Watching cookies being made and will be given out to the audience. Then.........you see Rachael wipe her nose with the back of her hand after she just ran that hand through her hair THEN stick that hand into the cookie dough to roll cookies
Ick, sick, yuck or would you eat them?

Are you eating the ones that she is making right there or that were made in the test kitchen? Most likely if those, I wouldn't eat them. BUT if you knew what was happening in the kitchen when you eat out, you wouldn't eat that food either.

I can't stand her, so on the off chance I'd actually be in the audience, I'd likely blurt out a very loud and obnoxious, "Eewwww! I saw that!"

I think that whatever they hand out is probably premade in the test kitchen.

Doesn't she freely admit to not being a baker? Maybe this is why?

You are probably right although I did see some of the cookies go into the already full basket that was passed. This was on TV today. You know some staff member might have seen that cookie dough and eaten some or took it home to bake instead of wasting it.

I agree that it seems pretty gross, but I guess technically speaking, putting them into a 350 degree oven probably helps kill the actual germs.
But really, I would have guessed that when filming a show the TV cooks would work twice as hard to avoid doing things like that.

In my experience from sitting in the studio audience at her show and at similar shows (Martha Stewart mainly), you don't eat those cookies. The cookies given to the audience are not made by Rachael Ray. They are made by her staff and were probably already cooked before the segment was even taped. Even the ones they pull out of the stove are not likely the same ones she was seen cooking. The timing just doesn't work that way. I have watched them remove whatever went into the oven during a break and replace it with something fully cooked for the next segment.

I just bet somebody thought, "yum ! Cookie dough." If they only knew. Lol

I've noticed when I'm watching competitive cooking shows that people are always tucking a stray hair behind their ear. I've often wondered why they aren't made to wear hairnets or hats.

I'm pretty certain this happens in every restaurant that both you and I have ever eaten at. Is it gross? Yeah. But I figure I've eaten things much worse in my life. When we go into a restaurant, I purposefully do not look at the kitchen or look back at the people that are preparing my food. I DON'T WANT TO KNOW!!!

I was sitting at the food court at our mall one day watching a worker fix to-go salads. She did not have on gloves and wiped her nose a lot as she handeled the salad greens. I never ate at that place. ewwwww I 'm sure things like this happen in the kitchen that I don't know about.

No Racheal was not wearing gloves and neither was the guest cook. In the mall example, no she was not wearing gloves either.

Cooking shows in general kind of gross me out. Especially if they are using raw meat. You almost always see the chef touch the raw meat, wipe their hands on a towel and then proceed to touch everything else. No way would I eat what they just cooked!
