We may have just had one of these posts but I want to brag and my dd is at work and I won't post on facebook until after she does.
She is a senior who has awesome grades, plays competitive hockey as a goalie and works two part time jobs. She just got accepted to all 4 Universities she applied to. She got into University of Toronto - St George for Life Sciences, University of Toronto - Scarborough for Biological Sciences and Neuroscience, Carleton University for Health Sciences and Queens University for Bachelor of Science (Honours). Since about Grade 9 her dream has been to go to Queens and become a doctor. She is so focused and disciplined and such a hard worker. She really is proof that hard work does pay off. I couldn't be more proud.
Share your happy kid stories.

Congratulations to her, and you! That's a great reason to be proud I'm proud of my eldest DD because she's proving to be a great Mum to her 4 month old son especially at the moment as her fiance is away 5 nights out of 7 on business and we all know how long the evenings and nights can seem. And I also proud of my younger DD who is just plugging away at getting where she wants to be in the future, currently working 2 jobs and studying part time.

Well...if you insist... Our DS started out life with developmental delays--PT at at 7 mos, ST after the PT started kicking in...even today can't talk worth a darn, but but but--he's been accepted to the William O. Douglas Honors College at Central Washington University, and has been invited to apply for the 'The Golden Ticket'. What's that you say? Full ride, tuition and room and board for 4 years. We get to go to a banquet with the President of the school and meet faculty etc. Don't really care if he gets it (although it would be nice) but the true glory is in being invited to apply. What kind of impact would that have on a persons life? Who am I kidding? The true glory is having a wonderful caring sensitive young man in my life!
Love hearing all of your stories!! Not enough braggin' in the world, if you ask me!

Congratulations. My ds hasn't heard from every college, yet. However, he got into some good ones, so far. Sadly, he has been rejected at a couple, as well. His first choice hasn't let him know, yet. We're on pins and needles over here. Good on your dd.

My D is not in high school yet. But last year she wanted to apply to a private school. They told us that they pretty much only take students with straight A's or one B. She was pretty much an A student in Soc.St & ELA and a B in Sci and Math. She has worked her but off this year and is getting all A's!! YaY her! And she no longer wants to go to the private HS.. but instead to our local HS> YaY me!

My 4 year old is entertaining himself because my 4 month old is really fussy today and I'm exhausted. It's a little brag I know but I'm proud that he's creative and imaginative and able to occupy himself a bit today. It doesn't happen often!

Yay for all of our great pea kids! I'm up: Dd3 was nominated by her high school for a special scholarship for one of our state colleges. Each highschool in the state was supposed to pick their 2 "best candidates" students based on grades, test scores, community service, activities, and character. There were 10 awards in the state and dd got one-it's full tuition and fees for 4 years. Edited to add brags for my other 2 dds: So proud of dd#1 right now who saved her hard earned money and is off on a 5 month mission trip in New Zealand, china, and Nepal. And dd2- she has many challenges including autism and is really struggling with some sensory issues and other medical things but she has an amazing attitude and the best heart of anyone I know. ❤

So proud of all our pea children!
My DS started 6th form & partway through his first year he realised he'd made the wrong subject choices, took full responsibility (even though there were other factors that should have shared some blame for his troubles) & asked for rather chance to start over. He stuck the year out & then started again with new subjects.
2 years on he got an offer within 24 hours for a place on either the drama or comedy BA at his top choice uni which also happens to be where his girlfriend is. He listened to us counsel him to check out other options too, got 2 other offers but didn't like either course as much. Last weekend he went to Kent for one last interview & came back very starry-eyed: the course, the campus, the everything. Offer came straight in & he chose the best course over the girlfriend; at 19 I think that takes strength & maturity (luckily girlfriend also has these qualities & fully supports him). I'm so proud I could burst right now.

My Mom brag is a little different. My dd was always a tiny little thing. Ate pretty well and was really active in school sports. When she moved away for college, she gained the typical freshman 15 and 5 years later it became about 70 lbs. She is married and lives in another state now. Her dh is deployed to the desert and she decided to gain control of herself while he is gone. It's been 3 months and she just hit her 30 lb mark! She still has 40 she wants to lose, but she's doing awesome! Today she texted me, said she was crying because an older woman came up to her at the gym today and said "I just want you to know that I've had my eye on you since you started coming at the first of the year, I go home and tell my husband how hard you work, and your transformation is amazing!" I don't think she believed me when I told her I thought she was looking great, it took a stranger to notice and say something. Now she's even more motivated to lose the next 40 before her dh comes home in August.

My son 25 is a junior at local university. He has struggled academically all of his life. He is still having trouble but he has a year left after this semester.
He applied at a local school district to be a substitute teacher. He is so well liked as a substitute that today they offered him a long term sub job at the middle school for all the days he doesn't have classes and full time when his semester is finished in early May. He has really shown himself to be very effective in the classroom and they want to keep him on.
He has had so many challenges in college with certain classes but this has given him new confidence and a possible career path.

