So glad to hear so many people giving the WFPB a chance in their life. Thought I'd share a recipe I just made that is now one of my favorites. It's a lentil loaf and it's really good. My DS who is 3 is devouring it and some broccoli as we speak!! I put half with ketchup and half with BBQ sauce to see which is better...honestly either is good! Would be good with some steamed potatoes also,! Lentil LoafI don't like formed meat or meatloaf and I'm not sure I could eat this, but thank you so much for sharing so I can check out the other recipes! Question for you or other vegans who want to weigh in, what do you do for B12 supplements? Do you do DHA supplements? These things were brought up in the book I reviewed and I got answers there but would like to hear from others. I do plan on eating limited animal products again in the future, but if I ever decide I want to do this long term I'm interested in making sure I don't end up deficient in anything. Z*G that's a very good question. If you are a vegan (or WFPB eater) you do need to take a B12 supplement. I would suggest any that Whole Food carries would be a good choice, but as you said they are a bit out of the way for you. Dazeepetals can you suggest one for Z*G? I have a genetic defect called a defective MTHFR gene. Because of this I can't take an over the counter B12 supplement because my body can't absorb the B12 in it. I have to take a specific version that I get from my Integrative Medicine doctor. Since this doctor diagnosed this and treated me with this specific form of B12 my 10 year battle with "treatment resistant depression" ended and I've been feeling 100% better. Turns out the lack of B12 caused it. Anyway, yes you do need to take a B12 supplement. Most people do just fine with an over the counter B12 supplement. I personally don't take a DHA supplement. I see my Integrative Doctor regularly and he does blood tests and keeps a close eye on my overall health. I will ask him about on my next check up. He does know the diet I am following.

Hubby and I are signed up for one of the ones close to us next month. I think I finally have DH on board for this WOE. He watched "What the Health" the other night with me and suddenly all the things I've been saying for years clicked for him. He was just shocked at all the information people aren't told (like fat causes diabetes, not sugar), and cheese addiction. We set a date (tomorrow) that our whole house goes WFPB. He surprised me over the weekend when he ordered a veggie burger and added tofu to his salad that we got at Salata for lunch the other day. If you haven't see the movie yet, I highly suggest it. It's by the same film makers who made "Cowspiracy" and it reminded me of a FOK amped up to the max!! Great movie. You can buy it online for about $10. I'm so happy for you that your DH is getting on board. It's so much easier when the whole family is following the same style of eating and you can cook for the whole family. For myself DH and I started on board together but he's been slipping off here and there. I'd say he's 95% of the time on board so that's a huge improvement! DS (26) lives with us and has adapted (by hunger ) to eating this way when I make dinner for all of us. Most of the meals he likes, some he doesn't and those nights he'll make himself a sandwich. He claims he's a meat eater and will never change, but one of my mottos is "never say never". He's also a huge animal lover, and loves animals more than people, so who knows?

I take a b12 supplement daily I got at Sprouts. I eat wfpb and love it! I feel so much better overall and glad i am not harming animals or the environment.
I just watched Eating You Alive and it's wonderful! Definitely going to watch it again. Also watched What the Health. Also really good .

Candygurl-I should have said a B12 supplement at a reputable health food store should be fine. Not just limit it to Whole Foods. Thanks for reminding me of that. We don't have a Sprouts in my area but I wish we did.
Those films you mentioned sound wonderful. I'm going to watch these soon. Are they both on Netflix?

ACK! I already missed him- I really would have loved this. It is something that has been calling to me- or maybe it's just the voices in my head.

If it's something that's been calling to you maybe now is the time to start? The lecture is a nice followup to the film,"Forks over Knives", but you can do it without the lecture. Have you watched the film yet? It's on Netflix for free or you can check to see if you library has the DVD. Once you watch it and feel you are ready to give it a try look for the book "The Forks over Knives Plan". It's a great step by step book to get you through the first 4 weeks. I also love the "Forks over Knives" cookbook and use it constantly especially at first. The first 30 days are the hardest, because it takes 30 days for your body to adjust and lose those cravings for the food you are addicted to-mostly cheese. But after that-it's smooth sailing because then the cravings are gone for the most part. Your palate really does change, and instead of craving meat you'll find yourself craving the new foods. Wander over to forksoverknives.com and check out the stories of people who have done this for inspiration. It's so much fun to read their stories. Look under "Articles" when you get there and you'll see them. I wish you the best of luck and let us know if you have any questions.

Rip has a show/doc on Netflix right now called "Engine 2 Kitchen Rescue". I just watched it. He cleans out their kitchens, takes them shopping, and cooks. I watched it. There wasn't really any new to me information in it, but the food he made looked great!

I am in some plant based FB groups. I just can't seem to cut the cord. Thanks for the response!! You'll cut the cord when you are ready. I set a date and dove in. I think it's different for each of us as to when we are ready. I myself was sick and tired of being overweight. I was 186 lbs. in a 5 foot 3 inch body. I had clothes in my closet from size 18 to size 6 because I was yo-yoing for the past 20 years and I was sick of it! My cholesterol was 220 although my blood pressure was always good. It was time. After I watched the film "Forks over Knives" it truly felt like the answer fell in my lap-the answer to weight loss that was healthy and cheap to achieve and most importantly to sustain. Very key point here-to sustain. Most diets if they do succeed fail to keep the weight off. Something like 98%. Do you want to keep counting points or weighing food or counting calories the rest of your life? Who does? But this style of eating had a much bigger rate of sustainability and that was key to me. I gave myself 30 days to try it. I told myself go all in for 30 days and no cheating. I knew from past experience (giving up soda, giving up fast food, giving up processed foods) that if I did it for 30 days with no cheating I'd lose the cravings. And it'd worked in the past-the cravings stopped and I no longer wanted the food. It takes that long for your body to adjust and your palate to change. After those first 30 days I felt so amazing I just kept going and here I am 3 years later. Maybe getting the book "The Forks over Knives Plan" and seeing how well it's set out to take you through the first 30 days may be the impetus you need? You don't have to buy it-check your local library and see if they have it. Whatever you decide I wish only the best for you and that goes for all of you Peas. I wish you better health and happiness.
