My oldest graduates HS in May. Almost three weeks ago, I had his senior pics taken. She asked my permission to do a sneak peek on FB, and I told her sure. She then said she would send me a link to the photos. I get 20-30 edited pictures and all permissions to print them wherever.
She hasn't posted any sneak peeks, and I haven't heard anything back from her. She has cashed my check. I don't want to bother her, because I know editing pics takes time, but when is a reasonable amount of time when I can contact her and ask the status? It will be three weeks on Tuesday.
Thanks!

Turn around time should be stated in your contract.
That's how it's been with every photographer I have ever worked with.

Then I'm not sure what to say. I don't do stuff like that without a contract. It's a red flag to me if the professional doesn't have a standard contract.

I would send her a quick text and ask how much longer does she think it will take because you are so excited to see what she has done.
I don't think that would be rude or pushy.

I think it was at least a month before we got our proofs.

I think it was at least a month before we got our proofs. It's been so long since I hired a professional photographer that I wasn't sure of the timeline. I may send a polite message wondering when I can expect them on Tuesday.

Mine was 1.5-2 weeks and also no contract.
I don't think there's anything wrong with texting/emailing her and asking for an expected date.

I would email her or call her and say, "I'd like to have a date that my pictures will be ready. I'd like to have them no later than ....." If you don't contact her she may just press on with others who are inquiring.
At this point she has not held up her end of what she said she would do so I would start contacting her and getting what I paid for.

The photographer we use for DD's portraits always has the proofs up within a couple days at the latest, and has never taken more than three days to edit (he usually edits about 15 of his favorite photos). I can't imagine waiting 3-4 WEEKS, yikes! I'd go nuts waiting that long!

Tell her you have a cutoff date to submit to the yearbook. Maybe that will light a fire under her ass.

I would definitely call or send her a text. You are having a very small # of prints edited so it shouldn't take long at all. Don't you need to submit a photo for the yearbook, grad program and to make your announcements?

They took cap and gown pics at school for the yearbook, but I do want to have these pics printed for the announcements and grandparents, etc. I emailed her, so hopefully she will respond soon.

When it came to the actual pictures, I did have to ride her a bit to get them in time for Christmas. Similar situation - she does mainly senior photography and has a huge following. She did an amazing job and I have no complaints (also, just a part time gig for her, she also was a nanny, I believe)

It wasn't senior pics, but dd had a photoshoot at the end of December. We were told that we would see the proofs in approximately a month which was accurate. Lucky for us, she used one of the photos as her New Year's Instagram photo so we saw one much sooner. We did need a head shot sooner and contacted them (had made both the photographer and her assistant aware at the shoot). We did get the head shot proofs about a week later, edited photo a day after we chose the proof.
