I'm trying to figure out how to upload a pic, still newer here and learning, it's not like the old boards 🙁 Maybe I have to have so many posts before I can add pics?
Anyways...I'm cleaning and found a few favorite idea books I had stashed away. Becky Higgins Creative Sketches, a Scrapbooks Etc 'Page Planner' Issue, and a Simple Scrapbooks 'Scrapbook Play' issue, all with ideas I could still apply to my pages today!!
Do you ladies have any fun old issues or books stashed away? I want to say these are 2003, 2007, and 2008 😊

I think I've gotten rid of scrapbook magazines and books, but I sure did love them way back then! Have fun!

I have the BH sketches magazines and the best of book - a Page Maps book, the two Deluxe Designs colourblocking books, and Pages by Design book and templates and a handful of magazines that I've saved (mostly heritage and cards)
I still love and use them

I think you have to have something like 50 posts before you can add a photo.
Welcome to our group! I got rid of all my magazines a few years ago. I did just come across some large alphas I had forgotten about.

I saved any special Memory Makers book that I had a layout in - in fact I have 2 copies of each, one for each son.
I think I saved a book on vellum but I'm not sure.

I still have Ali Edwards' Designer's Eye book packed away in a cupboard along with a handful of old issues of CK that I always found particularly inspiring. Of course I haven't looked at them in many years so who knows if I'd still be inspired by them.

I still have a couple of Lindsey Ostrom Creative lettering books -- Zig marker lettering with dots to the ends of each letter stroke (Tinkertoy), or little curlicues inside of all the round letters. Those were fun to create back in the day.
It's hard to believe, but most of those Zig markers still work after almost 20 years. I enjoy looking back at those amateur art project pages. Simpler times, that's for sure.

I got rid of most of the magazines - I probably saved the 2nd issue of CK, the first issue of Making Memories, most of the Hall of Fame issues, most "idea" books (like the "Desigining with ... " series). I have also have some Ostrom lettering books, some punch art books. I'm with oaksong -- stunning how those Zig markers are still going! Lindsey Ostrom drew my name on my plastic honeycomb Zig marker storage box --- that was an entire sentence of old craft crap -- that I can see from right here at my desk!

No books, but I did find a 2005 Creating Keepsakes magazine last month while I was cleaning up. I sat down with it for half an hour and then tossed it into the recycle box. It was fun seeing all the old products advertised!
ETA, my ZIG markers are about 15 years old, I think. Still working nicely. I love them!

I still have Zig markers that still work after 15-ish years (unlike the AC markers that I tossed recently only a year-ish after purchase)

Do you ladies have any fun old issues or books stashed away? I have three scrapbooking hardbacks on my shelf. All found at thrift stores in perfect condition. I can't part with them just in case I might need to find inspiration one day and the internet has imploded or something.

I miss those days of getting scrappy magazines in the mail! I have 2 Scrapbooks Etc around here somewhere. I tossed the others a long time ago. The only book I have is Becky Fleck's Page Maps... I haven't looked at it in years. I never had any zig markers, but I have some ink pads that are close to 12 years old and still work well

I think you have to have something like 50 posts before you can add a photo. I think that's only for the For Sale/Trade board.

My zig markers died rather quickly actually! My CTMH ink pads from 15 years ago still work nicely. And my magazines...I had to send them away, they were taking up too much space and I never looked at them. I am sad...I know there was good stuff in there (seriously, other than techniques and new designs, the basics of scrapbooking never changes!)
I especially remember a purple "binder" type book by Becky Higgins that had her sketchy ideas for pages - some sketches, some lettering, some embellishments... I would love to flip through it again.

As to those Zig markers - I'd like to hear from oaksong as well - but I have always been careful to get the lids snapped on tight and the markers have always been stored horizontally in the tote. I think both points have helped make them last. I know that some Zigs that were poked into my "pencil jar" have a tendency to "dry up" on the tip that is "up". For Zigs, I'm thinking that the horizontal storage is critical -- one reservoir of ink to supply both ends.

I cringe when I see craft room tours, and all of their markers are in neat little upright containers. When I accidentally leave a marker upright, I find that the ink pools in one end.

I'm thinking that Copics have a different reservoir system -- Zigs are just fluid as needs to flow between each end. I believe I've read that Copics are some sort of foam -- like a stamp pad that can be re-inked??

I loved my magazines. I read them twice before I would go through each one and add favorite ideas/layouts to my inspiration binder. It has about a dozen sections of ideas. It was my early form of Pinterest. Won't thow that out.

I recently found a copy of "The Art of Creative Lettering" with the bright blue cover, while reorganizing a storage cart. I had attended a class that Becky taught at my LSS and she autographed the book for me - dated Nov. 2000!
I am another who sorely misses the SB mags. Yeah, the internet is great for information and inspiration, but somehow it just doesn't match the anticipation of holding the latest CK or MM in your hands. But I just signed up for a GB subscription, so I am enjoying a bit of that anticipation feeling!
