true. my now husband just wanted me to be happy and to throw a nice party for our friends and family. Our entire wedding party was our family and it was special.

We married at the chapel on the campus where my husband attended law school. The chapel is beautiful and has a big pipe organ. We had our reception at a nearby country club.

In the living room of a judge in South Lake Tahoe with just two of our friends and a handful of family. Judge was the "boyfriend" of DH's great-aunt. They both were probably 90 years old. Then onto dinner at Harvey's Casino where I promptly fainted while waiting for our table.

I got married at a "castle" outside of San Diego. I put quotes around castle because it wasn't a Cinderella type castle, it was all stone and quite small, it was built in 1921 as a private residence but is now rented out as a wedding venue.

Methodist church I joined and was baptized in when I was eight. A maid of honor and 2 attendants, 3 groomsmen. Maybe 125 guests. I had a second cousin that got married on the same day at the same time just across town, so family on my Dads side had to pick a wedding. No hard feelings - it was just one of those things. Later I was told most came to our wedding.
We will be celebrating 45 years this May.

My home church with reception outdoors in the courtyard.
My sister did the same thing (first time). Second time she got married at a barn.
SIL got married out here at the farm; BIL & his wife had a big Catholic wedding.

At my church, with the ceremony performed by my uncle. We had the reception in the fellowship hall. My sister got married the same way (different church, because my parents had moved by then). My brother got married at the American Rose Center in Shreveport in a very small chapel - also by our uncle.

On the patio of a local state park/resort overlooking the lake. There was probably 100-125 in attendance at the wedding. We had an outdoor reception for closer to 200 people.

I probably can claim the most unusual location. I was married in a cemetery. It's not quite as bad as it sounds though. We were married in my husband's parent's home which was located on the grounds of a city owned cemetery. His father was the cemetery caretaker. We'll be celebrating 49 years in about 6 weeks so the location didn't seem to hurt our marriage at all!

My first marriage was in 1980 in a judge's office and then a month later we went to Las Vegas with our families and got married at the Little Church of the West. David Cassidy married Kay Lenz there. My second marriage was in 1988 in a small Catholic Church that my mother attended. A few years later they built new, larger, more modern church space adjoining. Our reception was in the barn at the Rockford Plantation. Now they allow receptions in the main house but at the time only the barn had been renovated.

We got married in a judge's house. His son was in law school with my dh, they were in their first year. We got married right before spring break - my parents said they would either pay for a big wedding or give us a check, so we had a tiny wedding, took the check, and used part of it to go to New Orleans for honeymoon/spring break! I guess it stuck, that was in 1978!

I'm about to get married in a courtyard of a historic hotel in Savannah, Ga. We have about six people coming to celebrate with us and then we are going to stay a few extra days for a little honeymoon. I cannot wait!

We were married at the Catholic Church I grew up in. Reception for about 125 people was at a beautiful venue near Lake Michigan.

Married in our local Catholic Church by our very favorite priest. The ceremony was lovely, but honestly we only had it there to appease our mothers who are super Catholics. We wanted to get married on the beach, but our church said no. The moms freaked when we brought up JoP or someone else ordained to do ceremonies, so we had it in the church. Next time we're getting married on the beach!
The reception was in a fabulous Italian restaurant. It was actually the place my husband and I went to dinner the night we met, so it had some significant meanin for us. Our reception was an absolute blast. Everyone had fun, and we still get compliments on it to this day (almost 12 years later)! We danced so much and so hard that we literally moved the dance floor over 3 inches. Our DJ was SHOCKED. Hed never seen that happen before.

We got married at a church, which was nice, but looking back not necessary as we aren't religious. I guess at the time, I just thought that was how it was done
That and my grandparents wouldn't have been able to do a mountain wedding.

We got married at the church we met in 6 months earlier. We had the reception in the church fellowship hall. I planned our wedding in 3 weeks.
We are about to celebrate our 29th anniversary in April.

In the rotunda of a beautiful old courthouse downtown, with a marble double staircase that was perfect for pictures. It was gorgeous!

#1: Charles' Restaurant garden, Tucson, Az. Restaurant no longer exists. The garden was beautiful. Our ceremony was outside, had a minister. Reception was inside the restaurant. About 120 guests.
#2: Tucson City Courthouse. Presided over by a judge, had two people who were also getting married stand in as witnesses, I believe. Had a reception about 6 weeks later at his parents' house, with about 40 people.
#3: Our house, Littleton, Colorado. Presided over by a minister but wasn't a religious ceremony. We had been planning on getting married in our back garden but the weather was supposed to be stormy, so we moved it inside. The weather ended up being lovely, so we had our reception both inside the house and outside. It was very small, about 30 guests. And perfect.

Vegas Baby! Both sets of parents and all of our siblings were there. We got married at Little Church of the West, a beautiful little church. Then we all went out and partied. I loved my wedding. Wouldn't change a thing.

First time, the church that my grandparents were long time members of and my parents got married in.
Second time, at a local park on a hilltop that overlooked the entry fountain.

We had a very small, immediate family and close friends only outdoor wedding in my parents backyard. In Texas. In August. It was hot.
I was Catholic but had pretty much left the church by then. DH was raised Methodist but didn't go anymore either. We found a young Methodist minister who agreed to perform the ceremony.
That was over 30 years ago. Still going strong.
