I've tried to do both several times (and they didn't work so I deleted my posts). Help and thanks!

In the top right of each post is the quote button. Click that "Quote" icon in the box of the post you want to quote and then click beneath that and type your response.
In order to add a clickable link you can simply copy and paste the link and it will be clickable, but you actually see the whole link. To make a clickable link that you want to give a name to you can't be in the quick reply.
In the top right of the original post or in the top right of the "Quick Reply" box at the bottom you should see "Reply". Click on "Reply" and then click on the little box that has an icon with a globe and a piece of paper. You type the name of the text you want in the "Text" box and then delete what is in the "URL" box and paste your link. Hit "Create Link" and it should be there.
Hope that helps!

Instead of clicking on the Quote tab of the post I wanted to quote from, I opened the Reply box (not Quick Reply) and then clicked on the Quote icon there. That allowed me to use just a sentence from the original, not the entire post. I guess there are multiple ways to do it. Thanks, Miss Ang!

I screwed mine up. I'll keep trying. I'm determined to get good at this.
