I am! DD is a fanatic about Doctor Who but she hates Moffet's writing style so she was boycotting the new season until I told her it was Saturday and then she got interested. Go figure.

I am so excited. I finally got to watch last season and I'm hoping I can keep up with the new season. I'm really going to miss Matt Smith though. He's my favorite Doctor.

I don't think I'm going to watch.
Huge Matt Smith fan, loved David....
I'm just going to be honest - the show doesn't work for me unless I'm attracted to the Doctor.
And that's not happening this season.

I need to figure out how to add my own smilies because the one above isn't quite what I want. But it will do. lol. And, how bad is this.... when my dd first told me that move-in day for college was Saturday I thought "noooooooooo.... if she gets an afternoon move-in time we won't get back home in time for me to watch 'Doctor Who'!!" It's all good though because as a sophomore in a dorm that's mostly freshman (only two floors are upperclassmen) they can move in whenever they want. We suggested getting there early in the morning "so Dad can have time to help you put together the over-the-bed shelf" and "then you'll have the rest of the day to hang and meet your suite-mates." hehehehe And left unsaid... "Mom will get home in time to watch 'Doctor Who'." (it's a 3-hour drive...)

DD and I are "disconnected" this weekend - we'll be at a camp sleeping in cabins and playing at the lake. Our local movie theater is playing it Monday night, so she'll have to wait until then. Poor baby.

Plans are made, Tivo is checked to make sure we are getting ALL the coverage. I was not fond of Matt Smith and have reservations with this new doctor. We will see.

I think Peter Capaldi will be great. I like having a more mature doctor. He was way too young with Matt Smith.

I won't get to see it on Saturday <tiny violin> but am curious how the new Doctor will do. I loved Matt Smith but am keeping an open mind. I think the casting people do an amazing job of picking actors who are pretty different from each other but all have a certain "Doctor-ness" about them.

Entertainment Weekly had an article and it said that Peter Capaldi will be a more intense doctor. The story lines are supposed to be more on the chilling/horror side as the writers that they used are more akin to that genre. Gone are the days of the immature doctor and the love interests. I think Matt Smith was cute as a doctor but I liked David Tennant better.

I am cautiously excited. I fell in love with Tennant because I loved the funny / quirky / campiness of the show. I know this new doctor will be darker, so I'll have to wait and see. I am going into it thinking the show dynamics are going to change, and I'm fine with that.
What I don't like is how much I'm reading what Capaldi and Moffatt are saying about the show. I know they are getting bombarded with questions, but they both seem to be irritated. I've read Capaldi to say there won't be any of the silly love stories with his doctor (paraphrasing), like he's above that ~ I liked the love story with Rose and the flirting with other characters. And Moffatt just seems to answer almost everything like he's annoyed. THAT is what is turning me off, not the fact that the show is going in a different direction, but that they seem so irritated and almost insulted by fan questions.

Oh, I don't like horror!! It's going to be jumpy isn't it? You know, every five minutes something is jumping out at you thereby making you jump. I hate jumpy. I hope they don't ruin the show for me.

The manager told her to take something down to someone's office in the basement of the store. In the dark, creepy, filled-with-manequins basement. Lol. I watched that one from between my fingers until the Doctor showed up.

Another Whovian (sp) here, can`t wait to see how this new Doctor fits in. I think Steven Moffatt writes the best shows, always enjoy his more than other writers. Matt Smith was my all time favourite Dr, and I`m so old I`ve been around for all of them

I don't know. I'm not a fan of Moffatt and I actively disliked Amy and Rory and really did not like Matt Smith's doctor (felt like an overgrown boy). I think I may pass. Don't know yet.

I think every time there is a new Doctor people have reservations, so I'm trying to keep an open mind, since ultimately I will probably like this one, too.

You ladies please post lots and lots on Saturday nights so I have something to do that will hide my eyes during scary moments!Well, at least Rose went down there on instructions from her boss. She was just being a good employee. The ones that get me are when there's a group of people, often young people, and someone has been killed or they've seen something scary. So they hear a noise from the basement, just as the lights go out. Do they all huddle together in one room till it gets light? Do they run away? Do they try to call someone? Of course not. The natural thing to do is for one of them, alone without telling anyone else, to go down into that dark basement. I remember watching the beginning of some move where a woman came home in the middle of the day, brought her groceries into the kitchen, and then heard a noise upstairs. She called 911 and told the police about it. And then... did she rush outside and up the street to safety, to wait for the police? omg. Nope, she grabbed a large knife and WENT UPSTAIRS! Who writes these movies anyway? lololol.
