Wow! That is a great shot!!!!
Eta: we had a lot of golden eagles and hawks where we used to live in sc, but the only time I ever saw a bald eagle was while moving from WI to IA. It was sitting on a large road sign. I was driving so couldn't get a shot but really wish I could have. They're gorgeous birds.

Nice shot! I love raptors of all kinds.
We were just on vacation down the OR/CA coast to Monterey, then inland to El Dorado Hills, north to Klamath Falls, then home to the Portland area. Anyway... it was so strange that we didn't see a single bald eagle in California. Not one. They are a daily sight around here - and I'm sure even more common in Alaska. Just a random birding observation LOL

Really nice! You should host it over at Imgur though, so we can see the detail!

What a beautiful picture. About 20 years ago I went to Realfoot Lake (where TN, IL, MO, and KY all come together), it is just loaded with eagles in the winter. It was such a cool experience. We got to see them flying and fishing.

Great shot. Thanks for sharing. We have a golden eagle that comes around sometimes. But I can never get a good photo of him (or her).

Beautiful shot. When I lived in Colorado, I saw Golden Eagles quite a bit. There was even a nest 500 feet above us at the top of our property. The ONLY time we saw a Bald Eagle, it was flying VERY high. I DO have a picture but even with all the long lenses, it is just a speck in the picture! BUT, I'm happy to have that proof that we saw one flying over us.

Busypea, thank you for that map. I'm travelling by train from Portland to Seattle in a couple of weeks - I'm going to take my specs in the hope I see one (ideally sitting on a train station roof so I can nip out and take a photo

Beautiful! You're lucky to get to see this!
We've got a pair of baby hawks that have been in our yard often the past two weeks. I love watching them and love that they will let us get close enough to get some good pictures.

Busypea, thank you for that map. I'm travelling by train from Portland to Seattle in a couple of weeks - I'm going to take my specs in the hope I see one (ideally sitting on a train station roof so I can nip out and take a photo They are very common throughout western Oregon & Washington. You'll have a good chance of seeing them. We are in the western suburbs of Portland and have multiple breeding pairs nearby. When we lived on the Oregon coast, there were so many that they were almost a pest sometimes. They are gorgeous to see
