I am not sure if this is the right place to put this or ask the question, but thought you guys might be able to help.
Here is the back story. I have started an art journal, but not what it seems like everyone else is doing. For me, I am doing it to try new things...and to learn to let go a little (I tend to be pretty regimented and I want to loosen up.) Anyway, I am all about trying new things and I found something I wanted to try- art on tea bags. Yeah, seemed a little odd at first, but I love the idea of recycling and working in small spaces so I gave it a try.
So-here is my first attempt. I hand sewed the design. And the question? What do you think would be a good way to adhere something like this to paper? The material is so thin that I would think heavy adhesives would bleed through?

I don't have any suggestions, but I wanted to tell you how cool I think this is!
eta: What about using something that's meant to show, like brads or sewing it to the page?

For something so delicate I would have a trial run with an undecorated piece and try a light coating of a spray adhesive. This is unusual and very pretty.

Very nice! It's a great idea, certainly I would consider that mixed media.
I think the above suggestions are good! I don't have anything useful to add.
Though, your mention of your art journal... That's what they were originally (I'm mean from the dawn of time original) meant for. Most artists have a scratch book or art journal to test ideas, do preliminary sketches or other ideas, so you're not at all wrong on the use. I have an art journal which is a mix of both 'art journal/mixed media' and ideas.

Thank you all for your kind words. I am really having a good time with this ... thing? medium? whatever? I tried the light adhesive spray. It mostly worked. You couldn't really see the adhesive, but it did change the appearance of the paper somewhat-it almost made it kind of plasticy. What I find interesting is that what ever I do, it is clearly seen from both sides of the paper. All the tail of the floss are obvious from both sides. The back side tails are not overt, but they are there. I have to be mindful of that. I am thinking of entering this (and others) in a local art fair at our museum. What do you guys think? (I am really self conscious about this. LOL)

I'd enter it, why not. It's a good way to get ideas and see what else you can add or do with it and get some exposure.

I would google search something archival. I can't think of anything right off the top of my head but I will see what I can find for you. This is such a lovely piece..so delicate. It reminds me of the needlework my grandmother used to so on table runners. I will see what I can find for adhering something this fragile. OK so I found this... adhesives It has multiple adhesives listed and their uses . I saw a couple that might work for this kind of paper.

Just thought of something else to maybe try. How about using the same colour embroidery floss as the paper and doing a French knot in each corner?

I love that!! How beautiful!! I would definitely enter it into the contest. I would probably stitch it to a small pieced of paper and then glue that paper with the tea bag into the journal.
I have a "journal" too. I use it to try new products, techniques, doodles, stamps, inks, sprays, stencils....everything. Mine will never look like others true art journals. I have to get used to that, because I tend to get caught up in trying to do things perfectly. Then I end up not creating anything.
I would love to see more of your work.

This is lovely! You could paint a thin strip of matte gel medium across the top back and lay it on a piece of paper. Gel medium dries clear so it shouldn't show at all. I would test it out on a tea bag you haven't worked on yet. my blog: Artful Scrapbooking

Absolutely adorable, I am curious now what people will suggest to use to as an adhesive.
