Do you mean the outside of your ear? I get that if I sleep funny, it's so painful to lift my ear off the pillow and hurts for hours afterwards. I've had that since I was a child, I don't see it as anything to do with aging at all. I have this happen as well. I just need to switch sides, and it usually goes away by morning, or within 30 minutes after I wake up.

Is it the actual outer portion of the year – like the cartilage that hurts? Or is it an inner ear ache? Because for the past few years, I have had a problem with copious amounts of ear wax. When the wax buildup gets bad enough, it plugs in my ears up at night (whichever side I'm lying on) and when I flip over, fixes that year, but plugs the other one. When I stand up during the day, the wax all drains back down and my ears are no longer clogged. About once a year, I get my ears cleaned out at the doctors office – it's like a spa treatment for me! The weirdest things happen when you grow old… Inner ear. That must be what it is, because my ears are constantly plugged up.

This has happened to me -- but only when I used a very firm foam-type pillow. It's like my ear was suctioning to the pillow, getting stuck by suction, whatever. Once I switched from a foam-type pillow, I didn't have the issue anymore.

I have more issues with exterior ear pain. It gets a million times worse when I'm pregnant.. Our bodies are weird!
