I know the peas are huge fans of The National Parks! Did you guys know the oldest Park Ranger is Betty Reid Soskin! I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs Soskin in 2013. She even has a blog!

I was a ranger--in Golden Gate National Recreation Area.. just across the bay. she is an amazing person..
like many jobs, often being a ranger sounds better than it often is..I was also a ski instructor and a forest fire fighter.. other jobs that are seen in a romantic light.. though often not really part of the real job.
as a ranger, had rocks thrown at me, was given a kindergarten certificate for good attendance, was not able to wear proper clothes to keep warm.. catcalled.. but then The job was great in many ways...
the pay is better now.. but as a federal employee.. not good. many rangers have to be law enforcement, since there are few opportunities in interpretation. and then there are hiring freezes and pay freezes.. and they add duties and have a lower and lower budget. and I found it frustrating that many rangers did not have the professional training.. (like a college degree in the field).. as it was not required
