I got this email and I have been selected to 'participate in the comparative analysis process'... Anyone else done this? It's kinda freaking me out! I believe I am one of six that have been picked to do this next process. I have only at this time submitted my resume.. no interview.. this comparative thing is the next phase. UGGGG.... now I wait until next week... I kinda did a google search on it.. but it only gave me a little blurb about it...
Thanks if anyone has a clear answer!! I really need to do good!! ugggg.

Are you sure this is legitimate? Is this something you applied for or were they soliciting you? I am just not clear about this from your OP.

I googled. This is from a Colorado state system hiring guide: STEP SIX: CONDUCT COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS TO IDENTIFY TOP CANDIDATES Colorado law requires that appointments to positions in the State personnel system be made according to merit and fitness as ascertained by a comparative analysis of candidates based on objective criteria. The Technical Guidance Comparative Analysis published by the DHR, DPA is available. Personnel rules define comparative analysis as a process that utilizes professionally accepted standards comparing specific job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, behaviors and other competencies. Such a process may be numerical or non-numerical.
We do a similar process. Develop questions and model answers, and assign points to the model answers. That is, if all the portions of the model answer are discussed, 10 points; if half, 5 points, etc.

sounds like a personality or skills fit test to compare each candidate to a standard. Depending on the position, it can be pretty typical and help them go through the resumes/applicants and weed out those that are obviously not in tune with their standard. Unfortunately, they don't tell you the standard!

A friend of mine said it was a fancy term for an interview.. (in her opinion..lol) Well whatever.. guess I will figure it out when it happens.. I feel like I should study for a test or something!

Our HR is crazy about asking questions that start "Tell us about a time that you. . . " or "Give us an example of a time when you . . ." Their philosophy is that past behavior is the best predictor for future behavior. Do be sure and give an example if you are asked to do so.