I'm so proud of my big kids! They were talking about this one guy at school. He wins state competition for preaching every year but Caitlin wishes he wouldn't because his lifestyle doesn't match up - he literally doesn't practice what he preaches.
Jared is very protective of Caitlin, Apparently the guy has a reputation for being very inappropriate. The guy asked Jared if Caitlin was going to prom. Jared says #1 I won't let you anywhere near my sister, #2 she would absolutely tell you no bc you are no good... and proceeds to tell him how he needs to change and that none of the girls have any respect for him bc he is a player and a creep.
Praise God both of them want no part of wrong when they see it. I'm glad Jared has strong convictions about how women are to be treated and is not afraid to call his classmate out on it. Apparently this isn't the first time. this kid and another apparently place bets to see if they can put their arm around her at the lunch table. He keeps telling them to knock it off, there is no way I'm letting you do that. Jared still acts like a little boy in a lot of ways but I told him this is how a real man, a good man, acts.
So they are talking about this at dinner last night. It was dd's birthday and I had posted on fb. One of the responses was from the mom of the creepy kid. "We were talking about your daughter! My kids were saying how beautiful she is." All I could think was, we were talking about your son too and it wasn't good! 🙊

Dd got her license yesterday!
Ds finally applied to college!
Both are going to national competition, ds won first place at states for humorous interpretation and dd won for handbells, choir and two acting pieces, one of which she had the lead role.

It's a real whoa moment. Congratulations to her....

My "brag" is on my granddaughter. She is 23yo and a wonderful, single mom. Has her own house, just bought a new car and was promoted to manager at her job(which she loves). She is so good to me, too!

My brag might sound silly compared to all of these but my DS finally got an antidepressant added to his medicine. He has been on a mood stabilizer for a while now but the depression symptoms were persistent. He has gotten up and gone to school every day for the past three weeks. He has not missed the bus once. It sounds like such a silly thing but it has greatly impacted me who is usually wrestling with him to get out of bed in the morning. And I scraped together every dime I could this weekend so he could attend an anime convention. It sounds ridiculous but just the idea that he was willing to commit to doing something for an entire weekend is a huge step for someone who has spent the better part of the last two years not wanting to do anything.

Congratulations to her!!!
I'll join in!
My oldest is in her third year of a double history major (emphasis on the Classics) at University of Guelph. Her very favourite professor mentioned he was doing a work study program this summer, told her she should apply. Because it is a work study, it has to go through Financial Services, who informed her that due to her living at home, and not getting much OSAP funding, she wasn't eligible to apply. But they gave her a form to fill out to add her travel expenses to the mix, and that put her over the edge! She applied, but was concerned about her lack of Greek. She only has Latin. The Professor told her not to worry, she had the Latin and the experience they were looking for. She found out this week she got the job!! 35 hours a week, $13 an hour - she will be SET for school funding next year!! And how this will look on a resume is fantastic. We are SO proud of her!!

Ds18 finally passed his permit test! He has been dragging his heels about this and applying for college. I gave him an ultimatum with a deadline of April 1. He told me he was ready, this was his fourth try and he did it! He took the initiative to apply for a non-drivers ID he needs for senior class trip while he was at DMV, as well as registering to vote. He also applied to the community college he wants to attend. Here are short video clips of ds and dd competing for their school. Both of them are bound for national competition. In this segment, ds is impersonating a guy going down a hill on the handlebars of a bike with no brakes. vimeo.com/209001219Dd has the lead in this readers theater group. She is in the pinafore. vimeo.com/209001241

I let out a "hell yeah" after reading each one of these. These are all fabulous!
Now for mine: my oldest DS has dreamed of becoming a fire fighter his entire life (he is now 24 yo) He has kept his nose clean knowing he would have to pass a background investigation. We don't have anyone in the family that is in the fire service so he doesn't know anyone to give him a hand up. He got hired!!!! I pinned his probationary badge on his chest two nights ago! He still has 7 weeks of their in house academy and must past one year probation but HE GOT HIRED! This city hired 13 candidates and all of them have a spot in the budget. The Fire Chief told us all that these are the best 13 out of the 596 applications they received.

I am so excited! I can finally share because it is finally official! My DS was accepted at a special high school for the Arts in our state.
It is a 2 year boarding school for his Junior and Senior years. His older sister went to a similar boarding school dedicated to math and science. So much for gender stereotypes, LOL.
He took the ACT in December as a first semester sophomore and scored a 28. Now we are getting letters and email daily from schools trying to recruit him for their STEM programs. My artistic child, however, wants a career in film.
