This is Breaking News in Canada on both CBC & CTV.
Prayers for all involved. This is such a busy part of London. Everything is on lockdown.
Stay safe, London peas.

Not many details right now. Shooter outside Parliament building. Hope every stays safe. A shooter hasn't been confirmed yet. A policeman has been stabbed and gunshots were heard but there hasn't as yet been any official confirmation whether this was the police shooting or someone else. A vehicle has also crashed into the railings on Westminster bridge and some reports say there are others injured but again that isn't official as yet. The house is on lockdown but as a precaution rather than someone being inside parliament.

Doesn't sound at all good I hope that none of the victims are seriously hurt and that it is an isolated incident (from a purely selfish POV I'd like to get home safely, I'm a couple of miles away so no real danger, but it could mess up travel if nothing else).

This was just posted on the BBC'c live reporting link www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-39355505 Daily Mail journalist Quentin Letts whose office overlooks the scene told the BBC of the moment police shot the man.
"This man had something in his hand, it looked like a stick of some sort and he was challenged by a couple of policemen in yellow jackets and one of the yellow-jacketed policemen fell down.
"We could see the man in black moving his arm in a way that suggested he was either stabbing or striking the yellow-jacketed policeman, and one of the policemen then ran to get help, which was very quick to come and as this attacker was running towards the entrance used by MPs to get into the House of Commons.
"As he was running he ran, about I'd say 15 yard perhaps, two plain clothes guys with guns shouted at him what sounded like a warning, he ignored it and they shot two or three times and he fell."

I'm curious if that will be confirmed. I assumed that any injuries on the bridge were due to the car(s) similar to previous incidents where people drove through crowds.

This is horrible. Any word whether the two incidents might be linked?

I assumed that any injuries on the bridge were due to the car(s) similar to previous incidents where people drove through crowds. I am not seeing this in any of the reports on the BBC or the Guardian. They are both saying it was a driving into people incident on the bridge, with shots fired near Westminster. But details are going to be sketchy for a while yet, and I also think there is the possibility that the police will not release all details while the situation is still unfolding.

This is horrible. Any word whether the two incidents might be linked? It seems to be, in as much as far as the timing is concerned at least, but really it's all guessing and supposition at this stage. How those things link together, if they do, is sketchy.

As far as I can make out from various reports is, that the ones on the bridge are victims of the car that sped off at high speed and I'm guessing lost control and crashed into the side of the bridge.

This is horrible. Any word whether the two incidents might be linked? Given the fact that they happened so close together, both geographically and time wise, I think this is likely. The Police are calling it 'a terrorist incident' at this stage, which suggests they think there is a link.

There was an eyewitness saying about a car hitting his group. There were interviewed a few minutes ago on CNN. Two older British ladies. It's the risk of eye witness reporting, it's highly likely they were injured by a car ramming into them, but they saw bodies lying on the ground and thought of a shooting.

Exactly.....eye witness reports are not always accurate it depends on who the witness is

BBC
A planned evacuation of Parliament has been halted after an announcement was made saying there was a suspicious package in a vehicle and the bomb squad had been called.

So the collisions with pedestrians were before he got to Parliament. I couldn't work out the order.

So the collisions with pedestrians were before he got to Parliament. I couldn't work out the order. I am not sure either, or if there were two attackers - one who drove the car into the pedestrians on the bridge, then crashed into the fence at Westminster and another who ran into the garden area with a knife and attacked to Police.

The suggestion from the BBC at least is that it was all the same man, but I imagine it will be a while before that is confirmed one way or another.
